I did not appreciate the half refund policy

1. Worksheets do not coordinate well with the videos.
2. Three fourths of the worksheets are without English translation.
3. The worksheet material seems random and does not consistently reflect the A1 program.
4. The program starts out with advanced words and phrases that require prior knowledge.
5. There is no flashcard option.
6. The podcast section is busy work that takes up a lot of time to complete.
7. The program is not geared towards people with no prior knowledge of foreign languages.
8. The pronunciation feature does not accurately pick up the response.
9. The videos are FANTASTIC, but the online program feels like it has been thrown together. It is mostly "busy work".

I loved the videos on YouTube, Alicia is amazing, so I went to try their website for free, they claimed to have a free trial for a week however it only included one lesson! I then paid for three months and was a bit dissapointed, as you basically see the same videos that you find on YouTube, and then have some exercises next to them. I expected to see much more videos and definitely much more exercise material! I won't renew

I had done a few German online courses and I think this one is the best. I think they offer a lot of material for studying, audios and text. I totally recommend it!

The content is beyond great.
I wish if there were a mobile app where I can download the content and study offline when I'm offline, and I wish I could practice pronunciation more, and would love if the pronunciation practice gave more feedback as to which word was pronounced incorrectly, instead of just saying the whole thing contains a mistake.

I am learning very confortable and easy with lingoni german.

I contacted Lingoni by mail but was ignored.
Otherwise, everything all good.

The milestone test is buggy, none of my answers were submitted and I got a score of 0. I wrote support about the issue and 10 days later there is still no response. The interface for rearranging sentences is clunky; if you misclick you have to completely redo the sentence. A lot of the B1 videos contain English, by B1 explanations should be entirely in German.

I am impressed by the amount of work that has gone into the German course with all the videos and exercises. So far everything is working well with access. I currently have no complaints.

After viewing a few lessons on Youtube, I decided to subscribe to Lingoni. I am a beginner in learning German and Lingoni helps me a lot. The lessons are short and very clear to understand. After each lesson, I take a test to check my knowledge. I hope that one day I will be able to speak German at least half as well as I know English.

Lessons must be followed in the prescribed order. While this might make sense for a complete beginner, it makes no sense for learners with prior experience with the language, who are forced to waste time on topics they already know in order to get to topics they don’t. Many trustpilot reviews echo this concern. It’s about time the company did something about it.

This is an edit is to reply to Lingoni's response to my original review.

Lingoni makes two points in response to my complaint that the lessons must be followed in a prescribed order. Neither of them is a satisfactory solution to the problem. Lingoni says:

1. Lingoni offers a lifetime membership, which provides random-order access to advanced materials.

First of all, lifetime membership allows random-order access only to the exercises and quizzes, not the lessons themselves, which are on video. Although many of the videos are available on YouTube, some 400 are only accessible from the Lingoni "app," so buying a lifetime membership still does not allow access to all the lessons.

Secondly, no non-terminally ill person needs a lifetime to reach the B2 or even the C1 level of German. Personally, I'm solid B1 and I intend to be B2 within 6 months. While it might be cost-effective for a beginner to buy a lifetime membership, it isn't for a serious intermediate to advanced learner.

2. Lingoni replies that you can always go back to material you've already completed and work those lessons in any order.

That is merely a restatement of the problem, namely, that you can't access a lesson until you have completed all the previous ones.

In conclusion, despite the many reviewers on the site, and I'm sure email feedback that their help desk has received, Lingoni continues to force paid subscribers to work through their lessons in a prescribed order. This is completely unacceptable for an intermediate to advanced learner, who should be able to skip topics they already in order to get to topics they don't. I cannot recommend Lingoni until they stop forcing users to work through their lessons in the order they prescribe.

I had previously been enrolled in a German course that emphasized conversation, but did not methodically develop the participants knowledge base. Lingoni's step by step approach to acquiring German knowledge works for me.

I like the videos. Explains in a straightforward, concise and clear manner.

I love the on-air presentations. They make the language come clear to me.

I find the course is very well designed. It encourages me to study every day with enthusiasm.

Tried to sign-up for French but locked into German for a year. No support from the Lingoni team after multiple attempts. Wasted $100.00 with no support or refund. Currently processing a chargeback with the credit card company.

I’ve been using these resources for years before Lingoni even came into being, so I trust and admire the creators. The videos are really great and the worksheets are comprehensive, but I completely agree with previous reviewers who say that the website (it’s not an app, maybe it should be?) needs to be searchable. I have a lifetime membership and I still have to trawl YouTube and then endure adverts to find videos because only worksheets are available on the shared folder. You can redo videos you’ve completed, but if you need to check something specific that you’ve not covered, then there’s no option to do so. There’s also no option to skip videos. At the very least, you should have full access to videos at the lower levels once you’ve passed a milestone test. These are major failings and it’s a real shame. Not everyone out there needs a structured course, we just need additional resources. I’ve already emailed Lingoni directly about this and was basically told ‘that’s how it is, tough’, but it really needs to be looked at. I’d give five stars for the content without thinking about it, but the website is atrocious. I received my membership as a gift, but I regret the money that was spent on it because I can’t use my subscription to it’s full potential and I’m still having to refer to content that’s freely available on YouTube.
