Drywall is where most contractors cut corners because they figure nobody looks that close. I look that close.
Lee & Sam hung, taped, and finished the drywall for our basement, boxed in the furnace and ductwork with a soffit so the mechanical side doesn’t look like an afterthought, built the half walls along the stairs, and primed everything. After they wrapped up I went through with a flashlight shining across the walls at an angle, which is the only real way to check drywall, and I couldn’t find a seam or a bad corner anywhere. The soffit with the recessed light looks like it was always supposed to be there.
Two other things. They sealed off the stairway before sanding so the dust stayed in the basement instead of ending up in my kitchen per request for extra $$. And the schedule they gave me at the start was the schedule they went over a little but it was my fault for delaying.
