Full Coverage is a lie
I had been on full coverage with this company for almost 5 years making every single payment on time. Even paying ahead when I could. Never had one incident or accident that had to pull money from their pockets. November 28, 2023 around 5:30am (still pitch black outside) I Rear ended somebody on the highway that had no brake lights ( or any Lights at all) and going Substantially under the speed limit. While I was getting blamed and no one would believe me, I didn’t get a single dime while having full coverage, and now owe over $20,000 for damages. I’m a lower class citizen with $20,000 in debt now, and they didn’t even offer to help a little. What’s the point of paying them $300 month, full coverage, for 5 years, If I can’t even get a little help
Exorbitant and Unworthy
For Safe Auto Insurance as a whole, I don't like this company. I had their insurance for years, from 16 years old while paying my part on my dad's coverage through about 29 years old on my own. I wish i had checked out other providers years before I switched, because I was paying from $146/mo to $161/mo every single month for full coverage on my $19k new car for 4 years, as well as before and after those 4 years, with a clean driving record except for a small speeding ticket, which was too long ago to affect my rate the last few years. I couldn't get any better rate with them. I switched to Erie Insurance and got 3 times better coverage and I pay ONE THIRD the price: $54/mo! It seemed to me that the only thing SA cared about was getting their outrageous payment as soon as it was almost due. Even just seeing how their app told me when it was due and counted down to the date in big red numbers with exclamation points disgusted me. And it didn't refresh when i logged in- it always said it was overdue by so many days- and i had to log out and back in or something. And i don't really ever like calling any customer service team, period, so the fact that i didn't particularly like SA's service is no surprise. Nor is there anything good or bad specifically that stands out to me about it. I will never ever ever go back to Safe Auto, Lord willingly. They don't deserve the money they get.

Major Fail
Been a customer since 2014. Added a new truck to my policy before leaving the car lot. Was quoted on the phone that my new insurance payment would be $185. Eight days later, when my renewal came up, the payment was $229. I called and asked why, didn’t get a clear answer, asked to speak to manager and was told, “ You weren’t misquoted, she just didn’t have all the information in front of her. And you KNEW you had a renewal coming up!”
Quoting incorrectly without all the information in front of you is misquoting. And apparently it’s my fault for being misquoted and not having a second job as an insurance agent.

My wife was in an auto accident on 10/31/2022. The other driver ran into the side of my wife’s car, and it was determined to be the other persons fault and they were issued a citation. I contacted their insurance company, Safe Auto Insurance shortly afterwards. After a long delay an adjuster contacted me. He sent me an app to take photos of my car and send it to them. I did that, and the adjuster sent me an estimate of what they would pay. I took my car to a local body shop and left it with them. The body shop sent the insurance company their estimate of the cost of repair which was much greater than the adjusters estimate. At some point, someone contacted the body shop and told them they were going to total the car. The body shop heard nothing more from them, and called me after 2-3 weeks to see if I’ve heard anything. I told them I hadn’t been contacted and didn’t know they were going to total the car. I’ve been trying to talk to someone from the company for the last 3-4 weeks with no luck. I’ve only been able to talk to a real live human being once, and she gave me the new adjusters name, phone number and email address. Turns out the phone number was false and belonged to a different adjuster. I’ve called the company and adjuster and left voice messages with no response. I’ve emailed the adjuster and company with no response. I’ve texted the adjuster with no response. I’ve gotten on the company’s Facebook page and left messages and comments with no response. As of this writing, it is March 7, 2023, and I know no more than when I started.

If I could give negative reviews I would. Wish I had just bit the bullet and we r with a more reliable insurance. This company seems to be scammers. I paid my full bill plus a 6.99 convenience fee, whatever that is. Thought ok great bills paid. Then I get a text at 9:04, 4 minutes after they have closed customer service saying my policy will be cancelled tomorrow without payment. When I had just paid 140 for liability no extra anything, with a clean driving record and no claims. So I get on my account to check and see what’s going on. Somehow I owed 0.03. Yes 3 cents, even though I paid the full amount just earlier that day. So since they had just closed the customer service I couldn’t call tonight to get that corrected, so again I get on my app to pay the 0.03 cents they claim I owe plus ANOTHER 6.99 convenience fee. I will be finding a different insurance as soon as the 6months are up. Horrible shady tactics.

I'm so sick and tired of getting reminders 2 days after I make a payment.
And allstate ownes safe auto but they don't inform you
New policy holder/wasted time
New policy holder. Made it almost one year. Multiple mailings prior to auto pay informing me policy would be cancelled due to non-payment. Signed up for paperless and still received bills in mail. I purchased by new car and spent an hour on phone with csa setting all up. Find out when the company failed to take entire payment for bill they were cancelling my policy as my ev was too heavy. When I inquired as to whether they insure SUVs and large luxury vehicles the operator had no answer. Save time and money and go elsewhere. If this is service you get imagine what filing a claim would be like.
Payment Pricing Changed
You changed the amounts and then lied about what was said! Changed price for discounts and coverage and did not explain any of it. Was ask why would you originally quote someone and let them make the original down payment and the month then change their price without notice!
Horrible service, scam for more money
In December I called and got a policy with an SR22, or so I thought. Even with staying multiple times that that was what I needed, it was never put in place and thanks to the mistake on their end it caused issue with my license. When I found out I called to have it rectified only to be told I would have to pay AGAIN for a while new policy. I filled a complaint and was told I would receive a call back and never did.

Literally, until one dark night couple yrs ago, coming home off night shift a deer vs. car happened to me! The claim process was MINDBOGGLINGLY quick/simple/easy-to-understand! The ONLY hold up was happened during "pandemic" and body-shop had issues getting parts... & then did a crappy-rush job... BUT my insurance company DID AWESOME! Fast fwd to now, recently paid off my car & decided to make change to policy. Again, so very customer-friendly, quick/easy - PAINLESS process. Thank You S/A for all your hard work!
