I was contacted by a Lauren Cobb from this company trying sell me its services. Their business is to help other businesses grow. They claim to have a gigantic database of contacts that can bring in millions of dollars of new business. I told her that they would need to prove to me that their database of contacts would actually work in my business. She asked me to define my "dream customers" for her. I did. And she told me she would send me a sample list of 1000 potential prospects for me to test out before subscribing to their services. She also schedule me to meet with one of her VPs on a zoom call.

I agreed to take that sales call on the understanding that they would be providing me with the test list. Lauren assured me in writing that the VP would provide me with such list during the zoom call.

During the zoom call, the VP - who looked like a used car salesman (my apologies to used car salesmen) told me that there is no such list. I shared with him the email I got from Lauren promising me the list. He then sheepishly said that Lauren is not a real person. She was an AI assistant. He said that they would have to tweak their AI logarithm.

So this guy was hiding behind an AI assistant and disavowed any responsibility for sending out false promises under his company's name. He said I would have to pay these jokers $17,000 a month to subscribe to their database with zero assurance that it would work for my business.

The scam Detector's algorithm gives this business a Trust Index of 49%. This company's website was created on Nov 22, 2024. The scam Detector says it has its doubt about this company.

Update: The company now claims that they are still offering a list of 1000 names - which is NOT what the VP told me. I will take up the offer. Send me the list.

They were also quite responsive — usually getting back within a few hours or the same day — and were open to feedback. When we asked for changes or wanted to test new ideas, they adapted quickly without making it complicated.
