I enjoyed the Java master class and project Orion, something very difficult for me to do normally but this course is a fun and practical. The mental training of this course is also very beneficial and greatly helped me in my school life as well.

Truly a great set of courses, both the masterclass and PO(Project Orion) have strong backbones, especially if you read the documentation to actually understand the API (which is optional) used in PO. Nothing is ever perfect, but Matej has found a damn good way to come close! I urge readers and future programmers to give it an honest go, it definitely helped me, and I believe if you come in with an open mind, it can help any one else as well, even a complete beginner

I feel sad that some people review the program and give a bad rating just because they see there is a library. Which is actually better imo because I always got demotivated trying to learn the basics, but with Project Orion I felt I could get my ideas out there much faster.

I've now made my own library and I would even say that using Foundation has helped me understand Spigot better. And in the new version Matej made it completely optional so you can choose if you want to use it or not.

Before joining MineAcademy I spent almost a year trying to learn plugin dev from youtube, then I took the other course with Udemy but it was very poorly built.

Foundation is an awesome framework imo and kangarko is some of the hardest working devs I know.

If someone has a problem using his library but wants to learn Minecraft plugin from a proven dev, take his course. I have my own API which I could not wrap my head around how to make before I joined Project Orion.

I tried many ways to learn plugin dev and nothing has helped me like Project Orion. My network now hosts well over 2,000 players and is growing. MineAcademy has changed my life.

The Java course is okay, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best. Honestly, you could learn Java for free on YouTube without spending a cent. Now about Project Orion, it's a complete mess. They use their own custom API for everything. At first, it might seem like a good idea for beginners, but it’s not. The problem is that you end up learning how to use their system instead of the basic Paper or Spigot APIs. When you want to create something with more flexibility or advanced options, you’re stuck relying on what their foundation provides. And if it doesn’t have what you need, you have no idea how to implement it yourself because you didn’t learn the basics. For me, it’s a big no.

This is one of the best Java courses I have ever taken. It delves deeply into the details, and the worksheets are extensive and well-documented. Additionally, the one-on-one sessions are truly focused on deepening your understanding and are highly interactive.

There are, however, two areas for improvement. The first is the mix between Foundation and Native in week 1x. Personally, I am a big fan of Foundation, and at times there is an odd switch between the two, which can cause some confusion.

The second point: The cooldown between weeks can be frustrating if you already have some experience and want to dive deeper into specific topics. I do understand that this might be helpful for others, though. Perhaps an option could be added where you can take a small test to bypass the cooldown, or maybe introduce a slider based on your experience level. For example, a pro could have a 1-day cooldown, an intermediate learner 2 days, and a beginner 3 days per week.

Mineacademy is awesome! It's where you can learn Java and make Minecraft plugins. The teacher explains everything really well, and if you ever get stuck, they're super helpful. Seriously, you won't have many problems because they cover everything. By the end of the course, you'll be a pro at making Minecraft plugins and coding in Java!

EDIT: As of late the structure seems to have improved quite bit, with distinguishable sections for vanilla and his plugin named foundation, the only real improvement that could massively improve this course is to record most of the courses and keep it more concise and have the structure slightly more clear, I recall you wanting to have fun names for the module but perhaps in parenthesis ( ), write the actual factual technological stuff that's in there as it is sometimes hard for me to go back to find the video that contains the stuff I'm trying to find info about again.

OLD REVIEW (THIS NOW IS MOSTLY OUTDATED BUT KEPT HERE TO SEE THAT HE HAS INDEED IMPROVED UPON THINGS):
I've been using this course for a while and sadly feel it doesn't meet my expectations, despite its reasonable price point for learning about programming. It's slightly expensive, but this is understandable given the scarcity of resources on Minecraft plugin creation.
However my main problem is the professional feel of the course(Java + Orion), the course structure is somewhat chaotic. The facecams, for instance, often cover important text in the video presentations, and there's noticeable lag in the facecam audio in some videos. While a facecam is appropriate for introductions or discussions, it becomes distracting and unnecessary during coding sessions.
Additionally, Matej appears to be improvising rather than using a prepared script. Matej, if you're reading this, I strongly recommend using a script. Although your English is commendable for a Hungarian speaker, the pronunciation errors and accent can be confusing. A script would help streamline your delivery, avoid unnecessary tangents, and shorten the videos by about 5-10%. If you are using a script to make your videos, then you should really cut down heavily on losing track of it so much, it seems like you’re going off topic very often.
The course itself could be more concise. There's a lot of repetition and some content, like mental health and workflow advice, feels out of place in a Java course. Perhaps these topics could be covered in a separate module.
Another concern is the exclusive use of your own API, Foundation. While it's useful, I prefer to learn programming from the basics, especially since I aim to develop for servers. Although you mention an alternative without Foundation in a few video’s, it's not emphasized and touched on enough, making me unsure if this course suits my needs, as I am afraid it will cause collision in knowledges when I work with servers later on as those are my goals.
I appreciate the effort you've put into this course, Matej. However, enhancing its structure and ensuring the content is straightforward would significantly improve its quality and justify the cost. It's not about being overly serious; it's about clarity and precision in your presentation. I recommend reviewing your videos as if you were a beginner, asking whether they are understandable and well-edited. Your community could also offer valuable feedback in this process. Because having quite a big audio lag in audio with your facecam kind of tells me you didn’t really watch back your video’s really well.

To say the least, its problems know no boundaries. Its structure is all over the place, requiring access to another course for one of the lessons, requiring use of the creator's personal library for half the lessons, and has not exactly been a great experience all around. It is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for the mess that it is, is not family friendly (despite what the creator claims), and the creator has been involved in several incidents in SpigotMC's history, whining when he deserved punishment. While this is not strictly related to the course, it does send out a message about the kind of content you'll be seeing. While this course has been around for a few years, it obviously still needs refining, and even with that I doubt I will ever be able to give it a full 5 stars.

I had taken up this course a few years ago. It's been honestly the best thing that's happened to me. Before that I didn't even know where to get started, but this course shot me forward, maybe it was just for making plugins my server, which although is right now closed was made a lot better with my plugins, but the most important part is that with the experience I gained here I moved onto more things, right now I'm making games and websites! One of them has been dream my whole life and thanks to this I can finally achieve this! Thank you Matej <3

This is the best course you can get it's worth it and the value you get from here is something you will never get from any other course I highly recommend that this course teaches you more than coding and lessons in real life that make your life more good.

Mineacademy has changed my approach to learning. I have been selling minecraft setups for 1 year and I knew, I must know how to create plugins, so I could apply them to my setups. Also I felt that I could expand this knowledge to accomplish a brand new coding job in the future. Still watching the course videos and I am already impressed. There is so much work to do, but the time you will spend on this course, will be the most valuable one that you could have ever spent.

Matej explains everything very clearly and is easy to understand. Would recommend this course and to start out with the Java masterclass.

I believe Project Orion (and the other courses Java Masterclass and NMS Advanced offered by Matej) have been the best technology courses I purchased myself. I wound up receiving more education than I originally bargained for, which has brought real results in the work I've done personally with coding and not only with Minecraft, but with Matej's lessons on being successful in other areas of my life. I learnt a lot from this course regarding Java and minecraft plug-in development. The inner workings of the game are explained very well. Although I'm an experienced programmer, I think this course will be very helpful to novice as well as intermediate level programmers and plug-in developers. The community experience was also great!

Project Orion will be the next step in Minecraft development for me! I can't wait for a future of more learning :)

Project Orion is excellent so far. I've seen reviews which said stuff like "this is a waste of money, "you can learn this for free or much cheaper online", "this has pointless psychology stuff in it". The reviews made me reluctant at first to purchase it but if anything, this course in my opinion is the best out of all the minecraft coding courses after having tried them all. Matej doesn't just tell you what to write down and brush over it, he makes you understand everything. Even though this is a minecraft coding course, I still found the little 1 minute motivational speeches before some videos very helpful to get me focused. Overall, I think if you are serious about starting to code this is a great course to begin with.

Project Orion has helped me improve my Java skills and I get to make plugins for a game that I love. My kids got me into Minecraft and now I can make things just for them. Minecraft turned from a game I played with my kids and wife into a job. I maintained custom plugins for a server for a couple years. One of my kids also wants to learn to code for Minecraft - I want to start him early and probably will use Project Orion to help with that. I was skeptical spending money on a Minecraft coding course but it was well worth what I paid for it! I highly recommend Project Orion to anyone wanting to learn coding for Minecraft, if you know some Java or know nothing about it at all.
