Charge you after you cancel the subscription
I had subscribed to it for 4 years already. When I decied to cancel my subscription they continued to charge my credit card even after I have submitted the request. Afterwards they suspended my account for accessing their contents, so basically I paid 1 more year of subscription fee without any access. What a joke
Quality Content - No Complaints
Unlike many of the reviews here, I’m quite happy with the content and the annual price I paid - $299. The AI content is better than most, and helps with research for investing in private AI related startups on Angel List or similar.
I proactively canceled my annual renewal (based on the reviews here) so I don’t forget and get a surprise charge next year. That way, I will be able to decide at that time if I want to do another year again or not.
Do your own research
They're so good at regurgitating older, outdated, information as if it was NEW. They are right up there with the likes of used car salespeople, realtors, lawyers and hedge fund managers.
Strategy to prevent people from disconnecting
I was getting emails from them. Then I tried to unsubscribe to stop the emails. With all other emails from organizations/companies that I want to stop, when I click on unsubscribe, it takes me to a webpage that easily allows me to do that
But when I clicked on the link to supposedly do that, there are no apparent ways to unsubscribe. All of the options only deepen your involvement--clicking on one of their newsletters toggles only between "Following" to "Subscribe."
For The Information to make it difficult like this is a strategy to keep people on the hook...
Did not have what I was looking for but did have a lot of info!
The reason it was not a 5 is because unfortunately they did not have the documents I was looking for. I signed up for the free trial and had issues with being charged more than what I had agreed. I contacted customer service and they explained where the charge came from and they realized it was not something I wanted, so they refunded it to me. They explained that the other charge is only a hold, for if I would have wanted to continue the service. I do not like that they held the money but as they promised it fell of when I canceled the subscription. Their customer service was quick and very professional!!!
Information.com “one time fee” SCAM - I wish I could give negative stars for…
I wish I could give negative stars for information.com. Don’t use them. They aren’t any good!
Nowhere did it say I would be charged more than once for the “one time” report/“one time” pdf I got. But here we are with my card being charged a “monthly - $29.99” subscription fee. I email support and ask for it to be cancelled immediately and I’m given run around emails. I called the number and the guy mumbled the whole conversation. Asked if I would take it for $19.99 and I said no so he goes with the employee discount of $9.99. Seriously, right now?!?! No, I didn’t want a monthly anything, I’m the first place which was why I chose the “ONE TIME” report. I wasn’t even offered a refund. Then he gives me my “cancellation number” which was the process number for the initial “one time only” report I got. I get the cancellation email and the correct one was in the email, but seriously. I better not be charged anything else or I will talk to a lawyer. I am so fed up.
I am beyond sick of being scammed by people and businesses.

One of the slimiest experiences I've ever had and they're fairly overt about being slimy. Their "policy is no refunds" despite their policy also stating that "All users will be sent an email from The Information prior to any renewal with the upcoming pricing terms allowing a window of time where they may choose to cancel before their subscription renews for the next period." I ABSOLUTELY NEVER received this email. Scammed out of $449!!! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS PUBLICATION!!!!! Hard to believe that someone trying to be reputable would have these policies in this day and age.
Plain old spammers
They are just spammers, hitting my junk box daily, non-stop.

Extremely poor customer service and agree with shadiness of payment practices as mentioned in other reviews
Love the insights and wish there was more startup metrics
Love the insights, wish they had more startup news in the Series C range. They cover the Magnificent 7 well enough, but that's not all the world of technology has to offer! Their org charts are usually dated, and I stuck around for their coverage mostly. If it weren't as expensive as the WSJ, I'd have kept it around, but I got way too many subs as it is and gotta pinch those pennies.
Spam factory
Spam factory. Emails you 4x per day and you gotta jump through hoops to unsubscribe.
Auto renewal for $499
Auto renewal for $499.
When I tried to cancel the day my card was billed was told they wouldn’t respect my request.
Really astounded by their actions.
Beware!!
Tech Journalism at a high price
First, the subscription content is generally a cut above what you might find on a typical tech news site, especially the exclusive content. It comes at a very high cost, though, and unless you’re working in the tech sector or you're a tech investor, I find it hard to recommend unless you can secure a hefty discount that was available when I subscribed.
On the very negative side, when I subscribed, the Information was transitioning to a pro and non-pro subscription option - the pro option offers features like org charts and databases at nearly double the price of the regular subscription. However, when I subscribed, the advertisement showed access to all features at the regular discounted price. Shortly after I subscribed, they cut me off from the pro offerings even though the plan I subscribed to included it. Definitely not cool.
On the caveat emptor side, you should consider using a pre-paid or virtual credit and/or ensure you cancel your account before the renewal.
This isn't a "news" site, it's just a scam
Pretty much echoing what every other person said on here - they sign you up for 12 months, don't give you the option to turn off auto-renew, no email reminder to tell you an automatic renewal you didn't agree to is coming up, and then refuse to refund your yearly scam price of $400 on day 1 because that's their "policy". If anyone else is in my shoes, file a complaint with your credit card company and if your credit card company doesn't agree with you, report your card to the consumer financial protection bureau - they'll give you your money back pretty quickly
$400 auto renew, without any notice..Beware
they will auto renew the subscription and will charge you $400, so be mindful before subscribing. Their policy "we don't do refunds" , super vague in this day and age. Their articles lack depth. They merely cover any details that can provide any sort of insights. You are better off reading hacker news and TechCrunch or any other reputed tech news site.
Be careful of no-notice renewal.
I stopped reading TI shortly after signing up because I didn’t think it provided much insight beyond what you get in the popular press. I forgot it was there and they renewed my subscription for $399 without notice. Their website said they would give notice before renewal. Anyway, they said they wouldn’t honor my cancelation. It’s bad business ethics, but what are you going to do? I tried to read it again since I paid for it, but there still really isn’t much to it.
Designed to rip you off
Do not subscribe. This is a ripoff by design. They autorenew automatically, don't allow you to turn off autorenew, don't send a notice prior to autorenewal, make it almost impossible to unsubscribe, and refuse to offer any refunds under any circumstances. This is intentional, predatory, and the worst sort of business practice. Avoid like the plague.

Misrepresents the price as $399 only to show $299 once you download their app. Refuses to refund the difference left a bad taste. Their cancellation link buried several pages deep and in the bottom of the page.

I wanted to get access for a month but they charged me for 12 months.. I reahed then within 1 minute but they refuse to refund me the 11 months I did not agree to pay.. really outrageous...
