Excellent Peru tour company and 100% exceeds our expectation
We joined Machu Picchu Inc. in mid-May 2025 for a 18-day private Peru trip including 3-night in Amazon. From our first email enquiry in February until we came back from this wonderful holiday, the services from Machu Picchu Inc. was exceptionally good. Isabel (as well as Jorge) answered all our detailed questions promptly before the trip, provided suggestions and tailored an itinerary which was exactly what we after.
When we arrived the first early morning in our hotel room in Lima after the long haul flight, there was a small gift waiting for us from Isabel. It was a very nice touch already.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would have no hesitation to recommend to anyone who consider going to Peru.
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS:
(1) Machu Picchu – Of course this ancient Inca site did not disappoint. We amazed of the Inca’s engineering and technologies. The site was peaceful and sacred, it just blew your mind. It was also good for the government to control the number of tourists each day, limited the time allowed and divided different circuits to keep the flow of the tourist traffic. The mandatory hiring of local guide also gave in-depth knowledge to the tourists rather than just walking around yourselves and taking photographs.
(2) Uros Floating Islands in Lake Titicaca – We visited one of the Islands and were given talks by the “Island President” to understand the lives and traditions of the Islanders. We felt very welcome and had the privilege to be invited into their own home. As city people, we took our hat off for the way they live and respected their heritage.
(3) Ollantaytambo Archaeological Centre in Sacred Valley – Again the Inca’s intelligence and engineering had wowed us.
(4) Amazonica – We had a great time in Amazonica. In one evening, our guide Gustavo took us to walk on the Canopy Walkway over 30 meters above ground to watch sunset and had bird eye view over the Amazon river.
(5) Santa Catalina Convent in Arequipa – It was such a peaceful walled sanctuary. The coloured walls, courtyards and gardens were very beautiful.
(6) Raqchi (on route to Cusco from Puno) – this Inca structure with its carved stone walls and symmetric columns was impressive.
FOOD:
The private trip include most lunches. We particularly enjoyed the farm-to-table lunch at Hacienda Sarapampa in Sacred Valley. The superb food quality and scenic environment made it a very unique experience. It was for sure a hidden gem, well done Machu Picchu Inc. In addition, the lunch at Café Museo Larco in Lima was good too with beautiful setting.
HOTELS:
All the hotels (except one) we stayed were excellent, rooms were beautiful and spacious, the restaurants served good breakfasts and the staff were nice.
GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca was old and tired and looked like you stepped into a 70s or early 80s hotel. It is definitely in need of complete renovation.
TOUR GUIDES AND DRIVERS:
All the tour guides and drivers were friendly, punctual and knowledgeable, in particular:
• Maribel Pajuelo (guide) at Lima from Lima Tours
• Wilmer Valdivia (guide) at Arequipa from Lima Tours
• Percy Trejo (driver) at Arequipa from Jemila Trans Tour
• Henry Jesus Morales (guide) at Puno from Lima Tours
• Yashira Bejar (guide) at Cusco from Machu Picchu Inc.
• Jose (driver) at Cusco
• Gustavo (guide) at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica
Yashira is definitely the star guide of our trip. It appears that she knew everyone and everything including the geography, geology, history, theology, local customs and architecture.
LOGISTICS:
The logistics arranged was 100% spotted on from start to finish (drivers, domestic flights, trains, cars from one city to city). We had three domestic flights in this trip and booked ourselves, the guides not only arranged the check-in in advance for us but also, in one occasion, brought the luggage tags in the Lima hotel before taking us to the airport. It definitely took our worries and burdens away so we could simply enjoy the lovely Peru.
Thank you Machu Picchu Inc. for providing us with such a wonderful experience and lifelong memories.
