Stratstone Mercedes Ayr

Wish I had searched these FRAUDULENT SCAMMERS on Google before using them, car had starting problem, they said what the problem was, charged £1594 and gave there word it was fixed, 2 weeks after collecting it, same problem reoccurred 200 miles from home, found there reviews on Google ( absolute disgrace how they treat customers ) gave them a wide berth and booked car into a dealership with good reviews, called them up for a refund and was rudely told by Steven in Service No, so got Trading Standards, my banks card disputes team and Mercedes Customer Disputes on the case

Just Don't

Bought my Vogue from here going from a supercharged petrol sport didn't do my research on vogue or vogue se properly salesman said there was only 10hbp difference, turns out ofcourse the SE stands for SPECIAL EQUIPTMENT of which is lacking in a vogue compares to the SE. Anyway car was listed as having features it didn't on delivery and scratches, kept it, shouldn;t have, squeeqy brakes, never resolved. Make sure you do your homework and don't rely on any sales speil. They overprice cars too in my opinion as on the approved LR site you get way better spec and age for money... hate writing bad reviews but maybe they have/can change/sort it out.

Stratstones Derby

My first experience was to try out a 3 series BMW. Spent nearly an hour filling in forms with a sales person. Didn't even sit in a car. Lost the will to live! Eventually bought a nice 330 from Coopers of York (great BMW dealer). I then wanted a nearly new X1, so first port of call was Derby. I had never driven an X1 before so test drove a top spec one with only a few miles on the clock. Engine was choppy, something not right, but Salesman was rude & having none of it. Bought a similar one from Hexagon of London (great BMW dealer) instead. After a year or two warranty work needed doing with loss of power on the engine. At least twice it went into Stratstones, at least twice it re-occurred. Took it to Synter of Nott'm (great BMW Dealer), & it was diagnosed correctly & rectified. No further problems. Stratstone's didn't even acknowledge the negative feedback I left which they asked for me to complete. So why ask?
Well Stratstones, Ignore me at your peril! Thats £70k+ from a Derbyshire resident that didn't stay in Derbyshire!

Stratstone Cheltenham

1. Difficulty in confirming a booking for a free MOT test which was part of the warranty bought for £750. Tried to call the Cheltenham dealer but was put through to central booking. No return email/text as promised received so had to call a few times to confirm.
2. Was advised the our Range Rover had failed the MOT due to "Front wiper blades needed replacing for vehicle to pass the MOT as these are safety related item". If I did not have the wiper blades replaced there and then I would have to wait 2 weeks for a retest and have to pay for the MOT. Service manager advised the technician checks for splits then makes a subjective judgement on the wipers.
3. Was advised the cost of the wipers was £60.00 but when I showed the booklet supplied with the Stratstone issued warranty was told that it did not cover the wiper blades. Eventually they agreed that I could claim against the warranty but had to pay the excess £50.00. Granted not a big difference in price but it was the lack of knowledge of their own warranty which was frustrating.
4. Cost of after market wiper blades on the internet £14.00 for a pair including VAT. When I asked the make of the blades supplied the answer was they come in a plastic bag from Landrover. There are no distinguishing identification on the blades they fitted.
5. They carried out a vehicle health check and documented that the brake pads were 11 (of 12) on the front and 6 (of10) on the rear. The pads had been changed by another garage 7 days prior to the MOT and they had documented that the rears were 7. We had done under 50 miles since the new pads were fitted on the front so were surprised at the 1mm reported wear. Service manager advised that break pads measurements were done by eye.

Stratstones

I visited Stratstones in Swansea in early August 2016. The showroom doors were locked although the receptionist (Emily) pointed me towards the other side of the building where I was able to use the Jaguar entrance.
The Land Rover salesman had not turned up for work and he had the keys to the door!
I only wanted a brochure for the Evoque as I resent having to print my own (90 or so pages at my expense!!). I was told by Emily that there were none in stock but I did get the impression that I was being fobbed off. She took my name, email and 'phone number. As I was leaving the salesman rolled up; I was not able to stay and converse with him as I had an appointment but needless to say I did not receive an email or 'phone call. So after 3 weeks I complained to Land Rover HQ.
It is now 5th Sept and still no brochure / communication so I want to thank all the other reviewers of Stratstone because, together with my own experience, it is clear that neither Stratstone nor Land Rover have their customers interests at heart. Pity! Such a nice car.
I'm going back to Audi!!

The worst car dealer in the uk

I purchased a second hand freelander under warranty from Cardiff Stratstone. First impressions are of a high class dealer. The clutch went on my vehicle after only 2 months, engine management light on after only 3 days. After 6 months of them trying to fix a clutch (pretty basic garage fix, all cars have them!!!) , saying it was done only to have it go again, and 7 courtesy cars due to the constant breakdowns i can honestly say it was the worst car ownership experience I have ever had . My brother has had 2 new defenders off Swansea Stratstone and is having a nightmare with them over a basic steering fault which they cannot fix. ( bare in mind this car has been in production over 50 years) There after service is appalling and there ability to repair awful! so no matter how much you like the brand (I did) the dealer service has to be the worst in the UK.

Stratstone Aylesbury - Do not give them your business

I purchased a 2015 used Range Rover Autobiography from Stratstone Aylesbury for £90K on 28th July. A subsequent inspection at an independent body shop (Sandown Coachworks) manager noticed a difference in the offside rear door paint colour , further investigation revealed extensive repairs on the offside of the vehicle, a fact confirmed by the Aylesbury body shop manager. In Sandown Coachworks opinion the two offside doors had either been replaced or re-skinned indicating that the car had been in an accident. This fact was not disclosed to me by Stratstone, they claimed ignorance despite the 165 Multi-Point Inspection that was supposed to have been conducted on the vehicle which should have identified the paint defects. This was signed off by the Aylesbury dealership so either it was signed of knowing that the faults existed (fraud) or the checks were never carried out (breach of contract). There are a host of other issue on the vehicle that should have been identified through the 165 point check. I took the vehicle back to Stratstone, complete with a full written narrative of the issue. The Dealer Principle (Frank Kinner) has since sent me a email saying that it's just cosmetic and down to 'fair wear and tear'. He has offered to refund just the purchase price despite the fact that I've spent a further £9K on additional parts and a Cat5+ tracker (which can't be recovered) for the vehicle and Stratstone has already sold my part exchanged vehicle for which I took a hit on. Additionally, when I did my own HPI check to see if there was any reported crash damage the report returned the fact that there was outstanding finance on the vehicle, Stratstone was supposed to, but failed to, provide an 'Independent History Document' that includes a check that there is no outstanding finance on the vehicle. I have raised this with Which Legal, and the CAB who have subsequently reported Stratstone to Bucks Trading Standards. So please keep your wits about you when dealing with Stratstone Aylesbury.

Worst approved dealer ever!

No customer service what's so ever, do not answer your emails or phone calls, if you ring on a weekend the reception don't answer the phone, and when they do! you get passed from pillar to post and have to explain your self every time you are passed on. Received a letter from Land Rover explaining they was a fault on my model and had to be recalled as engine could cut out and cause a serious accident, rang Stratstone Stockton told me I would have to wait 6 weeks because I needed a courtesy car. The Range Rover sport was a couple of years old when we purchased it after a year thought of upgrading valued it 15 thousand pounds less then we paid, we traded in our BMW sport for the Range Rover which we had 3years from new and only lost 9 grand. I was total shocked at there valuation. Another reason not to buy from Stratstones... Be warned!!!!

Just don't bother, go to Sytner or Cooper instead

We have two bmw group cars, the first a jcw mini coupe, and the second a 320d. We bought the mini from Sytner Sheffield and the service thier was fantastic, however it is quite a journey so we decided to try our local dealership.. What a mistake, first they do a service on the mini, close the bonnet on the open scuttle panel with the brake fluid cap off which I discover 4 weeks later on my monthly fluids check, apparently they have changed the brake fluid on one of three visits to get this rectified, brakes are now spongy and I will have to fork out for it doing by competent people.
Secondly the 320d, it is quite an old vehicle but has a recall out on the airbag, I figure I will give them another go and book it in three weeks ago in order to get a loan car, told them I need to collect loan car night before due to work commitments and was told this would be fine but to call before driving in to make sure loan car was in, however there would definately be a car available night before, and guess what, no loan car available! book in for three weeks time and we will make sure we have one, I HAVE ALREADY WAITED THREE WEEKS FOR THIS ONE! So needless to say booking cancelled and that will be the last time I use stratstone group (which if you aren't aware is part of Evans halshaw group) also avoid like the plague! Absolute Cowboys the lot of them.

Stratstone BMW Leeds - taking the 'customer' out of customer service

Final Update

After lengthy conversations I ended up out of pocket and with a 10 month old BMW with four corroded alloys which were not picked up in the vehicle inspection .... why I've no idea as the car was sold as 'immaculate' ....

the moral of the story .... stick to smaller independents who value customers not expansion. bets of luck !

Re BMW Leeds Dealership: Very disappointed in the customer service received. My wife and i had booked a test drive of a 320d bmw msport xdrive on Sunday 15 November at 3pm. Turned up at 245pm ... introduced to sales exec by receptionist as he was with another customer. Waited until 350pm and no one came to speak to us. The receptionist was very helpful and tried to assist where she could and even spoken to the general manager. Still no one saw to us nor was there any follow up contact via phone / e mail etc to explain.

We walked out at 350pm feeling very disappointed and that our money clearly was not good enough. have since purchased the car for £23,305 from Harrogate. Overall extremely disappointed with the service received..

Was told I'd hear back on Monday re my complaint ... (30 November) after speaking to the manager on Friday 27 November .... Now close of play Thursday 3 November. Nothing back despite me leaving messages asking for an update..... Just gets worse and worse!!!!!

Now been updated .(following further twitter posts)... the offending member of staff has been 'spoken to'.... ???

FURTHER UPDATE

I sent the following correspondence:

I had addressed a complaint to Leeds Stratstone BMW re having had an appointment for a test drive, being ignored for an hour and eventually walking out an hour later - with no follow up call to explain. This complaint has been poorly handled by Leeds. I myself had to call for a follow up on Thursday 26 November. I was told that I'd receive a call on Monday 30 November to inform me of progress. Didn't hear anything. i then called myself on Wednesday 2 December to be told I'd receive a call back as the manager dealing with my complaint had left for the day. Again nothing happened.
This morning (Friday 4 December) I received two voicemails (after posting on social media). On calling back it was never explained to me as to what had happened during my visit rather the relevant person had been spoken to. No clarity as to what had happened etc.
I'm extremely disappointed with the entire experience .... the visit, the follow up, the way the complaint has been dealt with. Even though we've now purchased the car from Harrogate I've lost out on £750 and been left to feel that my money clearly was not good enough for Leeds (for reasons that are unclear).

The Pointless Response received:

Dear Khagan Mirza, (spelt my name incorrectly)

Thank you for your email. All concerns are dealt with at a dealership level and they do have the final decision. We understand that the outcome has been given to you and unfortunately this is the final decision.

What outcome??? what decision??? So why advertise an info@ e mail address when everything is dealt with locally??

Stratstone Aylesbury- the nightmare continues

I purchased a 2009 Range Rover sport from Stratstones in Aylesbury in Feb 2015. It was actually a replacement vehicle I purchased as the original had complete console electric failure on final test drive.
Having been informed by themselves the thorough checks all used cars go through prior to delivery I first experienced a dead battery on day two causing me to be stranded 100miles from home and a 3hr wait for recovery.
I then experienced a failed altenator week 2 and then experienced 5 engine warning lights and loss of stability.
In total 3 visits to workshop each lasting over a week the warning lights, loss of car functions returned. I engaged the personnel higher up the food chain after each promise to resolve was unfulfilled eventually liaising directly with Peter ward the dealer principle. After 4 failed attemps to resolve the engine warning lights and function loss. We started to discuss refund at which point assurances were made. Eventually the problem did appear to be resolved and I enjoyed several weeks of trouble free motoring for the first time since purchase. Until.... the fuel pump disintegrated causing catastrophic engine failure, both turbos and intercoollers. Que recovery services once more. After trying to blame me for the fuel pump disintegration. The engine and turbos were eventually replaced by the warranty company and repairs by Stratstone Aylesbury. After 6 weeks in work shop they were redoing the QA and would need a further week. During a road test the car was crashed into a wall causing damage to the front wing requiring a further week in the body shop. Finally received the car back some 9 weeks later. This is now some 12 weeks that Stratstone have had my car in total. First journey with new engine resulted in serious smoke from bonnet and exhaust and loss of power. Yet another recovery on the m4 this time. Allowing Stratstone Aylesbury to fix the car once more and to reconnect the parking sensors they detaching repairing the front wing they damaged. Patience truly exhausted I contacted Peter ward to insist enough is enough and that a refund was well over due. my car and the constant tribulations has been a constant source of amusement at the office, but the practicalities are that I have zero trust in the car and Stratstone aylesburys ability to fix anything and certainly will not trust the car on long journeys with my young family. To my surprise as contact from the hierarchy at Stratstone has not been easy to come by I received an email from Peter ward to state that when he got back from leave he would look at a mutual beneficial solution to the nightmare purchase. I fail to see why after the problems I have had that the situation needed to be 'mutually' resolved, sales of goods act dictates the goods must be fit for purpose. A car that is constantly in the garage or broken down roadside is not my idea of fit for purpose. Guess what despite the email Peter ward did NOT contact me as promised and the situation was NOT resolved mutually or ortherwise.
Morale of the saga if you are thinking of spending 50k plus on a Land Rover from Stratstone Aylesbury be warned!

Buy an Aston Martin, but not from Stratstone...

If you have finally reached that point in your life where you can afford or find ways to afford an Aston Martin then here is why I would not recommend Stratstone in Western Avenue, London as your first choice. I will say they are priced quite well but I am afraid the plus points stop there. You may expect the experience of buying such a luxury brand from a main dealer to be akin to flying first class for the first time. Maybe if you are buying a brand new one it is, but if like me your funds are limited to a mere £50k (ish) then buying an "assured used Aston Martin" from Stratstone is a lot more like flying to Magaluf with Ryan Air. Nearly 8 weeks on I am still awaiting the parts the car was supposed to come with despite having to chase every week. Of the items I asked them to look at on the car before I picked it up only about half were completed. The salesman's office was full of boxes and looked like Arthur Daily's lock-up. Items that were supposed to be in the car had been removed ( fortunately I spotted this before we left ) and the salesman gave us no instruction when we picked the car up and kept one of the keys. This wouldn't have been so bad but we were told the car wasn't ready for collection ( despite arranging the specific time the day before ) when we were half way to collect it. When we did arrive we were made to wait for 30 mins despite this being a Wednesday morning and no other customers being in the dealership. Also no details of the warranty were provided ( and it took several calls directly from Aston Martin to get these sent through ).

Shortly after I bought the car I was called by Stratstone to ask about the service I had received. I said I was in a meeting but very much wanted to talk to them. They agreed to phone me back a couple of days later. Since then ( now over a month ago ) I have heard nothing.

They did send me an on-line satisfaction survey to complete, which I did explaining my concerns and asking someone to contact me. I have had no response to that either.

The car itself is great BUT, and apart from the lack-lustre bordering on rude service this is my biggest concern, the car was advertised as a 2009 but the log book shows it being manufactured nearly a year earlier !!!! I have no issue with the age of the car other than this would make the car worth several thousand pounds less if I sell it. To be clear Stratstone did not intentionally mislead me on this, the ad said it was " registered" in 2009, and that is correct. However, it was manufactured nearly a year earlier ( 11months ) and that makes a big difference.

The last car I bought was a BMW 335i M-Sport convertible, which I bought approved-used from a BMW main dealer. They made me feel like royalty despite the car costing less than half what I paid for the Aston, and the service I had from them for the following 4 years was superb. If Stratstone are typical of Aston main dealer's then I suspect that no matter how amazing the car is I will not be a life-long owner.

If you want an Aston Martin ( and who doesn't ) look elsewhere. You may pay a little more but you won't be getting bargain basement service wrapped-up with an Aston Martin badge. What a shame and what a bad way to start the experience of finally realising a boyhood dream.

Stratstone BMW (Hull)

I went to the official BMW Service site bmw-service to find dealer details and service pricing for my planned BMW service. I entered my requirements, selected my dealer and printed my booking acknowledgement, complete with prices.
BMW Stratstone (Hull) called me the next day to confirm the booking.
Jessica, the service executive then quoted me prices for the work to be carried out, here they are...
Oil Service £195.12
Oil Service with Micro Filter £270.44
Brake Fluid £81
Rear Brake Pads £192.24

Feel free to check the official list prices from the BMW link above but here they are...
Oil Service £121
Oil Service with Micro Filter £179
Brake Fluid £62
Rear Brake Pads £169

Seems to me that some BMW dealers are getting greedy!!

That means that N E Body from N E Where calling BMW Stratstone (Hull) without the prior knowledge from the BMW Website, will get seriously stitched up!

On the Oil service with Microfilter that's a massive £91.44 (51%) MORE!!!

STRATSTONE NEWPORT; Brake failure of my Land Rover Discovery following MOT Test

My recent experience of Stratstone Land Rover in Newport was excellent until I drove my Discovery II away following its annual MOT Test. Although a now aging Land Rover, it continues to perform well and is very reliable and has never suffered any braking issues, at least not until I received it back from Stratstone Newport.

Admittedly, corroded brake pipes were advised on the MOT Test report, which in part contributed to the vehicle's test failure, but at no time was I advised that the car was unsafe to drive away.

On driving away from the garage, I was extremely lucky not to have been involved in a serious road collision whilst braking on approach to a roundabout. Having applied the brake pedal to find that it went almost to the floor, pumped it several times in quick succession with no effect, I finally had to resort to the handbrake to stop the vehicle.

It later transpired that the workshop team had discovered a pool of brake fluid on the garage floor after I'd left, but they were unable to alert me to the impending failure. Fortunately, the incident whilst distressing, passed without any serious consequences, but it could have been a very different story.

I'm not sure what Stratstone themselves have concluded as to the cause of this failure, but one thing is certain - the brakes on my car were working fine when I handed my vehicle over to the garage, but were not on receiving it back from them - A pretty serious failure I think most people would agree, however it happened.

Stratstone subsequently made a modest gesture of apology by undertaking some of the necessary repair work free of charge, but the whole experience has left me bewildered and very disappointed with them on this occasion.
