Damaged Tissue Cultures, Disappointing Customer Service, and a Second Chance Wasted
Title:
Unfortunately, my experience with The Plant Nook Shop has been extremely disappointing, both in terms of plant quality and how my concerns were handled.
My first order included an Alocasia ‘Ninja Albo Lava Variegated’ tissue culture that arrived completely melted inside its sealed bag, before I even had the opportunity to deflask it. I contacted the shop, provided photographic evidence, and politely asked whether a replacement or store credit would be possible.
Indra responded that they were unable to offer a replacement but would be willing to include a “goodie or two” with my next order.
Rather than receiving a meaningful resolution for a plant that arrived unusable, I was essentially offered a courtesy item if I spent more money with the business.
Despite my disappointment, I decided to give them another chance and placed a second order for $83.78, including $19.99 for two-day shipping.
Unfortunately, that second order was another disappointment.
The Monstera ‘Crème Brûlée’ tissue culture I purchased arrived in poor condition, with approximately half the plant melted. It looked more like a rehabilitation project than a healthy tissue culture.
The complimentary tissue culture that was supposed to make up for my previous experience was not something I had requested or ordered. It was an additional Philodendron ‘Red Heart’, even though I had not placed an order for that plant.
While I never expected an expensive free plant, I did expect a more thoughtful resolution after receiving a completely melted tissue culture in my first order.
I regularly purchase and acclimate tissue cultures and fully understand their delicate nature and the risks involved. However, receiving compromised plants before acclimation even begins is a completely different issue.
What disappointed me most was the combination of poor plant quality and a resolution that required another purchase, only for that purchase to arrive with additional problems.
After two disappointing experiences, I have lost confidence in The Plant Nook Shop’s quality control and customer service.
I will not be purchasing from this business again and cannot recommend them based on my experience.
