I would highly recommend Harriet from the Spanish Academy. She is very friendly, patient and doesn’t mind repeating stuff until you understand. I have hourly lessons with her which go by very quickly. Looking forward to my Spanish holidays to put my Spanish into practice.

I have just completed the beginners course in Spanish.
My partner and I decided we would take up Spanish together after a holiday to Spain. We wanted to be able to understand the language more when visiting as we felt clueless sometimes in supermarkets and ordering taxis.

Harriet is a very good teacher! She makes the classes enjoyable and doesn’t overwhelm you with information. The hour long lesson on zoom would fly past each week and we came away feeling like we have gained more knowledge. Harriet never put you on the spot and if you didn’t quite get it right she would guide you in the right direction.

We had considered learning via apps available but so happy we did the course because the interaction during the lesson was fun and definitely a better way to learn over listening to a tape or app.

We feel confident in understanding; asking for items in a supermarket, ordering food in a restaurant and basic conversations in Spanish.

We are looking to continue into the new year with the next stages in becoming fluent in Spanish!

I’ve always wanted to learn another language but have never thought myself clever enough. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher than Harriet and the Spanish Academy. The learning is tailored to your confidence and ability which makes every lesson enjoyable and engaging. The lessons fit well into my busy schedule as i can choose the most appropriate time for me, which makes things a lot easier. I continue to amaze myself from the progress i make! I’m now able to hold a basic conversation in Spanish which i never dreamed i could do! Honestly, best decision i’ve ever made.

Emma is an excellent teacher. From the start she was the perfect balance of professional and friendly, instantly putting me at ease. Her presentation of the lessons was interactive, informative and fun. The literature was clear, well presented and easy to understand. The addition of follow up emails and relevant tasks were really helpful.
I really enjoyed the 5 week course. Couldn't ask for more - Learning how to shop, order in a restaurant and other important basic Italian phrases whilst laughing alongside an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher. Can't recommend Emma enough 😁

Harriett has been tutoring my son for a number of years, and is now working with him on the GCSE syllabus. Harriett is an excellent Spanish tutor, very patient, and constantly monitors my sons understanding of the areas covered.
Since becoming a teenager my son can be hard to push forward, and will always opt for the easy way out. Fortunately, Harriett always feeds back to me, good or bad, as to the standard of work produced during a lesson, and of that set for homework. Communication between us is key to ensure the correct standard is being achieved.
Harriett is very organised, always on time, and I would highly recommend both her and The Spanish Academy.

We have enjoyed the sessions and found her style and interpersonal skills engaging and easy to learn from. Both my husband and I have been having Spanish lessons with Hattie for some time now , we both started at the same level but my husband has learned at a much quicker pace than me . I think this really does highlight how Hattie adjusts and plans the lessons around each person . Hattie is an excellent tutor who tailors each lesson to the individual , will ask questions , check learning and adjust or adapt accordingly . She is currently tutoring my child who is in Y10 and I can see she really thoroughly knows the exam boards syllabus and so knows what is required to achieve the top GCSE grade 9.

She is very kind and patient, and her lessons are well thought out and at the right speed and ability for my child. She is always happy to answer any questions I may have as a parent. She has analysed my child’s strengths and weaknesses and has even explained the best way to structure notes for the end of year exams.

I have been learning to speak Spanish with The Spanish Academy for almost two years. My tutor, Harriet is lovely, very patient and is always happy to give the time to answer and discuss my questions. Harriet is always patient and adjusts the pace so that I am always able to feel like I’m moving forward yet also given the opportunity to embed my learning. I never thought I would be able to understand and translate text as I am. I feel very excited to try my new language skills next time I visit Spain.
