The phone i was unlocking is a iPhone 4S which was locked to the VodaFone network. As it was a phone given to me by someone then it would have been a tricky 1 month process with Vodafone to use their unlock service.

Decided to give MyIMEIUnlock.com a try after looking at their reviews. I have used other unlocks in the far past but they no longer exist. The ordering process was easy, the unlock from AT&T took 24 hours from order, and the iTunes process was simple. My iPhone 6s plus is running its new sim without issue. My comparable lock done directly with the carrier was much more painful. The AT&T unlock site is a pain, the email back and forth codes take a bunch of time, and the elapsed time from starting the process to the unlock is most easily measured in days, often including a failure of some sort.
