Hi Clare,

Thanks for your kind words. We love having him to stay, and hope that he loves to come here too - he certainly appears to!

His name suits him perfectly; he's regal wherever he is, and despite being a "mini" seems to sit head and shoulders above many of the others. It's all an misconception and act, though - he's as crazy as he should be for a schnauzer of his age!

Like all dogs that come to stay, we will give him our full attention at some point during each day, ensuring that there is nothing amiss and that he's not missing home too much.
The other week he met our lad for the first time, and other than him (our lad) giving a confused face over the name (I pointed out that "Henry" had been thus called, to which he agreed the name was apt), he found him a cracking dog to have around.
Having the energy that someone in their 30s should (I can remember - if I blow off the cobwebs and think really hard), he found him to easily outpace him, and your dog ended the day laying atop him. After all, he was sitting on the DOG sofa...and our lad didn't mind 😜😁

When we see you being pulled across the road and up or steep drive by your boy, it's a sign to us that we're still doing things right. If a dog is so keen to get here, then he must be happy to be here. You can't fake a revied like that!

Luna, or "Loops" (from Looper Luna) as she's sometimes known, is one of those dogs where you're surprised by what you get.
There was a worry, when we changed to only having small dogs that she might be too much for the smaller dogs - especially the puppies.
Worry spent over nothing.
She will always respond to what we're saying, making us wonder just exactly how much english she really knows! A testament, without doubt, to the training that you've given her over the years.

As a Working Cocker Spaniel, she would on the face of things be too much - too much energy, too much exuberance, too much "bounce", overall just not falling into the new way we operate...

BUT

Luna has a playful side, that is ever present, and anything can be turned into a game. But her breed is known to be soft-mouthed, and all games she plays she is sure to tame it down to be soft when required (eg With smaller dogs and puppies), or allow it to be rougher - like playing tug of war. She can start off putting her full effort into it, but on seeing me tire, she with instinctively know to slow things down and put in less effort - to ensure that the play can keep going!

One could expect a dog that will dive head first into the dirtiest puddle going, to have first that would be tougher than most - yet she has the softest going! Like a walking advert for the finest of human shampoos going, her ear tufts, feathering and tail blow in the wind like silken threads...only to be followed by a gaping mouth with tongue lolling to one side as she shoots past you at high speed - off in her own little world and as happy as can be.
When playing with youngsters, she clearly understands how to play best - and makes them chase her, slowing things down so they can keep up; there's no way she'd be caught otherwise. Keeping them entertained, whilst ensuring she's also entertained is a skill that other dogs have not necessarily mastered.

We like to try and keep you updated on what she's doing while here, as we know that fur-babies are missed - we do ours when we're away from them too! We've finally ironed out a lot of the snags we were having (who knew that our Web Host going bust would work out to be a good thing for us?), and continue to strive making things better and more streamlined for you to book her in for stays when you need them - be that just a day or for a few weeks.
If there's anything you think we could do better, please let us know! Regardless, Luna is welcome any time you'd like her to stay.

His Lordship, Sir Chester, found a way into our hearts within the first year of us starting - over a decade hence - and has remained there throughout.

Seeing him make friends with my late Henry was wonderful. The two of them were inseparable, and would walk - or run - shoulder to shoulder, getting into all kinds of mischief, like siblings from neighbouring properties. They remained like this all the way through Henry's life, each looking forward to them being together as much as the other.

After Henry ran over the Rainbow Bridge, Sir Chester of Ross missed his best pal terribly, but soon found that there were other dogs who knew him just as well, and he happily slotted into the role of a mischievous uncle. He still knows how to do all the "naughty" things he did with Henry, and has been showing the young pups with wisdom of his years. There's probably no trick left in the book that he doesn't know backwards, and still revels in his position of authority through years. Nodoggy questions him - least of all us!

He is a wonderful dog, that is dedicate to his job of being a smashing companion, food taster, burglar alarm (thankfully, never going off at night), and all round amazing animal. He has lived up to the original name he had, but is far better suited to his honorific, as he still moves with grace - and speed if desired. When walking in the woods, we never had to worry where he was off lead. We may not have been able to see him, but he always knew where we were. In the kindly manner he exudes, he would often pop back onto the track ahead of us to say "Here I am!" before darting back to his chosen playground.
There was one time, not long after he had first come to us, when we were at a loss as to where he may be. We need not have been concerned, as he was waiting for us - tapping his paw and looking at the sun for the time - back at the car where we'd parker.
We have trusted him implicitly since then.
Whilst we no longer go roaming the wood - too many ill mannered dogs about nowadays - and stay to the secure field, we let him loose in the field and never have to find him when it's time to leave. Indeed he has been known to help usher our own deaf dog back to the car, to make sure we don't encroach on someone else's allotted time.

Lord Chester is a wonderful dog, who had fitted in as part of our family from when we first met him, and continues to do so throughout. He often wakes from a catnap, with a look of glee in his eye. The other know the look better than us, and gather round to here what plan of mayhem - for us - he's devised during his nap.
A magical dog, who is perfectly matched to his two legged family.
We can't thank you enough for letting us take care of him when you do. He IS part of our family nowadays, with his own bedding, reserved bed & seat, food and toys. Our hearts beats as one with him when he is here - and we hope he has plenty more visits to come. He's still got so many tricks and games to pass onto the younger generation ❤️🤣

Oh, we just love having your dogs come and stay with us. I'm so sorry I missed replying to this, I clearly have been somewhat lax.

On a cold day, there's nothing better than a hot water bottle that will run over to you at high speed despite little legs,
She could defrost anything in no time. She makes a wonderful hand warmer, if you manage to sneak your hands under her without her turning into a wriggle monster! All she asks is for an under the duvet snuggle later to make up for it - and easy exchange to us! If she's not staying over, then it's just as easy to grab a blanky, wrap her up in it, and then watch with amusement as she turns it into her private nest - which may involve a tiny dog dragging an enormous blanket behind and then, preferably INTO to dog sofa.

Having known your beagle since she was still a puppy, really, it's been wonderful to see her grow in confidence and turn in to my hands down favourite beagle without question.

I remember the day of your meet and greet, and sitting on the floor telling you that she would be OK, despite not being the best with new people - and then her being upside on my legs having a tummy tickle. She just wanted to know she was safe - and I think she felt it there and they. She still does, ❤️
Woe betide if she doesn't get her lest cuddle before leaving! The doorbell goes, she knows it's you - and instead of bolting for the door like her sister she tears across the living room to me, often insisting to be picked up just one more time.
Now who could resist that!

Despite us now only taking small dogs, having been here since before we imposed that restriction, is has been our absolute pleasure to keep her on our books with "Grandfather Rights" to our old policy - one of the few we have applied that to.
We may get the occasional beagle through the doors now, but they've got to fall within the limitations we now insist upon.
She doesn't mind being one of the few larger dogs here - and she doesn't make any of the small dogs feel imposed upon by her size.; I think her little sister really helps her know what play for a small dog is - because when we're out in the field with her, if there's another large dog who has managed to stay with us, she will play with them as is fitting for their size.

You've raised a superb pair of dogs, and we hope to keep looking after your dogs for as long as we can.

We love having him in, and he certainly enjoys being here & amongst our pack.

Although initially dubious of us (they're cats - they're dubious about anything new!), but they have now grown to accept us as slaves whenever you're not able to!

Thanks, Sam, for a lovely and detailed review & description of what we try to achieve with everydoggy that comes to stay.
With my heart on my sleeve, it's been wonderful to see her develop from a shy little dog who wanted to keep herself to herself - to a wonderful, effervescent and loving animal who now wants to be part of everything. She's now so easy to be around and to entertain, it's a testament to the hard work that you've put in - and hopefully we have had a small part in that too.
She's more than welcome, she's missed when she's not here. She's an amazing dog that was always in there and has now the confidence to be herself whenever she's here.

Thanks Steve. To some, he may just be a little bit of a scruffy-looking blonde terrier, but to us, he's a fabulous dog with a great personality.

When we have the pair of them to stay, we don't see so much of the nervous dog that first came to stay - his confidence has grown and he'll always trot around after us happily.

Thank you Elaine; we always try to accommodate her needs, and she's a wonderful lap warmer/hot-water bottle.
I do miss her when she's not with us, as I always know that my lap will be full when she's here - she's velcroed to me at all times.

We always love having her to stay and will always help out at short notice, if we can.
She likes to keep to her own routine, and we like to help her to stay within what she wants to do - which quite often is just be a lap-dog with constant cuddles! This, we are more than happy to assist with!

Thanks Becky.
We remember the first time that you came in, having moved to the area.
It was such a loss, several years later, when your older dog died, but we'd always loved having him here.
His playmate is still as energetic as the first day he arrived some 6 1/2 years ago, and is a great personality to have here. He loves both his cuddles and his walks (I mean RUNS - because he can run like the wind when he wants), but he always comes back to us. We trust him, as much as he trusts us - which is lots both ways.
Here's to many more years of him coming!

Thanks, Marilyn. It's the highest praise that we can get when they run up to come in - dogs have the ability to sense where they're safe, and we encourage that from them.
Yours are always happy with us and have been for all of the 7 years or so that they've been coming. They now know the routine better than us, and can set your clock by them at treat time!
We've also loved to come to yours and look after the variety of animals you have too - and Nautilus clearly stands out in the field; quite literally!

Thanks, Chris. We've loved looking after your dogs and coming to the house for your cats too.
You've had quite a variety of dogs over the years, and that variety has been fabulous to tend to, play with and see some of them come out of their shell and be interactive.
They're all welcome at any time for anything that we can offer to them.
