As a business we have ordered from this company for a number of years (3 yearsof mutliple orders per year) spending a considerable amount of money. Placed and order and arranged a delivery based on works needing to be carried out (booked landscaper). The delivery didn't arrive due to illness. This was then rearranged for 3 days later. The delivery didn't arrive. Called the company every day for a delivery time. This couldn't be provided. Delivery evenutally arrived without the crane to leave the delivery in the allocated areas. (this has always been part of our delivery - 3years) Delivery was left with the understanding the crane would come within 2 days to move items to appropriate areas. Two weeks later, daily calls to the company with no call backs received, official complaint raised which has also not been acknowledged. Our landscaper had to be moved due to the failings off this company. Our works were delayed and continue to be delayed due to the availability of our landscaper. We were fortunate that at the weekend we had a number of volunteers to helped us to wheelbarrow 6 bulk bags of sand and bark.

I wonder if the company is under new management ? I would suggest a review of the delivery plans of the company and how they can improve this service going forward. I would also review procedures for following up on complaints

I placed my order on Saturday morning. On your website it says “fast delivery.” For me, fast delivery means 1–2 days, maybe 3 at most. Today is Friday, and my order status is still “Awaiting Shipment.” Seriously?
When I called your office, the lady I spoke to was not helpful at all and simply told me that orders take 5–7 days to process. Well, today that timeframe has basically passed anyway, and the status still says “Awaiting Shipment.”
If I had known it would take this long, I would have gone with my friend to the bay and collected those stones myself much faster.
This was my first and definitely my last order with you. Honestly, I’m not even sure if I still want the stones anymore, because you have completely ruined my plans for my weekend off.
I am very disappointed. I honestly do not understand how you have such good reviews.
I would like a full refund, and you can keep the stones. I’ll go collect them by the sea myself — it will be faster.
Never again.

Ordered turf and stone a month in advance, no delivery on agreed date despite saying twice it would be there !
No apology, no refund a week later and no apology ignorant beyond belief 🤣

Great communication from start.Ordered over the phone and explained the road access restrictions to our house. They delivered where others couldn't or didn't even try. The high-up delivery driver David(Bigal) was great. He carefully placed every bag in the right place and didn't even mind moving one on a better position. Will definitely order everything I need with them from now on.

The service we received was incredible - really helpful and accommodating and we got a massive bulk bag of stones for a brilliant price compared to online. We will definitely be coming back and using Mitchell Turf again. Able to deliver to us for next day as we live locally to the area as well!

Excellent company, we placed our order at 10pm on Sunday night and it was delivered by 10am the following morning. The driver Hugh was amazing and very helpful with where he positioned the ton bags. I would recommend this company.

I place an order for 2 x 600l of building sand & this company delivered sharp sand. The order was over £1000 so I was told I had to wait longer until it was delivered (12 days). I contacted them to advise the wrong sand was delivered: I was asked for photos to prove this, and the company confirmed it was the wrong sand. The company have refused to collect this sand and refused a refund.

AVOID! We ordered a large order of fencing (on 7th of April 2025) as local to Cumbernauld and cheaper than other suppliers. We received email to say the order had been shipped, once delivery arrived the delivery driver was the one to inform us that the full order (which we paid for) had not been ready for delivery and asked us to contact office (as no one has contacted us). Contacted them the next day to be informed will receive a call back- we did not receive a callback and upon starting what we could on the fence with what was delivered the 6ft posts they delivered were not the posts that we ordered and they sent us the smaller (and cheaper) ones than what we paid for. Again contacted Mitchell turf to be told will be contacted about this- AGAIN nothing from them. Due to this we ended up cancelling the order (on 7th of May 2025) for fence slats that had not been delivered and for the posts that were not delivered. We were only offered a refund for the fence slats that had not been delivered but were told that they would not refund us for the 6ft posts (even though we did not receive the posts we ordered and paid for) until they picked up the incorrect posts delivered- AGAIN were told would be contacted to be given more info and again no contact was made until delivery driver showed up randomly to pick up the posts (which were incorrectly delivered)to which he said 'these are the wrong posts' as he had been given the wrong info and was told to pick up the posts we originally ordered which were not delivered! Could not make this up- if local avoid and pay more at different suppliers to save the hassle!!

Avoid- ordered topsoil last week, advertised as screened to 10mm. In my opinion more than 5 times that

Full of large stones and parts of bricks
I have had to rake the lawn to try and remove stones and have ruined my lawnmower also

Website advised me to order too much top soil- was charged and left with an unmovable 800l bag that we where then charged a further £50 to have uplifted !!!!!! Waited weeks for this 'privilege' and grass all around where it had been situated died - AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!

Ive made two Turf orders within the last week. First order delivery stated 1-5 days, it came in under 24 hours. Second order I made over the phone, very friendly lass dealt with me, and arranged my pick up from the Dunbar site within the hour, staff very friendly in Dunbar as well.
Great product and friendly staff, no compaints, will definately use again

Top Soil — ‘our highly rated and nutrient rich top soil’. Untrue, what you’ll get is recycled construction waste.

I wanted quality top soil for my lawn renovation. What I was left with was piles of gravel.

Ordering and delivery went without issue, during which I parted with £94.95 (inc delivery).

Delivery chap was pleasant enough. I inspected the product, which wasn’t what I expected and I was assured it was top soil. Hey what do I know, they’re the turf guys right?

I was time committed due to taking time off and the warm weather, so I cracked on. I eventually got it all down. It was gravelly but didn’t look to bad as the soil was damp.

Next day however, my lawn was horrifically covered in grey gravel. I then proceeded to waste a day raking up piles of gravel in attempt to save my lawn. I barrowed it back into the bulk bag and it’s since filled 1/2 of a bag! Not to mention I’ve done several further clean-ups since.

Called their office 3 times in total and followed-up as requested with photos. Useless and uninterested, not a peep since..

Says it all really. Stay absolutely clear!

Originally concerned regarding the amount of negative reviews, however we received good quality Type1 and builder sand 6 tons in total. Driver went over and above to deliver as close as possible to desired area.
Reson for no 5 star was I never received an notice of delivery, luckily I was in at the time.

Exceptional customer service from Mitchell Turf today!! There had been a mix up with addresses and they pulled out all the stops to get the stones that were ordered to the correct address!! Superb work!!

We had ordered some rustic sleepers from Mitchell Turf. It was a good price and there weren't many other suppliers in our area. We had noted the concerns in previous reviews. We'd asked for the order this week, ideally today. I phoned this morning and was told that the order was on its way. Probably not till this afternoon. Friendly, helpful call. I then got a call in the afternoon advising that the delivery was approximately 30 mins away. Which it was. I noted that deliveries are to the kerb side and we were prepared for that. The driver however offered to assist carrying them to the side of the house. Whole experience was very good and I can only comment on our actual situation.

Avoid by all cost. List of mishaps.

1. Paid £50 delivery fee for them to deliver 20 min away from depot. They kindly agreed to change the delivery date to later but. Never arrived on time. Three false times given and eventually arrived after 5pm and had to get guys paid extra to stay late to lay what was supposed to be fresh turf.
2. Was it fresh you say, Oh boy 45sqm turf and they had no roots.
3. 3 Bulk bags of stones dumped semi diagonally on my drive no idea why. It felt to cause as much disruption as he can by delivery dude who was also rude who ignore my worker talking to him.
4. 3 Bulk bags of stones delivered are not the same ones ordered and I have no way of returning them.

Emailed after sales folks with the above details 10 days ago and no response so thought it would only be fair to leave them this lovely review.

Made a request for turf admittedly small order so they totally ignored my order…looking at other reviews glad they never replied…🌾

Oil damage to our driveway and estate still remains. A man arrived to carry out a survey 5 days ago, said the driveway cobbles needed replaced and never returned. I phoned Mitchell Turf to enquire further, and was told I’d receive a call back. Needless to say I haven’t heard anything. Avoid this company at all costs. Now reported to trading standards.

Company delivered wrong items over 2 weeks ago and damaged my property by spilling engine oil all over the place and driving off without giving me my delivery invoice or telling me they had dropped litres of oil all over my drive. When I called to find out why I was asked to supply photos and the director would get back to me. I asked if they could refund my money and collect the delivery as I was not happy they agreed. When they driver arrived he could not reach 2 bulk bags of the order as his vehicle wasn't able. They have left me since for over 2 weeks blocking access to the side of my property and refusing to refund my money. I have called them on 9 occasions and have not received one call back yet. They are not giving me any collection time or date and are still holding my money at my inconvenience. Not even an apology for spilling oil. Company are a complete disgrace do not use them if you want any customer service or accountability. They have no respect for customers or their property.

Delivery date was meant to be 1-5 working days. It took them 6 days to deliver but i had to phone them after day 3 for an update. I was told they didn't have enough turf so would be out tomorrow - nothing arrived day 4. I phoned day 5 and told it would be tomorrow again but a driver would call me when they are on their way. On day 6 my calls were not answered and is still hadn't received a call. 7pm the turf rolls arrived. As i started to wheelbarrow the turf rolls into my garden, i began to realise the poor quality of the product - big holes, split in the middle, bent edges.
