We had a solar PV and battery system installed with Metis through the Oxfordshire County Council scheme, and the whole process was excellent. From the initial consultation to the final installation everything was handled professionally and with clear communication throughout.

The installation team were punctual, polite and efficient, and it was reassuring to have a follow-up check afterwards to confirm all was working as it should. We’re already seeing the benefits in lower bills and feel pleased to be making a positive environmental impact.

Highly recommended for a smooth and well-managed service.

A full solar PV and battery system was installed through the Energy saver App, a collaboration of Metis with Oxfordshire County Council and It was extremely well organised form the initial consultation through to the design and install through solar systems 365. All of the installers from the scaffolders, to the electricians and panel installers were polite, communicated well and professional and despite the teams being very busy doing various installs around the county they were diligent and took their time to get things right.I would highly recommend their service and overall a very good installation which we are now reaping the benefits of.

From start to completion Metis kept us informed throughout. From the scaffolders through to the Electricians all were polite and tidy.

Communication with Metis, whether by email or phone, at all stages of the process was excellent. All questions were answered satisfactorily and documentation provided at the appropriate time.

The installation team was efficient and friendly and the electricians explained the hardware and use of the Metis app. A post instal checkup occurred soon after and everything checked out well.

I came to Metis via the Energy Saver App and Oxfordshire County Council and I am confident that I will benefit from the supplied system both environmentally and financially. Therefore full marks to Metis.

Metis gave us all the information we needed to make an informed decision, no pressure either, through an excellent Oxfordshire County Council scheme. All our questions were answered well and the installation was carried out by very professional and friendly fitters. All in all a great and refreshing experience. Everything works perfectly and now enjoying a much reduced electricity bill! Highly recommended.

Waine, Ash and Alfie (Electricians contracted by Metis for a solar PV install) were fantastic throughout the entire installation. They talked me through the installation process, we agreed on suitable locations for both the inverter+battery system and the solar distribution board as well as the cable routing. Furthermore, they were very knowledgeable on the job requirements, answered all questions I had and the install looks very professional . Left no mess, polite throughout and an excellent handover telling me what is to come next. Would recommend them.

A very well coordinated Metis installation with the surveyors, scaffolders, panel fitters, and electricians working closely together to get the job done quickly and efficiently. It was good at every point of the installation to be able to speak to the appropriate person on the phone if needs be. Communication across the board via email has been excellent. The electricians listened carefully to our preference for the placement of the battery and other control panels and were able to accommodate our wishes where safe and practical to do so. I am very pleased with the service I received from Metis. They designed a solar panel and battery system for my property, and every step of the process were informative and professional. All of the of the associates I communicated with were polite and patient. I was given plenty of time to consider the system and its potential savings on my energy consumption. Being a solely electric household I can see how much I will benefit going forward, thank you.

Like others we got the array and battery through the Energy Saver App and hats off to Metis who with Oxfordshire County council made it so quick and simple, again the subscription model made it really clear on what net savings I would make. The install was so quick, and the team doing the install Wayne, Richie, Gavin and Brandon were very tidy and polite and a credit to Metis. Would I recommend Metis to others, most definitely, thank you!!

I have a solar system provided by Metis in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council. I can't fault the installation, which was carried out by Solar Systems 365, but Metis has been poor at every step. I have never been able to contact them, either by email or by phone, either before or after the installation. There was no communication about when the scaffolding would go up or the system installed, except from those respective installers on the day before it happened. There were long periods without any communication from Metis, nor any sort of timeline provided, and no response to any contact.

SS365 surveyed my property and recommended four panels on either side of my roof; following this, Metis provided a proposal showing eight panels on one side of my roof (which would never have fit). This was remedied only by speaking with SS365 to check that they knew about this change of plan when they contacted me the day before my scaffolding went up. They were then able to contact Metis and a revised proposal was rushed out to me, and scaffolding arranged for both sides of my roof.

The premise is that Metis won't install a system unless they think it can save you £40/month - which is the fee you pay to them, so it should be at least cost-neutral. However, the financial proposal from Metis was based on an electricity tariff that I cannot use (Intelligent Flux) because it requires my battery to be managed by Octopus, whereas the battery must be managed by Metis. This was misleading. Once my export tariff had been set up, I contacted Metis to understand what to do here and which alternative tariff they would advise, but again received no response.

I have been contacted by the county council seeking feedback on a few occasions as it was an early installation, and they have been very responsive. The app developer attended the installation and has likewise been answering queries from me in place of Metis, which he shouldn't have to do.

I continued to give Metis the benefit of the doubt, but the situation has never improved. The scheme itself seemed too good to be true, as I could never have afforded panels any other way, but the fact I am tied into a five-year contract to pay them a monthly fee, without any ability to contact them, is fairly worrying. I have at various points wondered whether it is a scam, but it is backed by the county council and Metis has a reputable parent company (SMS Energy), so it appears that they are legit but useless. There is a substantial financial penalty to exit the agreement, so I have to hope that things improve at some point over the next five years.

Update 28/05/2025: a manager at Metis phoned me today on the basis of this review to reassure me that they are working to improve their customer service situation. They have offered me their direct number in the event that I am unable to reach their customer service team in the future.

Had solar panels & battery system installed by Metis and they were brilliant from start to finish (particular call out to Mariusz & Sahil who’ve been excellent in communication throughout the whole process).

Started with a desktop survey to give an overview of the solution they could offer, followed by a visit to my home where they could do the final checks & I could ask any more detailed questions about the installation.

Had 16 solar panels (spread across two sides of my roof) and inverter and battery installed in my attic.

Installation was great, with nothing needed from me - scaffolding went up a couple of days before the installation and on the day of install two teams (solar panels team and battery/inverter install team) arrived and just got on with it. They were polite, answered any questions I had & very efficient, getting the install complete in just a few hours. They cleaned up after themselves and were very professional throughout.

Solar set up is great, working very well powering my home throughout the day & almost all the night (from the battery unit) meaning the electricity I take from my energy provider has fallen to almost nothing. Even better is that I’m now providing energy back to the grid, and will shortly be getting paid for that (once I’ve switched my tariff over), decreasing my annual energy bill even further.

Strongly recommend you ask Metis for a quote if you’re looking to get a solar system for your home.

I came across Metis as they are working with Oxfordshire County Council on a government trial, to retrofit houses with various systems including solar PV to assess tariff uptake. In my case the scheme covers the provision and installation of the solar panels and battery with a monthly cost to cover maintenance and optimisation of the system.

There's an app that shows potential savings, so I used the quote from Metis to understand the equipment being provided rather than accessing the benefits.

The whole process has been extremely efficiently co-ordinated. I signed the Docusign documents Friday morning, scaffolding was up by the afternoon and the installation started on the Tuesday morning, and the main system including the battery was commissioned by the end of the day.
A small hiccup as additional scaffolding was required for a separate part of the roof, but you look at how companies handle problems to access how professional they are. In this case, the scaffolding was here first thing the following morning and the final panels installed and connected immediately.
All of this handled by themselves, they just informed me of the issue, so it didn't need my involvement in any way.
A totally professional installation, and the scaffolding should be down later this week, all right before Christmas, so I am very happy

I can now look forward to saving money on my electricity bills and taking part in the government trial, and hoping the information they gather can help the adoption of greener energy systems for others too.
