I had the most amazing experience. My guide, Lakmal, was so knowledgeable and went above and beyond for my trip. He honestly made the whole trip 1000x better than I could have imagined. I would definitely recommend travelling Sri Lanka with rediscover journeys. I learnt so much about Sri Lanka’s history and culture and had an exceptional journey travelling around the country.

Let me save you the trouble of searching for drivers and state that Janith/Rediscover Journeys is a guaranteed rock solid guide company! My group was of 4 women and we felt extremely safe and taken care of the entire time.

I would, and did, trust our driver Janith with my life. Without him we surely would run into so many issues. Our trip was seamless with him. He drove us throughout our entire trip (Colombo- Mirissa-Yala-Ella-Ambelwela-Kandy-Dambula-Colombo) and anytime he would drop us off at a location, he would ensure to be very easy to find once we were finished. He had great recommendations and catered his facts to what he thought we’d interested in.

Again, can’t say enough good things about our trip with rediscover Journeys, specifically with Janith. If you go based on this review, please tell him hi for me!

We did an 8 day trip around Sri Lanka, doing your typical Colombo->Mirissa->Yala->Ella->Kandy->Sigiriya trip with this company and we had a truly wonderful experience.

The van was great and suited our needs The AC was great and we had everything we needed including enough drinking water. Janith must have cleaned it regularly because it always looked clean, despite us dragging in mud a few times. We learned that we are the last customers to use this particular van, so you will sure get an even better one!

But the company isn’t really about the vehicle, it’s about the driver. Our drivers name is Jaith and he was the best. First and foremost, Janith is a great safe driver. For those of us from different continents, driving around Asia (especially on windy mountain roads) can be kinda scary but he never sped and he was a diligent driver. I cannot say the same for our safari or tuktuk drivers. It meant a lot to feel safe driving on the entire trip.

Janith followed our itinerary and clarified every step with us as we went. He had perfect suggestions and he took care of all sorts of things like tolls and surprised us by buying us local bananas and curd to try. He was extremely professional and reliable and kind. The things he suggested were complete game-changers, whether that was a delicious buffet of 30 different hot local dishes, or getting us a trusted guide for Sigiriya. He really enhanced our vacation with every suggestion.

We came to think of Janith as a father figure, as he was taking care of us so well and he often would come along with us on certain hikes or whatever. He was our guide, interpreter, and our friend. He made sure we got the right tickets for things and didn’t get ripped off. He made sure that we got on the train properly and waved goodbye. We invited him to meals with us and constantly peppered him with questions. He was very patient and kind and made some really good jokes. We felt 100% safe and comfortable with him as a driver and as a person.

Hiring a driver for the trip was absolutely the move and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am a very critical person and I cannot find a fault in this experience. HIRE HIM.

How to best describe the best driver I will ever have? Well, Janith was very professional, kind, patient, easy going, knowledge, safe, trustworthy, funny, talented. Those are just a few words to explain him. He was amenable to last second changes, but also gave great suggestions when we asked for them. I couldn't recommend him any more, and I am so sad I won't have Janith for every trip forever in my future. He was the first driver I've ever hired for a trip, and now I have very high standards. I woud rate 10 + stars if i could. We booked our trip trough Stjernegaard and REDISCOVER was our local agency. MANOJ our driver-guide was always friendly and on time. He provided us with water and snacks every day. He knew everthing about his country and we learned a lot about history, nature and culture.
Even when the iran-war started and our flights back home were cancelled they all took care of us. We always felt safe and informed what is the next step to do. In the end they found a solution that brought uns back home on a safe route. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience under very special conditions. I highly recommend REDISCOVER. Ask for MANOJ as driver-guide and you will have a perfect Sri Lanka experience.

You can feel a close communication between the danish travelagency and his
travelagency. All the way good communication between guide and local agency. All 3 parts know what they are doing.
Fernando (our driver and guide) made us feel safe in the Sri Lankan crazy traffic. He was always very well prepared - driving or guiding. He is clever (knows so many things about his country, and many other things:) smart thinking, very good at english, a good planner, helpful, carrying and SO flexible. He wants you to have the best experineces. He uses his experinece and contacts around Sri Lanka too give you even more daytrips, than you decidede before going - but is it always up to you, if you want to go:)
Any problems he and the agency is there to solve it, if possible.

We have been driving around in Sri Lanka for one week - and our driver Fernando has done a fantastic job. He really care for his job and want to give us all the best of Sri Lanka.
He has humor, knowledge of many thing, speak good English and very nice be around.

We just returned from an absolutely fantastic trip to Sri Lanka with Stjernegaard, and it exceeded all expectations.

The journey was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. The 7-day round tour took us across the island (around 1,200 km), giving us a truly diverse experience of Sri Lanka – from lush landscapes and cultural highlights to wildlife and local life. Everything was very well organized, and we always felt in safe and capable hands.

Our guide and driver were exceptional – knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible – which made the experience even more personal and enjoyable.

After the tour, we had a few days of beach relaxation, which was the perfect way to unwind after many great impressions.

Even when our return journey was unexpectedly extended due to international circumstances, everything was handled smoothly, and we felt well supported throughout.

Sri Lanka is an incredible destination, and Stjernegaard delivered a seamless, memorable, and high-quality travel experience from start to finish.

Everything was just amazing!
Our driver and guide Manoj - 6 stars for him!!! - showed us all the places we wanted to visit, was available all the time, explained and shared a lot of knowledge about Sri Lanka, its culture, the sites we were visiting etc. It was a true pleasure to have him as our guide!

Rediscover as a company was always reachable and in touch with us, and extremely supportive and helpful when we unvoluntarily had to prolong our stay due to the war in ME. We felt in the safest hands with them all the time and can only recommend the company to anyone planning to travel to Sri Lanka.

Vores guide Manoj var vidende indenfor mange forskellige områder. Meget venlig og imødekommende. Vi havde hele tiden fornemmelsen af, at vi var det vigtigste. Manoj fulgte hele tiden op på vores hoteller og hvad han ellers kunne gøre for at hjælpe os. Vi fik brug for apotekervarer, og også her fik vi det ordnet.
Vi havde fået indtryk af, at vi skulle på en byrundtur i Kandy i tuktuk. Det viste sig dog at være en tur til 2 forskellige buddistiske templer. En fin tur men vi vil ikke kalde det en by-rundtur.
Alt i alt en meget fin oplevelse.
Får man Manoj som chauffør og guide skal man være glad og nyde det.

Vi er nødt til at lave en anmeldelse på Tissa Artukorala alene. Fra det øjeblik vi mødtes i lufthavnen til bi sagde farvel samme sted så var Tissa der på alle de gode måder vi overhovedet kan tænke på. Han er utroglig vidende, venlig, imødekommede gør simpelhen alt for en. Kommer hele tiden med små gaver forslag til turer som måske ikke lige indgik i det faste program. Men ikke mindst det mindste vink og der bliver taget aktion. Fra en lille bemærkning om at madrassen var for hård til at hotellet 5 minutter efter bytter den. Jeg havde nogle problemer med min hud og den meget sol og straks har Tissa undersøgt hvornår der er tid på det nærmeste hospital.
1000 tak Tissa fordi du gjorde vores tur rundt i dit dejlige land til en udsøgt fornøjelse. Det var en ære at møde dig

10 days on the move with each day being a fantastic experience. Each accommodation was great with the stand out being Nil Sisila in the Yala National Park area. The husband and wife team created fantastic meals and are just lovely people.
Our driver, guide and new friend Saman, made our time away special. He was able to solve any small problems that do occur in this part of the world, with speed and a smile. He was punctual, polite, knowledgeable, well dressed and a very caring person. We highly recommend Saman. He is a credit to the company.
