Mike was amazing and helped me recently with a problem with my APX8000. He spent a huge amount of time last year working on teaching me how to program my radio and did not charge me for my time.
He gave me a great price on a display mic for my radio and shipped within a few hours.

Mike has helped me with so many projects and I have learned quite a bit about radios, I got a beautiful apx 1000 vhf from him and it’s an amazing radio, Mike has never done me wrong, and always a pleasure to do business with

Here is my story.

I wanted to buy a Motorola APX radio, and some random guy from Facebook recommended Mike Litherland from Oregon. The new guy introduced himself as an employee of Salem Communications LLC, registration number 99-3278030 (this is the data from the PDF file of the invoice that Mike sent me). The company email is "commcommunicationssalem" on the free service "gmail.com".

We agreed on a price with Mike. Next, I wanted to check him as a supplier, but I could not find any traces of his company. The only thing on the Internet is his amateur radio license, W7BNS, which has expired, which is also suspicious. Then I decided to check on Mike by ordering a product from him that is no longer in production. And Mike quickly gave me a price for it, which made me even more wary. Then, when making an advance payment of APX8000, Mike asked me to pay through PayPal as "For friends or Family", which deprived me of the opportunity to return my payment in case of fraud. I asked Mike to sell just the accessory first (which is actually unavailable!), get it, and only then move on to the main deal, which is 10 times higher. Mike insisted on this, and this was the second red flag. After I asked Mike to check him as a supplier, Mike became aggressive, criticized my language (English is not my native language), and threatened to have a lawyer come to me for harassing him (this surprised me the most).

Other Motorola dealers I have known for 15-20 years do not know any "Salem Communications LLC" company and do not know any Mike. Mike also refused to give contacts of people who would recommend him. Mike also refused to give his nickname on the site (C.S board) where all the famous amateurs and professionals in the USA who use Motorola APX hang out. In other words, Mike does not exist in the world of Motorola radio communications.

I still did not pay Mike, since all his actions and information about him indicate an attempt at fraud. I can't say for sure, but a legal business will never:

1. Sell a product that is not supplied by the vendor and is no longer in production.
2. Refuse to provide evidence of one's legality
3. To freak out and make threats when they were asked simple, innocent questions.
4. Give up your website and internet address, as well as your work phone number.
5. Conduct your activities in such a way as to leave no trace of your existence. Even special agents leave traces behind!

In general, it all looks like a scam.

I recommend that you exercise extreme caution if you receive a invoice from Salem Communications LLC, 301 SW Lincoln, Portland, OR 97301, United States.
