Horrible experience that came at a costly price

Global traveller with decades of touring experience thus far the complaint is based on having taken thousands of day tours but none could compare to the terrible excuse to a day tour. Please read and contact me if you need further information.

Having recently returned from a tour of Horseshoe Canyon and Upper Antelope Canyon while using National Park Express, Las Vegas. I cannot even begin to find appropriate words to explain why this company is allowed to operate in such a despicable manner. The tour guide "Olivia" an uneducated despicable individual, who had nothing positive to say about herself or the National Park Express. Furthermore, during the journey back to Las Vegas, some 4 hours, Olivia, spent the best part of an hour lecturing the passengers on how, the Casino's were there for one thing, and one thing only, and that is to steal your money. Her conversations bordered on slanderous. Olivia, went on to explain that she had once been a floor server in the Casino's and knew exactly how the Casino's cheated customers out of their money. Prior to this lecture, she Olivia, asked the passengers who among us had, played/Gambled in the Casino's. Several individuals held up their hand, myself included. At that, we were subsequently shamed publicly for being foolish enough to have used the Casino. Also, during a second lecture, she decided to laugh at the fact that only idiots would come to Las Vegas to play in Casinos. She Olivia, subsequently thanked us for boosting the economy through our stupidity. After several hours of this rhetoric, she decided to turn her attention to how cheap National Park Express was as a company Explaining how they, (NPE) paid her very little so, Please be very generous with your gratuities. Thus going on for another hour, on how hard she has to work for National Park Express with little or no pay. Almost in a crude begging sense. It was embarrassing to say the very least. Worst to come, 30 minutes from Las Vegas, Olivia decides to inform the passengers that there will be only two drop off points and not three when we arrive back. This not as stated in the booking contract. Several passengers complained stating "We have no way to get back to our hotel," It was now 8:30 pm in the evening and dark. My wife and I were dumped in some parking lot at the back of a hotel, No phone no money with us. The passengers complaints were met with a defiant "You should try walking" This was described as a "Guided Tour" ?Actually, It was nothing more than an oversized Uber with supervision, to make sure the trip stayed on time. Which it did not. Two passengers decided to not show up on time which delayed us meeting our schedule. Olivia, decided to allow the bus driver to drive some miles back to pick up the passengers. which took another 40 minutes of our time. In closing this trip is poorly managed, not living up to its advertised promise. Rude, demeaning supervisor. The lunch is a Store purchased sandwich and bag of chips. Which I understand they charge $35 USD for. These were purchased from a Grocery Store at $8.95 USD. Take my advice and use a professional tour company. This was booked through Viator who refuses to listen to my and others complaints. National Parks Express "A BIG ZERO" from us all.

This below was experienced by another traveller?

The driver was outstanding! She was very cautious and mindful of the highways we were traveling on. My chief complaint is with "OLIVIA" When we were leaving Upper Antelope Canyon and heading back to Vegas she thought that the bus load of adults would enjoy watching The Pixel movie Cars. Maybe 5 year olds would’ve enjoyed it, but there were zero kids on our bus. In addition to her blasting the sound on the movie, there was horrible and loud feedback through the speakers. The entire time (over 2 hours) the squealing feedback was NON-STOP. People on the bus were trying to talk to each other and/or nap but it was impossible to with the movie and feedback blaring. I have no idea how the driver was focusing on her driving. I was surprised that she never told her to shut the movie off. Olivia herself, was able to nap through about 1/2 of the movie. Unbelievable. I will not be choosing your tour company in the future.

Addendum: Nov 12:

Having contacted the National Park Express as requested in writing several weeks ago there has been to date NO Response?

Humiliating Experience – Beware Before Booking

Our experience with National Park Express was nothing short of shocking and unacceptable. My elderly parents were denied entry solely because they walk a little slower, while other guests older than them were allowed to continue. This was blatant discrimination and deeply humiliating for them.

When we requested a refund of USD $73 each, the company hid behind rigid policies instead of showing basic decency or compassion. Their so-called “goodwill offer” of a 40% discount on a future tour was an insult—especially since we are international tourists who had already left the USA.

What makes this worse is the double standard: safety was used as an excuse, yet others in similar or worse physical condition were permitted to join. This shows a complete lack of fairness, accountability, and respect for customers.

A company that treats paying guests in this manner does not deserve the trust of travelers. I strongly urge others to avoid National Park Express if you value dignity, fairness, and responsible service.

Grand canyon excursion

Gia, our guide for the Grand Canyon excursion was exceptional. She provided a lot of informations about places we crossed throughout and she was very funny. She took care of all of us, especially with the hot weather. A great experience that we recommend

A couple of poorly treated Aussies

Dreadful experience with National Park Express. So much so that I feel they owe all or partial refund. This is the sequence of what happened as against what was supposed to occur. We phoned them the day prior to the excursion, on their website saying to do so, asking them if there was anywhere closer than Treasure Island that we could be picked up, as we were staying at the Paris. They told us they would pick us up at the Horseshoe Hotel at 5.10am. We were there at 4.55am at the correct pickup point at the Horseshoe. Just after 5am a mini bus/van arrived to pick up clients for what the waiting passengers told us was for this excursion. Our name was not on the drivers' list, which was shown to me. I asked the driver what was going on and he said he didn't know and to" phone the other driver" as his tour may not have been with the same company, ridiculous. I said I didn't know who the other driver was or how to contact him or her and asked him to call to find out what was happening. He refused, closed the doors and departed. Time was running out and I called the office who said that there was no pickup at the Horseshoe and we had to get to Treasure Island or miss the tour. We had less that 10 minutes to do so. When I told him about their commitment to pick us up at the Horseshoe he said that he refused to even 'have this conversation'. I have been lied to, receiving emails from them via Viator saying "Your driver is at the Horseshoe hotel looking for you. He will leave in 2 minutes, if you miss the bus, please go to Treasure Island hotel before 5:30" and then "Your bus has now left the Horseshoe, if you still want to join the tour, please take a taxi to Treasure Island before 5:30". We were at the agreed Horseshoe pickup point in plenty of time, 4.55am for a 5.10am pickup, so these are just lies. We managed to get to Treasure Island in time via an expensive very short taxi trip, with about a minute left. The National Park Express driver was extremely hard to understand, often repeating himself ad nauseum, and many times confusing everyone on board by not clarifying what the times were to be during the day, many times quoting Nevada time as against Arizona time, there being a one hour difference. Then the bus broke down at our destination and had to be replaced. The replacement bus was filthy dirty, water marks all over the roof lining and many tools or cleaning implements were on the floor under the seats. People, including us in the back seat, found it difficult to get in and out without fear of twisting an ankle. Our driver was advised of this but made no attempt to remove the items from under our feet. I was asked asked by an email from Viator to confirm our lunch option which I did, the options being a turkey or beef sandwich, one of each being ordered. I received a number of further emails asking me to again to request the lunch option to NPE .I declined to do so, trusting the fact that I had already replied to them. In those additional emails they stated different time deadlines to reply, "48 hours" "24 hours" prior to departure, the requests came well inside that deadlines making them impossible to adhere to The lunch provided was disgusting and not what we ordered, the beef sandwich was nowhere to be seen, with the driver only having turkey sandwiches to provide, and had no idea that my order was different. The "Turkey sandwich" was revolting, with many other passengers as well as us taking one bite and throwing the remainder in the bin. The driver handed out our lunch boxes in the site carpark, with people having to juggle their lunch box and other gear with nowhere to sit other than on garden walls. We were then driven to the Antelope Canyon tour starting point where we had to wait around 40 minutes for the Indian guide to collect us. There was plenty of seating at the waiting point so why wouldn't the driver wait until then and there to hand out our lunches. Very poor organisation. After the Indian guide took us around to experience what we had come for, our driver said that three people would have to leave his replacement vehicle and get on a large NPE bus that had room for them going to Vegas, saying "one couple" and "one single person" could go on it. My wife and I volunteered as the "couple" only to find ourselves seated rows apart in what was three remaining seats spaced around the bus.
The Horseshoe Bend party of the tour allocated time was too short with not much to see, rushed, and physically taxing. Finally, as well as being lied to and treated very poorly by NPE at their office and work site, the Antelope Canyon tour was extremely poor value for money, a waste of time spent getting to and from for a very short visit. For their sake, I hope NPE don't treat their other customers in this manner. Just dreadful! I look forward to a response from NPE, if they bother to do so.
