I was shocked from the moment I tried it. The sound was exactly as I imagined it to be based on the SYOS sound questions.

"Great mouthpiece, perfect smoky sound"

First thought - Very pleasantly surprised! Thanks to SYOS for a website that was very helpful to me to pick a mouthpiece. The page with the artist track and tone and power rankings, is a great instrument. The Michael Wilbur mouthpiece just works so well for me. The right amount of darkness and brightness. Nice power and punch available and speaks easy in articulating.

Buying a saxophone mouthpiece is a difficult thing to do through the mail, but this was a very good experience. They have good online tools to help you figure out what you really want. The mouthpiece plays great, and got here surprisingly fast (considering it came from France).

Warm but also brilliant sound when needed and easy blowing.

Todo ha ido perfecto. Tuve que cambiar una boquilla porque no me satisfacía del todo ya que tenía un sonido demasiado brillante para mi gusto, solicité el cambio y todo fue genial, pude realizar el cambio por otra boquilla y ahora mismo estoy muy satisfecho con Syos. Muy recomendable. Volveré a comprar con ellos.

"Provides a versatile and powerful tone on my Yanagisawa T901 when required but also can sit back and give some velvety subtones. It took a while to adjust from my Jody Jazz mpc but this is definitely an improvement. The vivid green colour attracts quite a lot of comment."

The custom mouthpiece made by Syos works great on my Martin Comm III baritone sax, which is not uncritical in terms of intonation. Syos has found an optimal compromise between sound, response and intonation. Great work, thank you for that.

"Relativement débutant, sur les premiers essais je n'étais pas très convaincu. Mais plus je le joue plus je le trouve facile même avec des anches limite praticables qui du coup bien pour faire des exercices. Bonne émission du son. Je pense que je peux encore le travailler pour avoir un peu plus de nuance. Pas fait fait pour tout styles et formations mais on peu faire pas mal de choses déjà, ou acheter un autre bec plus brillant."

J’adore mon nouveau bec Spark. J’ai commencé à jouer sur du Meyer au conservatoire. Depuis plusieurs années je joue sur des becs au plafond brisé qui apporte à la fois de la brillance et une excellente réactivité du bec. Mais ce genre de bec nécessite une bonne maîtrise de son embouche, de sa colonne d’air et de son jeu pour garder la justesse du son. Mais le jeu en vaut la chandelle! Ce genre de bec permet de developer sa propre signature sonore. A la hauteur des autres marques en version métal.

Le bec Signature Gökhan Arslan est une réussite étonnante du fait de sa polyvalence. De formation classique (1er Prix et Medaille d’Or du Conservatoire de Marseille) et ne jouant, aujourd’hui que du Middle Jazz, je souhaitais un bec suffisamment ouvert pour me donner un son puissant et flexible, sans pour autant en hypothéquer la qualité sonore. Je dois reconnaître que la conception de ce bec répond en grande partie à mes attentes. Avec une ouverture de 135/100e de mm et une table relativement courte il répond au triple objectif de projection, de flexibilité et de timbre que j’attendais. Pour tirer le meilleur parti du Gökhan Arslan, je joue avec des 2.5, 56 rue Lepic de Vandoren. Peut être aurais-je , dans le futur l'envie de commander un bec sur mesure, proche de ce modèle avec une table un peu plus longue. Seul le temps présidera à cette éventuelle décision. Pour résumer : un bec de grande qualité, très polyvalent, non caricatural comme peuvent l’être d’autres becs réputés « jazz » proposés par des marques historiques. Félicitations à Syos pour la qualité de son travail."

This custom thing shouldn't work, but it does. Think about it. First you have to describe, using words, the sounds you want. That's not easy. Second SYOS have to adopt those words into a different language without anything being lost in translation. That's not a given. Then SYOS's 3D elves have to spin that understanding into plastic. That can't be easy. Yet they just made me the best mouthpiece I've ever owned. With only one 'sighting' iteration before finding the sound I wanted. How they do that I don't know. But if you're thinking 'mmm, I don't know...' dither no more. Just go for it. Own your inner voice, possibly one you didn't even know you had.

I love this new Baba tenor m.p.! I prefer a dark sound in my music and the Baba delivers that with a smaller chamber then traditional dark mouthpieces which allows me more control thru the song. Thanks SYOS!
