I used Onboard Maritime for Chief Mates Unlimited orals prep course. All lessons, studying materials and lecturers were great, extremely helpful and understanding throughout the whole process. Questions were answered promptly even outside of class sessions. I appreciated and found very helpful that the group lessons were recorded so that I was able to watch them back multiple times throughout the revision process. Admin team were also extremely helpful and prompt in replies/ assistance.

I would highly recommend this approach to orals preparation and will definitely use myself again in the future!

A really good team at onboard maritime. They are very knowledgeable and conscientious about delivery of the course material. I love how the Oral Prep course is recorded so at the end you can download to your device for ever. That way you can self study from the videos and my own notes that were taken during lessons. They don't miss anything in the delivery of the course. I also Highly recommend the mock orals, which is great to steady the nerves. It was worth every penny and I would use them again if needed. The prep courses from Onboard Maritime have been instrumental in helping me pass both my Chief Mate orals exam and SQA written exams first time. The tutors are very professional, knowledgeable and always available for questions or additional support. The flipped classroom approach works brilliantly enabling me to focus my self-studying, practice exam technique and test my knowledge in the online sessions. I used Onboard Maritime for my Master 500 Near Coastal oral prep and honestly couldn’t recommend them more. The tutors were incredibly supportive and always quick to respond to questions via email. I mainly worked with Iain and Phillip—both were excellent, and I can’t speak highly enough of them.

The ‘flipped classroom’ style worked brilliantly. It encouraged me to study the material before each one-to-one session, which meant the tutors could focus on giving a full mock-style session on each topic. After covering nine different subjects, I then had a full mock oral exam to tie everything together.

All sessions were recorded, so I could go back and review them to identify areas where I needed to improve. The course content was outstanding, with clear videos and animations that really helped explain complex topics.

It’s by far the best oral prep I’ve done, and I’ll be recommending it to anyone preparing for their exam.

I’ve used OM now for both my Chief Mate Unlimited and Masters Unlimited orals prep, leading to first time passes of both exams, and would recommend them to anybody preparing for MCA oral exams.

Felt I was well prepared for and possessed a good depth of knowledge for the exams due to the extensive syllabus coverage at OM, and the live sessions helped massively in being able to articulate and structure that knowledge into good, exam level answers.

An excellent service provider for anyone wanting to achieve their Chief Mates or any other tickets. The platform and the content are far superior to anything I've used before with the colleges. The orals prep format is similar to an oral exam structure which helps get you ready for the exam. The writtens prep is also excellent with two video classes each week and a huge backlog of past recordings also.

Iain, Phil and Angus are all very knowledgeable and are always there to help you if you have any questions. Overall a great training provider and will get you fully prepared for your orals and written exams.

Onboard Maritime are a Fantastic company who helped me be 100% ready for both my Oral and IAMI exams. With the App it is easy to get access to all materials you need to learn and with the live sessions with Murray I was able to get into specific areas I struggled with. Being able to do Mock exams is the big difference here. As someone who isn't the most confident in talking out loud when explaining things, I was able to gain confidence and make tweeks to my explanations by practicing with Murray. Also being able to join group discussions and hearing how other cadets were learning and explaining things was also invaluable. The whole team at onboard maritime are fantastic and keep you updated all the time about everything you need to know. And even when passing I received multiple emails from them congratulating me and saying if I ever need them again in future they are there to help which is very nice. I would advise anyone who wants a better chance of passing what is a very difficult pair of exams to not hesitate in contacting Onboard Maritime and give themselves the best chance of passing.

Used Onboard Maritime for Chief officers written exams and Orals. Course was excellent and allows for remote learning.
Would fully recommend for all types of learners, all materials are extensive and tutors very helpful through the process.

The platform was really well laid out and the bank of questions relating to Part A was second to none. It’s helped massively and when sat the exam all went well. Once preparing for Part B the daily calls with Iain or one of the team and other students helped to tailor your answer and gain confidence. The content within the online platform helped also.

MCA Masters Orals Prep course was very good, 4 weeks of video tutorials plenty of content to work through on the Online Portal.

The course was essential in helping me prepare for my exam with confidence. Angus, Iain and Phil are incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and patient, breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable sections.

The discussions and lessons get you used to talking through answers from the start and constructive feedback is given throughout.

The online resources are comprehensive and broken down into manageable sections providing a broad bedrock of underpinning knowledge required.

I also had a mock oral with onboard and this helped provide me with added confidence to take forward to my exam.

A wealth of knowledge from each one of the tutors. So much online material which is very well presented, easy to follow and absorb. I also had some 1:1 tuition which was really beneficial, not to mention the support whenever I needed during my own revision. A great team and fun learning experience, highly recommend.

I used Onboard Maritime for the Chief Officers oral prep course. The course was 4 weeks and compromised blended learning using up to date online content which was then tested during small group classes to cover all the material in the syllabus. These classes were extremely beneficial to get experience talking in front of the camera.
The online content is well presented, easy to digest and accessible online through the Onboard learning portal. There is a lot of material to cover.
Angus, Iain and Phil were excellent tutors, they know what you need to know and gave constructive feedback throughout the course. With a wealth of seafaring experience between them, it was a very positive experience. There is the added benefit of access to recent orals reports.

I chose Onboard Maritime for my master unlimited orals preparation after receiving a recommendation from a friend.

After passing my exam first time, I can certainly recommend them to anyone who is considering going up for an MCA oral exam.

The course is a combination of self-study and flipped classroom style live sessions.

For the self study, you are provided with all the resources you need to help you prepare for your exam. The materials are accessed through an easy to use app which contains everything you will need to know and more!

The flipped classroom style live sessions really help get you into the right frame of mind before going up for your exam.
You are given a timetable so you know the topics that will be covered prior to each session.
The lectures then ask you orals style questions related to the topics you have studied and guide you through your answers with constructive feedback.
The live sessions are recorded to allow you to access them again as many times as you need to help you in areas where you feel you need to work on.

The lectures Iain, Angus and Phillip are all fantastic at what they do! They have a vast knowledge and experience which gets you to a level beyond where you need to be by the time your exam date comes around.

I worked with Onboard Maritime while studying for my OOW Unlimited Part A and B. Iain and Phil's daily tutorials provided a interesting and friendly environment to learn. All the lessons went in to a good amount of depth without being overwhelming. I felt my progression was very steady due to this and I felt very ready to sit my exams which I passed first time.
The learning materials available on the website is good quality and also covers all the topics at the appropriate level.
I will definitely look at signing up for the Onboard Maritime Chief Mates prep courses when the time comes.
