LIoP's intensive PPC curriculum is an excellent deep dive into photography and techniques and some of the more practical business aspects of photography as a career that opened up to me a ton of ideas and imagination about what it means to bring photography into my work, and make it a profession, in practice. I started the PPC in August while rethinking my career and am excited about the possibilities it opens up to pursue a photography practice. The tutors are all excellent, practitioners in their own right who are always happy to share their knowledge and experience, their advice, and Holger, the course director, has built with his team a brilliant space to help students thrive wherever they're at. If you're considering an immersive programme, I would really recommend this one!

I learnt such a lot in 4 days, starting as pretty much a beginner and leaving with lots of knowledge and confidence. A great course with a good mix of technical and composition/creative.

I did the beginners course and the intermediate course. Both are so well structured and organised, that they actually do manage to teach you the essential practices and rules in photography. I was pleasantly surprised how well exercises and experience are mixed up with theory. There was not 1 dull or empty moment. The time was so well utilised. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get into photography or to improve their skills. I certainly plan to go on with their advanced classes as well!

The tutor Holger was professional, dedicated, and articulate in his delivery. The two days were packed with valuable information, combined with practical on-site exercises. The group of learners came from diverse backgrounds and were both friendly and supportive of one another. I enjoyed the class, ready to take on the following-on session soon to keep the momentum going.

I absolutely loved completing the Professional Photography Course.

I can confidently say it exceeded all expectations. The course was well-structured and all the modules were highly informative, and truly inspiring.

Over the 10 week course, I gained and learnt so much. You learn about technical photography skills but also the understanding the broader workings of the photography industry.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in photography. It was an enriching and a rewarding experience

Can't speak highly enough about this course! I finished the beginner course this weekend and had a lovely experience. I came into the course barely knowing how to turn a camera on/off and left the weekend feeling like I can actually take a decent photo! I don't consider myself as someone very creative or "artistic" so I hesitated to book a course for months after buying a camera. Holger was extremely patient and thoughtful in explaining the basic concepts. He provided a lot of great feedback and genuinely was interested in everyone's photo's. I'd highly recommend this class and look forward to more in the future.

I loved this course - so much so that after doing the Beginner course, I immediately signed up for the Intermediate. Holger was incredibly knowledgable, patient, encouraging and passionate about the art of photography. I took this course just for personal interest and am so glad I did - I know I will be thinking more creatively about my photos now, and have much more technical knowledge to draw on.

The Complete Foundation Course has been brilliant and I’m sure will be very useful for my job and I’ve already started experimenting/practising personally.

I think the course was well structured, covering all the basics with plenty of time to get used to the fundamentals of photography. I liked the range of topics covered, and thought it was great that you also touched on post-production on the final day.

The examples and “case studies” of different artists we explored in each presentation really helped with grasping the theoretical concepts. The sessions were clear and delivered well, making it easy to understand for a beginner, and the teacher (Holger) was very encouraging.

Very much enjoyed the photography careers course. It is very informative and well structured. Already my approach to my photography feels more secure as a result of sitting this course. Holger is a really good teacher who clarifies the photography "industry" remarkably well.

I took the Photoshop Course, on a weekend. I thought it was very enjoyable and informative. In particular, I found the practical and structured approach really engaging.

I had a really great time taking the Full-Time Professional Photography Course. I enrolled to develop my own style and to gain confidence in my photography skills. Finding the courage to leave everything behind and commit to the full-time course was scary, but I was determined to pursue photography as a profession.

Each week, as I learned about different aspects of photography, I noticed my confidence growing. This was thanks in large part to the amazing teachers who are truly passionate about teaching and sharing their knowledge—sometimes, it even felt like they were giving away too many helpful tips! The school teaches realistic, practical lessons that really prepare you for stepping into the professional world, including topics you wouldn’t expect to find in a typical photography course.

I’m so grateful to Holger, to the school, and to all the wonderful people I met along the way. This experience has been a crucial turning point in my career, and I’m thankful for the strong support the program provided.

I had the most incredible experience at LIOP while taking the Professional Photography Course. I took the flexible course and completed the 10 modules at my own pace, which gave me the time and mental space to develop my ideas and grow as a photographer.

The quality of teaching is exceptional and especially generous—no hacks or tips are left unshared! I’m beyond grateful to Holger and the entire LIOP team for their support, guidance, and mentorship.

LIOP has given me so much more than just a course; it has been a personal transformation journey. Also, the school has a friendly and inspiring community of fellow photographers that supports you even after you finish the course. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to make a career out of photography.

The LIOP is an amazing course if you want to not just learn how to do photography, but also how to develop your own personal brand and unique style of photography so that you have the foundation, skills and voice you need to develop a distinct portfolio of work and start getting noticed in the professional market.

I did the Flexible Weekend PPC after doing a few of the courses on an ad hoc basis. I would recommend this for it’s flexibility to fit around your working life. It’s busy but is definitely doable if you don’t work weekends.

I’d also recommend doing the complete PPC, even if you have a particular interest in a certain type of photography or if you feel you won’t learn that much on the beginner’s course, for example. I assumed I wouldn’t learn that much on the beginner’s course, but I was completely wrong. Similarly, exploring genres and modules you might not at first have a natural affinity to can throw up some wonderful surprises, as well as tools to carry over into your particular area of interest or genre you want to go into. Each module feeds into each other, with ideas or lighting techniques, for example.

Holger, the course leader, is incredibly helpful and generous with his time, as well as being a great mentor. All the teachers are fantastic, knowledgeable and kind, as well as being practitioners themselves deeply involved in their respective fields. They are brilliant at pointing you in the direction of photographers past and present to inform your own tastes and general understanding.

I was not looking forward to the course ending, but one of the great things about the PPC too is you never really leave the LIOP after you finish the course. Holger leaves the door open for any advice you may need in future, and you’ll be a part of a community of photographers who have done the course for as long as you want to be.

I couldn’t recommend the LIOP more highly and it’s been a really wonderful experience overall.

I just finished the 3-month full-time Professional Photography course at the London Institute of Photography, and it was honestly an amazing experience. The teachers were super talented, patient, and always encouraging. The course itself was really well-structured, covering both the technical and creative sides of photography. If you're looking to level up your skills in a super supportive and inspiring environment, I’d totally recommend it!

Over my career I have attended many training courses, but none have been as memorable or potentially transformative as this last week. The relaxed but supportive atmosphere together with opportunities to appreciate the work of the other students was really great.
More than that the course opened my eyes to the potential for amazing shots in the apparently mundane. I don’t think I would ever have seen the beauty in a peeling wall of paint! It has taught me to look at the world in a different, more creative way.

Amazing experience!

I did the Professional Photography course at LIoP and it’s honestly the best course i’ve ever done (and i’ve done many).
The teachers are all professionals in their field and you can tell that they are really passionate and knowledgeable about what they teach you.
The group sizes are great because you get to know everyone well and it feel like you’ve created a little extra family by the end of the course.
Also very happy with the hours and the location.
Definitely recommend! 11/10!!

I did the full time 10 week Professional Photography Course and would do it again in a heartbeat. I would recommend it to both beginners and those with some experience - there is a lot of information given, beneficial to everyone. Holger is the soul of the school, and adds a caring quality that other schools would be pressed to find.

I did the beginner’s photography course at LIoP and couldn’t be happier with the experience.
The curriculum was super relevant and we had plenty of opportunity to apply and practice what we’d learned using our own cameras as we went along. Our instructor Holger was amazingly knowledgeable and helpful, and made sure there was something to take away for everyone regardless of prior experience and skills.
Admin staff were very accommodating when I needed to rebook my dates due to unforeseen circumstances which I really appreciate.
Altogether I had a lot of fun and learned so much from this course, I will definitely be coming back for the intermediate level. Can’t recommend enough!
