Very disappointing experience with Pod Point in Northern Ireland
Unfortunately, my experience with Pod Point has been extremely disappointing from start to finish.
If you’re based in Northern Ireland, be prepared for significant delays after paying to get your charger installed despite the adverts regarding fast instalation. After finally getting mine installed, I expected the problems to be over but I’ve now only had the charger for 6 days and have already had to contact Pod Point three times because it has stopped working.
What has made the situation even worse is the customer service. On every occasion I’ve called, I’ve come off the phone feeling absolutely furious. I’ve found the staff to be rude, dismissive and constantly talking over me rather than actually listening to the problem. When you’ve paid for a product and it isn’t working properly within days of installation, the very least you expect is to be treated with respect when asking for help.
I completely understand that technical problems can happen, but the way those problems are dealt with makes a huge difference. Unfortunately, my experience with Pod Point’s customer service has only added to the frustration. Every time I’ve asked to speak to a manager I have been told none are available and if I wanted to raise a complaint I needed to do so via their website. Also, the car takes 11 hours for a full charge from home which seems painfully slow.
Based on my experience so far, I would find it very difficult to recommend Pod Point, particularly to anyone in Northern Ireland. The installation delays, repeated problems with a charger that is less than a week old, and the attitude I’ve encountered from customer service have made the whole experience incredibly frustrating.

Podpoint took a lot of money for a home charging cable, but never sent the charger itself. I tried to call them 15+ times in attempt to get our hard-earned money back. Countless emails explaining our frustration, but no response.
When calling, they kept asking us to fill out a form online which didn’t work.
The customer service is non-existent, please avoid to save yourself a lot of hassle.
Podpoint - Avoid at all costs
I am writing this review about the extremely poor customer service I have received from Podpoint.
Before purchasing my new electric car I obviously needed to get a home charger installed. I initially decided to go with Podpoint, who was the recommended EV charger EDF suggested, (owned by EDF).
After reading further poor reviews I cancelled the order the following day 7th May 2026. Since then I have been in constant contact with them asking about my refund. Each time I got a reply,( AI created replies), I was assured that the matter was very important and that the issue had been “escalated further”. After two months I decided to copy in Melanie Lane the CEO, however I did not even get an acknowledgment from her or anyone in her office.
On 13th July I received an email, from a different email address, saying they were sorry I had “just” cancelled and that my refund would be with me within 5-10 days. There was no acknowledgment about the time taken or an offer of some form of compensation for the loss of the use of my money (out of pocket £549 for 10 weeks).
This is a poor company with very poor customer service.
The staff must have some sort of incentive to keep customers money for as long as they can.
Although I have now received my money back (12 weeks later), I have not had a written apology from the company. I followed up with Podpoint about compensation and they forward my concerns to their complaints department. I finally got a response from them and they have agreed that the service I recommend was below their expected standard. They have offered me £60 compensation, which I have accepted. I am due to receive this in 10 working days.
Do yourself a favour and avoid. I am now with Ohme, who have been excellent.
Don’t bother
Don’t bother. Spend more time rebooting the charger than it actually charges. Utter garbage. Steer well clear.
Avoid Podpoint
I’ve just had a similar experience with Podpoint. Referred to them by BMW. Paid upfront and did the survey then….nothing. Phoned three times and after a 39 minute call through their operations eventually had a project manager call back. He then informed me that the cable could not be routed through my loft as their engineers weren’t insured!!! Requested a refund which is now pending. Worst customer service ever. Avoid avoid!!!
I am writing regarding my Pod Drive…
I am writing regarding my Pod Drive application.
I completed the entire online survey last Monday, made the required upfront payment and signed the 36 month Pod Drive agreement at £34 per month.
It is now almost a week later and I have heard absolutely nothing regarding the next steps or, most importantly, an installation date.
I urgently require a home charger for my electric vehicle, which is precisely why I completed everything requested and made payment immediately. I am therefore extremely disappointed to have been left completely in the dark since then.
Please could someone urgently review my application and contact me to confirm:
That everything required from me has been received and approved.
Whether there is anything outstanding preventing the installation from proceeding.
The earliest available installation date.
I would appreciate this being treated as urgent. Having paid and entered into a 36 month agreement, I would expect considerably better communication regarding when the service is actually going to be provided.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Hopeless Podpoint
Our Podpoint worked well initially and used 99% solar power so we were running for very little cost to recharge our hybrid. We replaced my petrol car with an ev vehicle in July 26. Up to then it was my wife who had the app but I added it to my phone when I got the new car. I noticed since the end of March we were using 99%grid which my wife never checked. We phoned podpoint who blamed the Wi-Fi but told them nothing had changed. We moved the router closer then after a few days replaced the router and nothing different. Every time we phoned it was a different person with yet another idea. Kept saying they were talking to technical department. They said they were trying things at their end but no difference. We kept asking for someone to come out but that was never going to happen. Then last Friday they more or less wiped their hands of us even with it under warranty. I had said to my wife the whole time that I was just waiting for them to blame the solar panels which he did on the Friday. I looked on line and messaged someone on line who was well up on knowledge regarding podpoint. Anyway he told us to remove the ct clamp when phoned us on Saturday but we’re heading out so had to wait until Sunday. Anyway we removed it and charged our hybrid and low and behold it charged with 100% solar. We then charged my ev vehicle and again 100% Solar usage. I e mailed them to get their comments and yes you guessed right, no reply. Bad when someone outwith their organisation can solve it within a short period of time. My wife looked up on AI and the same info was available regarding ct clamp.
Absolutely concur with everything…
Absolutely concur with everything that's been said. The worst company I have ever had the misfortune to be involved with. Obsessed with apps and collecting customer data but completely unconcerned about simply providing a product that simply charges the car. To put you all through the countless stories of my experience would take hours. It is simply staggering that a company can be so incompetent in every single area of their operation and still be getting away with it!
Terrible customer service!
I have never received such poor customer service from any company EVER!! The lack of communication and respect for people’s time is astonishing. They clearly do not read the reviews or even care! I have not been able to charge my car for over 5 weeks. Finally they said they will send a technician and confirmed the appointment for today. I waited in all day, rescheduled my work, but the technician did not even show up. They didn’t even call to apologise or answer one of my many emails. Disgraceful!
Failed order
I ordered a Pod Point charger and the experience from start to finish was extremely frustrating. After placing the order, I heard absolutely nothing for three weeks until I had to contact them myself. I was then asked to resend photos and videos that had already been provided.
Another week passed with no update, so I contacted them again, only to be told they hadn't received the photos I had sent again. Communication was clearly a major issue.
An installation appointment was eventually booked, only for it to be cancelled because Pod Point decided a survey was required instead. I waited in for the survey appointment, but nobody turned up and I received no proper explanation.
Things got even worse when they later sent someone on a new date that I had never agreed to. Despite this, they had the audacity to claim I had missed the appointment and that I would be charged £100 for another visit.
At that point, I had completely lost confidence in the process and cancelled the order, receiving a refund. What should have been a straightforward charger installation turned into weeks of chasing, wasted time and unnecessary frustration.
A company can have problems, but the way they communicate and handle customers is what matters — and in this case, Pod Point failed badly. I would not recommend them.
Absolute sham of a company! AVOID!
Absolute sham of a company. Customer service is shocking. Rang 3 times over 3 weeks waiting for a so called project manager to call me back which never happens.
Engineer who initially came out to review the property prior to home charger instalation was a disengaged joke, who didnt care about what he was doing, was actively looking for any reason not to carry out the work. He had no common sense whatsoever and demanded we raised our wooden floor to install the charge point. I refused and asked him to process a refund and I would go elsewhere.
After 2 days of not hearing anything, not even a confirmation I had requested a refund. I emailed Pod Point, to which 2 days later I recieved a generic response and within 6 days they emailed to say they were closing the case.
I phoned them but due to apparent long wait times requested a call back whilst saving my place in the queue...this never came.
Eventually the next day I got through to someone and after being passed to 3 different people, explaining my situation each time to them I was told my case had been escalated and I would recieve a call from the project manager. A week later, still no call, no email and no refund!
I call again the following week having the same issue being passed from pillar to post, before once again being told the project manager was unavailable.
Still now awaiting a resolution!
Never part ways with your money to this company, they are an absolute farce!
Difficult to contact customer service
i tried to contact customer service today and what a stressful experience that was. The AI bot did not understand a word I said and kept putting me through using her example. I wanted to report that I was not able to log into the app and there was not function to do this. I tried at last 5 times to get through before I lost it, started shouting and I think the AI felt bad for me and put me through to a human. I wouldn't say he solved my problem as I am still not receiving text messages - he also used the words 'that is now out of my remit', so I am still unable to use PodPoint to charge my car when out and about. They do not want you to contact them - they have put up so many barriers.
I have used their public chargers 4…
I have used their public chargers 4 times and 3 times my charger was stuck from both ends and had to contact their customer service which took about 40 mins.
Avoid like the plague!!!!!!!!!!
Not worked for months!
I use the pod point chargers at my local Tesco in Faversham, Kent, but they have all been out of service for around 4-5 months now!
I have emailed Pod point a few times & just get a reply of ‘we’re on it’ … ‘we’re waiting for access to the site’
The site is a huge Tesco car park!!
I checked in store with the manager & he said he would chase it … Again!
Pod point say they can’t give any info as to what the problem is as ‘it’s against GDPR’ what a load of rubbish! I don’t want name, personal or company details, I want to know why it hasn’t been fixed or when it actually will be - if ever!
Terrible customer service & service in general! Would be no star if possible!
clumbsy
clumbsy, clunky, difficult.
6 TIMES the cost of charging at home
get stuffed podpoint - you need a mask and pistols over a clown's face as your truthful logo
Hands down the WORST company have I…
Hands down the WORST company have I ever had to deal with. Ordered a lease car through NHS Fleet solutions and this is the company they use for chargers. My god, how I wish it was someone else. Initially booked in for installation date from a random UK mobile number, fine. Booked day off work and another number text to say he couldn't make it. No follow up call from head office, original mobile number now just rings out and doesn't reply to messages. Complete farce all round. When you finally can get through to PodPoint it's some sort of call centre abroad where you get passed around 3 different teams with the promise of a "project manager" calling you back and empty promises. My paper work was submitted in May and it's now August with absolutely zero communication from the company, it's mind blowing how so many people have the same review and experience yet they still manage to be a working company. God knows why NHS use these charlatans, utter waste of time. I'm going to end up with an electric car and no charger at this rate. Terrible, terrible terrible!!
Indescribably Bad Service
I ordered a Pod Point charger through EDF on 13th June 2026 and pay £500 towards installation. About a week later I was asked to send survey information to Pod Point, which I did. I didn't hear anything so called. Staff are very polite but I was passed between departments where all I seemed to do was give the same repeated security information. Someone was always going to call be back. Eventually Hannah called and requested for more pictures and videos. I sent pictures but she said she would send a whatsapp number for the videos as they were too big for email. I never got the number. I asked if they were unable to do the installation if she could let me know as I'd have to go to another company. Despite several calls no-one called back. At the end of my tether today I tried to escalate the issue. I hung up after more than an hour waiting on the phone!! I have emailed again today and I have now contacted EDF to see if they can help me. This service is impossibly bad. I can't even see a way to cancel if I can't actually speak to anyone.
Appalling - take your money and promise much but deliver little
I wish I’d read these reviews before getting involved with this company. It being associated with my energy company,EDF, gave me confidence to pay £499 up front to install a car charger. After complying with their requirements for information, including many photos, I heard nothing.
Having chased this up after 5 weeks it now seems they can only do half a job. They will supply the cable and charging point but won’t run the cable as it needs to go through the house. Something I made very clear when I completed their survey. According to their engineer I need to get someone to run the cable.
As this is not a seamless service I will not be availing myself of Podpoint.
Now I just need to get my money back and reading these reviews I’m not optimistic. Currently 30 minutes on hold to speak to an agent!
My advice. Stay away!
DO NOT BUY A PODPOINT CHARGER!
DO NOT BUY A PODPOINT CHARGER!!
Faulty charger and can’t get anyone out to look at it. They take ages to get back to me and just ask for more of the same photos!
Absolutely fuming with this disgusting company!!
Public chargers always broken
I use (or at least try to) their public chargers at Tescos. This is convenient because I can charge my car whilst I’m shopping. Or not, because more often than not they are out of order or break whilst in use. When they are eventually fixed again they don’t last long until breaking again. I have no idea why a big company like Tesco chose to allow this pathetic company to win the contract to provide EV charging on their premises. I hope they won’t be renewing with them in future so that I can actually charge my car whilst shopping.
