Hassle free claims and low prices
I used Simply Excess quite a few times because of their competitive pricing and comprehensive insurance policy. I never left a review until when I recently had to claim due to damage to my hire car after hitting a big pothole. My previous experience with insurers is that they always find a reason not to pay. This was not the case with Simply Excess. The claim process was very straightforward: I just had to submit a copy of the invoice from the hire company and a photo of the damaged car. The day after I submitted the claim I got an email saying that it had been approved and received the money in my bank account 2 days later - no questions asked!
I will definitely be using Simply Excess for my next trips and would recommend them to anyone

Given all the positive reviews on here I'm sorry to say I had a very different experience. Yes it was very much cheaper than buying cover from the car hire companies but that is where the good news ends. Budget Ireland (run a mile from them too) found a stone chip in the windscreen of the Nissan and kept an incredible 1200 Euros from my deposit. I made a claim. Firstly SimplyExcess didn't see my email for six days and only found it when I telephoned. They wanted to see an actual credit card statement to prove I'd paid the 1200 Euros even though I had a receipt for that from Budget. I had to wait several weeks until this was available from my bank. Meanwhile we had a jolly email back and forth as SimplyExcess somehow wanted ME to get copies of repair or replacement estimates from Budget but Budget refused to send me anything other than the receipt. Eventually SimplyExcess accepted that and once I was able to send them my credit card statement they did pay up within a few days. But I won't be renewing my cover with them.

Great experience after needing to claim
I had to make a claim on our car hire excess cover after being charged £900 by Dollar Car Rental at Belfast International Airport for a chip in the windscreen. I submitted all the paperwork to Simply Excess via their online form 2 days after the incident and received the full amount requested less than 10 days later. I had to call to ask a couple of questions before submitting the paperwork and the person I spoke to was helpful and sent me the information required via email whilst I was on the phone. We will be using this company again - cannot rate highly enough. And much better to buy this insurance than give extortionate amounts of money to the car hire companies.

Arranging and buying the policy was quick and simple. The policy was clear and easy to understand. Simply Excess also sent some useful advice shortly before the vehicle return was due on what to do when returning the car.
I cannot comment on their customer service for any claim as I fortunately did not have to make a claim.
