A major upgrade project to our Dethleff Motorhome
We planned in 2024 to buy our first motorhome the following year in November 2025, buying a one year old Dethleff motorhome. What followed in this year was a lot of research as we wanted some substantial upgrades to our motorhome so we could do off grid both in the summer in Europe and Winter in the Uk. I watched lots of YouTube channels and read lots of reviews on various companies that could do the wide range of upgrades we wanted. This included a big solar installation and lithium bespoke installation for our Dethleff, not wanting to lose garage or lounge cupboard space. We also wanted a gaslow system installing and knew we would want to increase the weight capacity of our motorhome so we could travel fully loaded with water, fuel and passengers for our off grid trips. After plenty of research and options and discussions with various companies we chose MacsUK. The level of knowledge and expertise from Jonathan made the decision easy. A second important factor was that not many companies had the knowledge or ability to supply and fit all the different requirements we had, like electrical, rear air suspension, Gaslow, starlink mount and setup, Sony rear view camera and all the advice and compliance and paperwork for our motorhome weight upgrade, it really was such a simple journey with constant updates from Jonathan for a major project. I would not hesitate and highly recommend MacsUK, and I know from experience, this was the only company that was able to complete all the different parts of this build in their facilities near Colchester. It’s a 10 out of 10 from us and I am more than happy to discuss our experience and journey with anyone interested MacsUK service.

Off grid upgrades
My Motorhome is predominantly for use off grid and off road so I asked Jonathan to advise on best possible , user friendly power and network build etc for a sole, non- techy user! He was brilliant and has installed additional solar, lithium batteries, inverter, Starlink, rear air suspension etc all managed through single control panel or easy use control from driver seat. Perfect for me on my own for longer periods off grid.

I called Johnathan asking if he could come and look at a Trade sale motorhome with me on a weekend which he unfortunately couldn't do.
He spent considerable time on the phone and via WhatsApp messages helping me identify issues to look out for and what Damp meter to purchase and how to use it etc.
He didn't ask for anything in return, really cool guy.

Our ideas turned into reality
After conversations regarding about lighting upgrades and fridge cooling fans. Jonathan advised on the best options for our requirements.
We returned to MACKSUK for a habitation check, lighting upgrades and fridge cooling fans. When all completed the quality of work is second to none with a precision to detail. All done in the expected time scale. This exceeded our expectations. We would recommend anyone to contact Jonathan and have your ideas turned into reality.

Having said that - the time spent on your van was so satisfying. The new laser light bars front and rear are epic - side marker flashers a safety game changer and the various fans installed to maximise efficiency a really good idea. It’s always a pleasure to see you and Carol and lovely to work with an owner who knows what they want and is prepared to push the boundaries to get the most out of their motorhome. Nice tidy workmanship, completed with care
Jonathan was recommended to me as I had an EU roaming issue with my alarm system in my motorhome. Just under one hour's drive away from me. Was delighted when I arrived to be offered a courtesy car, which meant we could sightsee whilst Jonathan completed the job. Within 2 hours Jonathan contacted me to confirm the job was complete! Nice tidy workmanship and the alarm system is working as expected. Have already discussed further jobs and happy to travel to Jonathan to complete the work.

My first experience with Jonathan was…excellent service
My first experience with Jonathan was in July I was going away in 2 days my fridge stopped working on gas as I live close by he collected my motorhome fixed it got it back next day. I have had sum upgrades to the rear lights high level and side repeaters. I've had diagnostic work done by Steve. My cambelt is now due all ready booked in. There are more upgrades I would like to have after seeing the high standard of work done so far I wouldn't go anywhere else

Genuine Customer Service
I recently called Motorhome and Caravan Services to arrange a mobile habitation check. Unfortunately, they didn’t cover my area, but that didn’t stop Jonathon from spending over 40 minutes on the phone with me! As a first-time buyer, I had loads of questions, and he took the time to give me honest, detailed advice and point me in the right direction. It’s rare to find someone so genuine and helpful these days — I really appreciated his patience and knowledge. Highly recommend this company for their outstanding customer service!

From Carmarthenshire to Essex — and worth every mile!
Back to see Johnathan at MACSUK for the second time, and this time to have a Thetford compressor fridge/freezer fitted, replacing our trusty Dometic 3-way. The old fridge was still working well, but after Johnathan’s power and battery upgrades earlier this year, switching made perfect sense and especially for those warmer trips to southern Europe.
Now back home in Wales, the Thetford has been running flawlessly for a full week, powered entirely by solar and batteries. Overnight, the charge only drops to 97%, then returns to 100% during the day — impressive performance under cloudy Welsh skies!
The solar setup, lithium batteries, and Victron MultiPlus were already a game changer, and the new Thetford 12V compressor fridge/freezer is truly the cherry on top.
Huge thanks to Johnathan for another superb job, and to Andrea for the beautifully neat work on the habitation door blind. Couldn’t be happier!
And as for the review on Bingo… nah, maybe next time!

Alarm upgrade for our Dethleffs
We were recommended to macsuk and following a very helpful and informative telephone consultation with Jonathan our Dethleffs now has an all singing and dancing alarm system, the works have been completed to a very high standard with a brilliant level of attention to detail. Head Unit Upgrade
I had my stereo head unit upgraded. I purchased all the components and the head unit. Jonathan and Steve were excellent. Steve done the fitting. Although it was a more difficult than anticipated, Steve managed to fit the head unit after much head scratching. I would definitely recommend them for any work you may require for your motorhome.

It certainly did pose a few challenges to get the stereo selected into the dashboard but having said that Steve did an amazing job and I know how happy you were with the final product.
