I gotta try something I guess

We recently had the pleasure of working with RetireBetter and Sunita Sahi-Nanua for our mortgage loan.
Sunita is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She goes above and beyond for her clients.
She was always available when we needed her and exceptionally helpful. Sunita walked us through the entire process from start to finish and made the entire experience seamless. It just made everything so much easier, which is greatly appreciated.
We highly recommend Retirebetter and Sunita to anyone looking for exceptional, personalized service.

Started the process in August 2024. This is almost the end of October. It takes way too long to complete. Granted we are a retired couple but we do find contracts very hard to understand and email for verification. We wait all week for a response and usually end up receiving an answer on Friday afternoon giving us little opportunity to get the information requested. We thought 2 weeks to complete.

I called Retire Better and spoke to a lady named Sinita who expressed that using her company could get a higher percentage of a loan rather than using CHIP alone. I asked some questions and gave her my property address for the potential loan.

She asked me what I thought my property was worth so I gave her a number to work with. She calculated the loan amount based on that number and told me what I could qualify for.

Both CHIP and Retire Better say that a person, based on age and equity in their home can get a certain percentage of that equity as a reverse mortgage.

CHIP will loan up to 55% but Sinita told me that using their business could get me a higher percentage of loan than using CHIP.

So, after the call, I calculated, based on the number I gave her that my home was worth, ( 350,000 ), that I had only qualified for 27.71% = ( 97,000 ), with my age being 74.

So, anyway, I told Sinita I would call back if interested.

About a week later, I called and left a message but got no return call from Sinita.

A few days later, I called and got a hold of her, had a brief discussion, and gave her my email to send some application info to.

Well, I never got anything to my email inbox.

Now, a few weeks later, still nothing---even though I had called her number after receiving nothing before, and left a message that I had not received anything, and spelled out my email again for her.

So, this was a useless exercise in futility trying to deal with this company.

You'd think that after several calls, this Sinita, who is the head broker of Retire Better would treat a potential customer better.

I would not recommend dealing with this company because of the treatment I received and spelled out above.

Furthermore, a couple of years ago, a program called "Marketplace" I believe, that was on one of the Canadian TV channels--had a very extensive review of a reverse mortgage company that is well known.

That program showed the dangers of these reverse mortgages and I remember distinctly them showing that a person could lose their home to a bank in less than 5 years by using a reverse mortgage.

I'm not saying that a person should not use this financial product---BUT---buyer beware and use products like this wisely--and with the advice of your lawyer.

Your apology is appreciated however, first impressions are very important. I tried several times to contact your representative leaving my contact information each of those times. I still received no response, and I really don't feel comfortable dealing with your company even though the problem may have been with your associate. Thank you.

My deal isn’t finished yet but right from the start Ajay made you feel comfortable has so been very helpful you feel that someone is in your corner
