Shortform is a fabulous resource for learning and the support staff are great to work with.

Very comprehensive summaries plus extra insights from other books help to get a good overview of each topic.

Bad experience with credit card charging issues

This company is a scam. They heavily promote "cancel anytime," yet when my subscription renewed I found the platform unhelpful and requested a cancellation — and that's when the nightmare began.
I have been dealing with my credit card company for over 7 months trying to resolve this. Their business practices are deliberately convoluted and make it extremely difficult for users to cancel or get refunded. To make matters worse, they deleted my profile but still kept the $197 annual subscription fee.
This is not just poor customer service — this is fraud.

The concept of shortform is great. It’s a very handy resource.
At first it took me some time to learn to navigate around and I’m still learning.
The option to have audio is also very good however the female voice is not great. She is too fast and seems to lack any sense of what she is reading.

The customer service team was responsive and diligent in resolving my issues.

The audio controls are lacking, behind most audio services like Spotify or Apple Podcasts that make it tough to control via Bluetooth. The selection of books leaves much desired from me. Seems to focus on self-help type books, would like more history and biography.

Shortform used to be amazing. Now the quality has come down a bit. The analysis, other reference books highlighted, different opinions are not what used to be before.

Had a problem with my subscription, and they were very helpful in fixing it.

Large selection of books and resources, and high-quality summaries. I enjoy the read-aloud feature.

Now, they even offer an extension to get summaries from websites and videos!

Every time I have contacted Shortform for information or advice, I have received an excellent response that clarifies what I needed to know and encourages me to keep using their service.

I subscribed to Shortform primarily for the audio feature to use while driving. Unfortunately, the audio experience was not reliable for me, frequent buffering and robotic voice delivery made long listening impractical.

Support acknowledged that audio issues can affect usability, but a pro-rated refund was declined due to policy.

The process required multiple follow-ups with their customer support team over several days before receiving a final response, which was disappointing.

The platform may work well for readers who primarily use text summaries, but if audio is your main use case, test it thoroughly during the trial period.

How promp they were in answering the questions I had. They insisted on helping me out when I asked. Thank you so much for your understanding. I will definitely sign up in the future when my suitation changes.

Easy to read, well organized, additional inputs with other authors is great, saves a lot of time.

My suggestions are;
Have a dictionary like in Kindle
Need to expand your inventory of books regarding business and leadership

The big selection of books and the exercises are pretty useful.

Shortform -book summary app does 3 things really well. 1) Gives you a high-quality summary of a nonfiction book - Instead of reading the whole book, it gives you the main ideas, usually broken into - key points, core takeaways and short explanations of the concepts
2) Adds “extras” beyond the book - This is what makes it different from a lot of summary apps. Shortform often includes - context (why the idea matters), counterpoints / limitations, examples, extra explanations to make the ideas clearer
So it’s not just “here’s the book” — it’s more like a study guide for the book.
3) Helps you actually learn / retain the ideas
It also includes things like chapter-by-chapter structure, exercise questions, flashcards and “read this next” recommendations.
I highly recommend it.
