After my first car being refunded after less than two months of ownership due to £7000 of faults, I was offered a refund or an exchange. After accepting an exchange vehicle, a fault occurred on the dashboard after 23 hours stating an error with my hill assist. After 9 days my new car broke down and had to be recovered by Motorpoint's recovery service. After supplying photographic evidence of the fault as they occurred, They are refusing to refund me although the car has intermittent faults and has broken down. I am disabled and after 4 months of problems, I would not recommend Motorpoint.
The staff have always been helpful but their procedures for returning a car aren't legal as I am entitled to a refund on a faulty car within the first 30 days. They are now trying to get me to collect my faulty car and return their courtesy car.

Was interested in a VW Golf GTI, in fact everything was in place to purchase it pending a test drive and a look over the vehicle. When I first got to the dealership I inspected the car and found there were multiple cleaning issues, hairs in closed compartments, what looked to be spilt dried coffee in the cup holders and what looked to be dried chocolate on one of the back seats, they took it to the valet section to be sorted, their excuse was that the cleaners only get paid £5 a car, I mean there’s no wonder they don’t do a proper job, would you for £5? Anyway, once they’d cleaned it to an acceptable standard I went on the test drive and the car just gave up and it just completely cut out as we got to the lights on Liverpool Road, we got it back started by turning off the ignition and restarting it but we turned straight around and went back to the office. Once back there I pulled the plug on the sale and then a Manager got involved because they clearly didn’t want to lose the sale, the Manager stated they’d send it off to VW as it was still within warranty and get it fixed, they would provide a full tank of fuel and also knock £2000 of the value of the car, he then let the Sales Advisor take back over and the offer from the Manager of knocking £2000 off changed to offering me an extra £149 towards my part exchange, I informed the Sales Advisor of what the Manager offered and he went to speak to him and came back stating there'd been a communication issue and put it down to the Manager being Lithuanian, I decided not to commit to anything and said I would wait for the report from VW, they told me they wouldn't touch the car because it would void the warranty, Motorpoint then spent a couple of days trying to replicate the issue and apparently weren't able to, I mean there was a member of staff on the test drive with me who witnessed the issue but anyway. A couple of days later I called and pulled out of the purchase. They've since text me six times about the car being reduced and as I type this they've knocked £800 off it, the vehicle was a white VW Golf GTI, registration YH24XWJ. There's a reason they're now knocking money off because they want shut of a car that clearly has something wrong with it. If you're planning on purchasing this vehicle I'd suggest not to.

I recently bought a 2021 BMW X1 from Motorpoint Burnley (08/06/2024), part-exchanging my 2018 Kia Sportage. We agreed on a price, completed the deal, transferred tax and insurance, and I was handed the keys—everything seemed done.
At the last moment, the manager told me I couldn’t take the car unless I paid an extra £300 due to a small scratch under the door handle. This was never mentioned earlier in the process. Being an hour from home, I felt I had no real choice but to pay rather than face the hassle and cost of cancelling everything.
This is now my fourth purchase from Motorpoint, and unfortunately there has been an issue near completion every single time. This experience has put me off returning again.
Very disappointing way to treat a repeat customer.
