I purchased a month of service for $37.94 to try it out. I requested 5 enhanced images based on an image I uploaded to them. This resulted in very poor quality images that looked amateurish, poorly rendered, and were of zero value. A few days later I took another stab at it and I was informed that my credits were depleted, and they needed more money before I could generate a short video. Sheesh Runway, what a shoddy way to do business.

This experience was a total waste of my time. This site as I see it is a total scam cashing in on people new to AI. I deleted my account and I will not waste my time trying to wrestle my $38 back from this useless company. I will check my credit card to ensure that they have not tried to bill me for another month. They should show more self respect in this competitive field.

The problem is that even when you are still learning how to use the service, you lose limited credits for results that are not usable if the prompt is not correct.

This means you can spend your credits very quickly before you even understand how the tool works properly.

Then, when you ask for a refund, you are told that you used the service, even though in reality you were only trying to learn it and did not receive real value for the money.

This feels unfair and very disappointing.

During the free trial I was very impressed with the app and it did exactly what I needed. Then after purchasing the ai stopped being able to follow simple promos like ‘landscape’ or ‘portrait’, if I imported a portrait it would turn it into landscape and vice versa. It appeared to stop following my prompts when I purchased the plan, but this could be coincidental.

I messaged to ask to have £10 - £25 credits reimburse to my Runway account. I’d wasted far more than this on the app not following simple prompts, so in my opinion, this was a fair ask. They havent got back to me so I imagine my request has been ignored.

I subscribed to Runway expecting high-quality generative video results based on their marketing materials. The promotional content strongly suggests that cinematic-quality videos can be created from well-structured prompts.

However, in practice, I was unable to generate even a simple 3D turntable animation of a clean geometric logo that matched the provided reference images. Despite carefully refining prompts, simplifying instructions, and even using AI assistance to optimize prompt structure, the outputs consistently failed to match the requested design or maintain visual consistency.

The system frequently:

Altered the original design by adding unwanted elements

Flattened 3D depth despite explicit volumetric instructions

Failed to maintain structural integrity during rotation

Produced results inconsistent with the given references

This required repeated attempts, consuming credits without achieving the expected outcome.

The gap between marketing expectations and real-world performance is significant. If professional-grade cinematic results are advertised, users should be able to achieve high-quality short animations with reasonable control and reliability.

At this stage, I do not feel the product meets the level of precision or consistency suggested by its promotional materials.

Scam company.
Bought some credits, it would not do what I asked, kept doing wildly out of line things. When I asked for a refund they said they read my prompts and could see why I was frustrated but don't refund used credits. It literally was doing NOTHING near what I asked it. This company should not be allowed to be in business.

I initially tried Runway's free plan, only to find it was essentially useless and offered almost no real functionality. The quality shown in their marketing, however, convinced me to pay for a subscription, assuming it would provide a genuine opportunity to create complete videos.

This turned out to be a massive mistake.

I barely started generating a single video before my paid credits were immediately exhausted. I couldn't even get one valid, complete output; the system demanded I purchase more credits almost instantly. It completely negates the purpose of paying for a monthly subscription when the actual cost is tied to a rapidly depleting pay-per-use credit system.

I contacted customer service for an explanation and requested either a refund or a credit refill, but they flatly refused both options.

It is truly lamentable and incredibly frustrating to pay a recurring subscription fee only to be credit-gated and left unable to generate even a basic finished product. This setup is misleading. I deeply regret not having looked for reviews beforehand, as it seems many other users have fallen into the exact same trap.

Avoid the subscription unless you are prepared for immediate, hidden costs.

I am extremely disappointed with Runway. I purchased the Standard Plan and used it for a single prompt, which immediately consumed 320 of my 625 credits. After that, I wasn’t able to generate any more videos.

Runway’s website feels unclear and deceptive in how it presents its plans and credit usage. It was also very difficult to find a way to contact the company.

The only positive part of my experience was that Runway processed my refund quickly.
