As a disabled resident of Lewisham, I have felt exceedingly welcome and included by the entire leisure centre. I felt these efforts of inclusion in all activities I have participated in and spearheading all this is the warm and compassionate Yannic Clarke. As a leisure centre manager and as a training partner in the gym, Yannic has made me feel welcome, comfortable and productively challenged & motivated in my fitness journey. This leisure centre feels safe from the toxicities surrounding health and fitness industries and its focus on community empowerment is second to none.

Cancellation charges
I initially joined after being advised to use the £10 first-month offer as a way to see if the gym suited me. When I visited, I quickly realised it was much busier than I’m comfortable with and cancelled the membership the same day. There was some confusion around the notice period and charges, which caused concern at first.
Update: The team responded very quickly, handled the situation efficiently, and resolved the issue, which I really appreciate.
I’m now giving this 4/5 stars, with the only reason it’s not a 5 being the busyness of the gym — which was entirely down to my personal preference, not the gym itself.

I registered my 3 years old son for…
I registered my 3 years old son for swimming lesson today and i was quiet worried and anxious as my son is a very active child but Yannic and Cherelle were very reassuring and patient with me, they both took the time to explain everything to me, they even put my son on a waiting list for him to have his lesson at the same time as my daughter (which will be more convenient for me too).
5 stars service, a big thanks to both of them, especially Yannic.

I’d like to leave a review about Yannic…
I’d like to leave a review for Yannic on reception, as he has consistently stood out to me for his professionalism and commitment.
Yannic is always very polite and helpful, and he makes a point of acknowledging us whenever we enter or leave the building. He goes above and beyond his role, including being very attentive to security and who is coming in and out.
On one occasion, there was a bit of tension between visitors, and Yannic handled the situation calmly and confidently, quickly diffusing it in a professional manner. He always looks up from the desk and engages with people, which makes a real difference.
We joined the leisure centre back in June last year, and since then Yannic has consistently impressed me. His dedication, awareness, and customer service truly set him apart.

Downham leisure centre has improved massively. Yannic on reception is fantastic- very professional, friendly and helpful. The centre runs much more smoothly now. Really happy with the service.
