Shurgard Self Storage - Bow Reviews 

The units are very expensive and the parking is awful. The staff are nice but they keep increasing the prices so we have to find alternative storage. Also my partner and I broke up so are in the process of splitting our belongings, and he is using a smaller unit in the process to keep his stuff there and remove mine then we got grilled twice on why we were downsizing the unit. Also got lectured on breaking up by a member of staff who said we should stay for the children.

After 6 months of using the storage unit they raised the price from 400 to 500 per month with no explanation. While the price advertised is still lower. I contacted the storage facility just to be informed that I can move to another unit inside the same storage facility if I want lower price. They didn’t mean move to a smaller unit, just move, just inconvenience yourself enough to keep the lower price. If you don’t move we will hike up the price. I have informed how long I was planning to use storage facilities since I signed the contract and of course no-one mentioned that oh btw we will raise the price to whatever we want in 6 months and if you don’t like that just come over in 6 months and get all your stuff out and get it back in. So obviously this is absolutely disgraceful practice and misleading the customers.

I moved my storage to Shurgard in April as they offered
a reasonable price. However, in October, exactly after 6 months they raised the price by 24%. I think it is fair to adjust the price in line with inflation but this increase is significantly above the inflation rate. The contract allows them to "periodically review the charges" so after you have been there for 6 month they can change the price at any time and by any amount. This company might make sense for a short term storage but for a small business and long term customer like myself it is not acceptable as you can't anticipate what your storage costs will be.

Easy access right when you start the subscription to your unit, every staff I’ve met has been very friendly and informative. Easy payments. Clean, hassle-free.

Signed up today. Paid for everything. Checked access codes at Gate etc. all good? No.

Drive 2.5hrs with a van load of furniture and no access.

Arrived at 2123. Paid for access until 2300.

After hours number is NOT Shurgard. It’s an imaging service that will NOT page anyone unless you’re stuck inside the facility.

Now I have to find somewhere safe to park a van full of furniture in east London and sleep the bank until someone bothers to show up in the morning

Very very very poor service.

Unfortunately we were running late due to our moving driver and traffic. We called ahead to let the Bow office know which we were told it was fine they would be there. The employee on our arrival was incredibly rude. We apologised profusely but were subjected to several eye rolls, snappy remarks and chronic over the top sighing. We were told we wouldn't be allowed to do it on that day as we were late and we would need to rebook. Also that my husband couldn't move are things in as I the account holder was not present even though I had emailed and called days before to make sure it was okay. Very unpleasant and extra stress on quite a stressful day. Thankfully the other employee allowed us to move our things in to our unit. To note the other employee on shift was very polite and kind.

The storage unit was great and the process was pretty easy but the employee made the experience pretty negative.

Very easy to sign up, a ton of options to store your stuff, secure way of accessing the premises!

I tried rent the unit, they took the money i send them my ID I never receive the access code. i already paid for transport and now I have a really problem. really misleading advert on their website.

I liked the locked price for the first 5 months of contract. What I did not like is that you give the option to choose and bring own padlock but then when I arrived at the storage I was forced to buy a padlock I will never get to use again and for additional £15. Also the lock itself if my unit looked fairly easy to break into if honest as I could see the shaft that locks the door and didn’t look that solid. I think you need to make that more clear at the time of the booking. I also was held inside of the parking space at Bow in London where my unit is because someone parked their huge van right in front of my which was a Zipvan rented by the hour and when I went to tell a member of your staff that someone did that they said you have to wait until they come downstairs and I think that was not on as we rent a vehicle by the hours they should check how many vehicles are coming in and tell them not to block anyone that might need to leave. Apart from these two things I am happy with your service so far.
