It was a great and unique experience which definitely helped me improve my Spanish comprehension and articulation.

I had a great experience with Platica! It was very helpful practicing my spanish with a native speaker, especially in a pandemic where it is not as easy to practice because of online classes. My partner was very patient with me, helped me learn alot, and overall was really great!

I really enjoyed speaking with my partner. It was easy to set up, and there were no problems/hassles when Skyping. It was very beneficial to have frequent conversations in Spanish, as well as helpful to get feedback on what I need to improve on.

I LOVE Ale! Such a sweet and encouraging person to talk with and I definitely improved upon my conversational skills and confidence. She was very open and has a great memory, which made me feel more valued throughout the semester.

Ale was the best speaking partner! She was so personable and friendly, I would definitely recommend! Also didn’t make me feel bad or uncomfortable for not knowing a word or two.

Platica is a great tool that significantly helped me improve my Spanish speaking skills. I was able to have conversations with a native Spanish speaker, wherein the discussions we would talk about pre-selected topics, and after that, we would take about whatever came to our minds. Overall, I would recommend this to other people for the idea that one can go out of their comfort zone to hone their Spanish skills in a friendly environment.

Overall a great experience. I’ve never done anything like this before so it was new for me. It was fairly simple to set up and is easy to catch on to. At first I was confused as to when and how often I needed to do it. The constant emails to schedule your appointment though are helpful despite being somewhat annoying. In the long run though, everything moved pretty smoothly except for the occasional technical difficulty or me forgetting about the appointment accidentally. I would recommend to people if they are trying to improve their conversational Spanish speaking skills for sure.

We would discuss pre-selected topics and, if time allowed, talk about other subjects that came to mind. Platica is such an amazing program because it allows you to gain experience in speaking Spanish as if you were in a Spanish speaking country with the ease of the internet. After two years, I truly began to feel comfortable with my Platica partner, and I enjoyed all of our conversations. My favorite conversations happened when we veered slightly from our set conversation topics and I found myself speaking well and confidently about something I cared about. The program has helped me with my conversation skills and made me much more comfortable and confident speaking in Spanish. Next time I am actually in a Spanish speaking country or presented the opportunity to have a true conversation in Spanish, I will be grateful for all my Platica sessions.

I absolutely loved my conversations with Ceci and truly felt my Spanish skills increase over the course of our conversations. It was an incredible way to get real, practical experience in the language without feeling like I was being graded or critiqued on my performance. Ceci and I have even become friends and continued our communications beyond just our registered times which has allowed me to practice my Spanish even more. This program is truly exceptional and I hope more students are able to benefit from it in the future!

I have been doing Plática for the past three years through my school. I have found this experience to be both extremely fun and cohesive despite being in a learning environment. I love the way in which each conversation is set up: before your conversation you will receive a list of topics you may be speaking about and after your conversation you also receive an electronic copy of your corrections. This past year, I have been an AP Spanish student, and with the help of my "speaking partner" through Plática I have been able to practice my simulated conversations for the upcoming exam. I would recommend this program to any Spanish speaking student, no matter their level. I have had such a great time throughout this program and have even developed a friendship with my speaking partner.
