The SEP company on Berry Street, Bootle, Merseyside is short staff (As informed over the phone by their own staff) and you have to wait days. No one contacts you for renewal of policy and when you call them they say they will call back but even after days they don't get back to you and offer higher prices for renewals. The staff become unprofessional and irritated when you ask questions for clarification about the policy they offer.
Not very professional and helpful.
Checked online and got cheaper insurance quote for my private hire, first time with another company. Very disappointed with their service.

SEP are by far the easiest to deal insurance company I worked with. The stuff is spot on professionals, that are going above and beyond to have any issue sorted with effectiveness and in a timely manner. In my query today, Lewis was just great, the type of a professional that I would appreciate to find in all the services that are using human touch. Thank you SEP!

Don’t recommend . They are nice and kind till you ask something or need something. Over 6 months I was calling to get a answer and to give me what they promised on the phone (they said it would take a few days to check the recording but I am still waiting since 07/2025) I give up and I will never get the calls from them again

I’ve had a fantastic experience with SEP Insurance, specifically with Becky Draper. Setting up my first private hire policy felt like a daunting task, but Becky was incredibly patient and proactive. She went the extra mile to double-check complex policy endorsements with the underwriters for me, ensuring I was 100% compliant before my first shift. Professional, clear, and genuinely helpful. Highly recommend!

Was in dire need of insurance before midnight, Lewis and Tom got it all sorted out for me at 7pm ensuring I had PH insurance before my policy ran out at midnight

They offered me a cheap private hire policy, but in the end it was with a black box. They asked me to cancel it because I couldn't work with a black box being a taxi driver. I told them to change me to something better. In the end, they only found me super expensive policies. I claimed the deposit because I hadn't started the insurance yet. They still kept 250 pounds and didn't want to give me the money back. They are scammers and liars.

Chelsea contacted me in good time before my renewal was due, organised things mega quick and managed to save me money on my premium and also organise a refund from the year before due to an outstanding claim. Can’t fault her effort and professionalism

This company has caused me financial and mental stress. After purchasing a private hire policy, they rejected my corrected documents and forced me into a more expensive policy — using the same documents! Then they charged me huge cancellation fees, didn’t refund my second payment, and made additional deductions without proper explanation.

They also falsely accused me of non-disclosure and demanded more money. When I cancelled during the cooling-off period, they still didn’t return my money and added a £750 bill.

It feels like they’re just looking for ways to take your money. I do not recommend them to anyone. Be very cautious.

I have to say that on this years cycle of insurance, I could not be happier or more satisfied with my experience with SEP Insurance. At the end of my 2023/24 insurance period, I had a no fault accident. My previous insurers were confusing to say the least and after my payout, they told me the accident had gone from a non fault claim to an uninsured driver claim. Therefore, the previous insurer (not SEP) decided to withhold my no claims bonus. This of course put my premium up in monetary terms. I got insured with SEP for this year's insurance 2024/25 and had to pay over the odds, because of the situation with ny previous insurer. My renewal was due abd despite the cost reducing from last year, it still relatively expensive. I delved into the no claims issue and found out that I had been duped out of my no claims bonus by my previous insurers. After complaining to the previous insurers, I was awarded the withheld no claims bonus. I immediately informed SEP of this and a wonderful woman named Chelsea, a member of the SEP team looked into the matter for me. Today, Chelsea contacted me with some amazing news. Chelsea, armed with this new information, managed to give a substantially better quote. But it didn't end there.....Chelsea also managed to get me an amazingly substantial refund off my CURRANT insurance, based on the new information at hand. Needless to say, but I have happily taken out my 2025/26 premium with SEP Insurance, without hesitation. I really couldn't be more thankful to SEP, but predominantly Chelsea...Thankyou so much!
I am a taxi driver, therefore a cynic and a sceptic when it comes down to dealing with insurance companies, generally. However, what SEP have done for me has restored my faith. Thanks again SEP (Chelsea).

Poor experience this year. Been with SEP since Nov 2020. My premium went up about 15%. Was told previous year protected NCD wasn't included. Breakdown cover was very basic where I was under the impression I had national cover as earlier years. The invitation to renew is always last minute leaving very little time to get other quotes. This year I will be prepared and shop around early.

Scammers be careful with this company,don not buy any type of policy.
