I desperately needed ear wax removed and appointment availability at my GP practice was unacceptable to me.

I carried out a ‘Google’ search for private ear wax removal and after reading the synopsis of the various people providing this type of service it was Southwest Audiology Services that I was drawn to.

Sam Humphries qualifications and NHS experience in Audiology impressed me and I felt that I would be in good hands having any treatment. Sam also, offers other clinical services which include: Hearing Assessments; Hearing Aids; Tinnitus Management compared to her local competitor.

Sam made me feel at ease during our appointment and she is genuinely a caring, kind & thoughtful person. Sam made sure that she explained what she was going to do before any treatment was carried out. All treatments were carried out within the current COVID guidelines in place at the time of my appointment, and I made sure that I took a Lateral Flow Test (which was negative) before I attended the appointment and made her aware of my result.

I am pleased to have discovered Southwest Audiology Services (Sam) and will continue to use her services for ongoing Audiology Health checks.

Sam was excellent with my daughter, she showed her illustrations of the ear and made clear explanations about the processes involved with our consultation. She was very reassuring and my daughter was calm and reassured throughout our time with Sam.

Sam Humphries at Southwest Audiology Services provided me with an exceptionally professional range of hearing tests necessary due to my ongoing ear and long term problems which had not yet resolved. I was impressed with Sam’s professionalism, medical knowledge and clear advice which has without doubt encouraged me to seek further assessment from an ENT specialist through her referral letter. In the meantime, impressions for specialised ear swimming plugs were made at Sam’s clinical practice and these will undoubtedly be helpful in preventing my otitis externa (swimmer’s ear) problem which has plagued me for many years !

This was my first proper ear examination and hearing test.
The environment was very clean and tidy and had an air of calmness, which was reassuring because I didn't know what to expect.
Sam introduced herself, firstly taking a comprehensive history of my problem before examining my ears , explaining what she was seeing, this was followed by the most thorough hearing test...amazing...
At the end she went over everything again, showing the graphs of the tests done, followed by advice of what to do next.
I found her very knowledgeable, not baffling me with medical terminology.

Sam was really quick to respond to my initial enquiry, and I had an appointment within a few days. Her cheerful and friendly nature immediately put me at ease and she very clearly explained the micro suction procedure and hearing assessment process and made time to go through my results. She listened and was empathetic when I explained my hearing concerns and conducted herself in a very professional and caring manner. I would definitely recommend Sue and I will be making an annual appointment to see her!

Sam took me through the transition to wearing hearing aids in the most sensitive, understanding and professional manner I could have hoped for. She was extremely thorough in her investigation and testing of my hearing problems and made the whole process an enjoyable one with her personable, relaxed but extremely competent manner.
If you are worried about hearing loss and even more so by the prospect of having to seek help and transition to wearing aids, I can’t recommend Sam’s professional, knowledgeable, caring and understanding practice enough!

I visited SW Audiology for a hearing test, to have wax removed and to get some molds made for some ear plugs that I need. The service was excellent! Sam is very personable and professional. I felt like I was in good hands and will definitely go back should the need arise.
