❌ Why I Regret Buying the Shapeboo Bodysuit: A Nightmare Product and Customer Service Experience
I recently ordered a bodysuit from Shapeboo, and to say I am incredibly disappointed would be a massive understatement. From the moment the transaction went through to the absolute headache of dealing with their support team, this has been hands-down one of the worst online shopping experiences I have ever had.
If you are thinking about purchasing from this brand, please save your money and read my honest breakdown first.
## 🧵 The Product: Misleading Marketing & Damaged Goods
Shapeboo heavily markets this item as high-quality "shapewear" designed to give you a flawless look under clothing, but the reality is a complete letdown.
* **Zero Support:** The product description explicitly promises abdominal smoothing and compression for the cups. In reality, the material has virtually no structural integrity. It just sits loosely on the body without providing any of the promised lifting, contouring, or support.
* **Abysmal Packaging:** For a brand that charges premium prices and expects customers to "lay the shapewear flat or roll it in a drawer" for proper care, their own transit standard is cheap and lazy. The bodysuit was jammed into a flimsy plastic shipping bag.
* **Ruined Foam Cups:** Because of the poor packaging, the foam cups arrived severely bent and badly crinkled right out of the bag. Because the structure of the cups is warped, it is impossible to wear this under a dress without the visible lines and wrinkles completely ruining the silhouette.
## 🛑 The Automated Shipping Trap
The order itself was actually placed by accident. Realizing the error immediately, **I contacted customer service to cancel the order just two minutes after it was placed**.
Instead of halting the order, Shapeboo shipped it anyway. When confronted, support claimed that their system is fully automated to fulfill orders as quickly as possible, meaning it was locked by the warehouse instantly and "could not be stopped". It is incredibly frustrating that a company’s automated system takes precedence over a customer's immediate plea to fix a mistake.
## 😠 The Customer Service & Return Policy Nightmare
When the unwanted package arrived, the fight for a standard refund truly began. Dealing with Shapeboo’s support team has felt less like customer care and more like a series of manipulative traps designed to keep your money.
### 1. Guilt-Tripping and Hidden Fees
First, they tried to convince me to keep the unwearable item under the guise of "helping the environment" by offering a 20% gift card to shop with them again. When I refused and pushed for a return, they hit me with their hidden terms: they insisted they would deduct a **10% handling fee**, make me pay out-of-pocket for return tracking, and issue the remaining balance only as **Store Credit**.
### 2. Shifting Policy Excuses
When I demanded a full refund to my original payment method, their support team suddenly changed their tune and tried to claim that because the bodysuit "functions like a thong," it was **completely ineligible for a return** under a strict health and hygiene policy. They claimed they were doing me a "special favor" by offering store credit.
The problem? Their website's "Delivery & Returns" section broadly states they gladly accept returns or exchanges within 14 days of delivery, without explicitly warning customers about these hidden hygiene restrictions at the time of purchase.
### 3. Disrespecting Consumer Rights
Despite making an error by ignoring a 2-minute cancellation notice and delivering a faulty, misdescribed item—which according to their own rules means they should cover return costs—they flat-out refuse to issue a prepaid label or return my money to my bank account.
Under UK consumer law and the standard right of withdrawal, customers are entitled to a full refund to their original payment method for items returned within 14 days. Shapeboo seems to think its internal policies override basic consumer rights.
## 📝 Final Verdict
**Rating: 0/5 Stars** ⭐️
The product is poor quality, the packaging is cheap, and the customer service operates on rigid, automated scripts that work against the consumer. I have had to escalate this issue to my bank to initiate a formal chargeback just to get my money back.
**Do not buy from Shapeboo.** There are plenty of reputable shapewear brands out there that actually provide functional support, package their products safely, and won't hold your money hostage if something goes wrong.

Refusing return/refund unless I send them a video of me wearing the underwear!

By far the worst company I have ever dealt with, £75 for an item that I have found on shein for £10, horrible shapewear that gives a really lumpy figure, totally not as pictured or described therefore under UK law I am legally entitled to a free return and refund to my original payment method, company are refusing to comply with this and only offering a return that I would have to pay for postage to china plus import fee's to only get a refund in store credit, needless to say I do not want to make another purchase from them, in order for them to 'consider' complying with UK law they are demanding I send them a video of me wearing the underwear and moving my body so they can 'see how it fits', complete violation of privacy laws, I have already sent them pictures as evidence of the issue, seriously avoid this company it's basically a scam
