Quick and easy purchase of my cherished Range Rover. A man of his word.

Impressive isn't it? The name, website, premises. Clever too - it matches the caché of the sort of cars sold here, especially Landrover products. But it's the first misrepresentation of truth - that Tyger operates from his parents front yard - that was a theme of my experience of Tholstrup Motors. A 2010 5.0 V8 Supercharged RangeRover advertised with top spec, top price and in our early discussions, a car that could readily be driven, as was my need, straight to the French Alps. "Exceptional" "a rare level of mechanical reassurance and making this a stand-out opportunity among its peers", "a no-expense-spared approach to maintenance and upkeep" and "a rare opportunity to acquire a low-mileage, superbly maintained L322 in its ultimate guise—fully sorted and ready to be enjoyed." were all part of the advert.

Hmm, no. Collected from the train station in the car which was unwashed and dirty, it was immediately apparent the HVAC didn't work. Tyger remonstrated that it had been working fine until that very moment. We learned it couldn't have been, the car never having been regassed after the engine change. I should have walked away. I made a mistake, taking the car on the basis that the fault was sorted at Tholstrup expense. Of course that turned into my time and effort and a real saga - it couldn't after all be driven to the French alps with 2 kids and a dog on board in 40C+ heat. There were other tell tale signs that it was not as described; a missing engine cover, no parcel shelf, a very chequered MOT history which reflected an alternative approach to maintenance to that described in the advert.

We gave 2 opportunities for the car to be fixed before writing to reject the car, as is our right under the UK consumer rights act 2015. Tyger’s response was a lowball cash amount involving the cars owner (it must have been on SoR) - not really the basis of contract law. I engaged a lawyer and in the end, was refunded in full for the car but not for the lawyer or other sunk costs such as travel.

So - caveat emptor and all that. The car description was just prose; it’s underpinnings as tarnished as the suspension components. By all means buy from Tholstrup Cars. Just make sure you're actually getting what you paid for. In my experience, integrity and ethics are as absent as a working HVAC system.

Selling my car to Tyger was the least stressful and most straightforward sales process that I’ve had. Throughout, he was a pleasure to deal with; Communication was open and honest, Payment was prompt and easy and his collection company arrived when they said they would. A gentleman in a sea of sharks.

Tyger’s business offers quality vehicles - and therefore, quite rightly, at a price premium vs other dealers trying to present poor quality vehicles that require endless work and money spent on them. Kept to his word regarding a deal and a small issue that needed sorting on the vehicle. Happy customer.

I was having a lot of trouble selling my Range Rover with people who promised but never turned up then I did some research and came across Tholstrup Motorcars so one phone call later they turned up had a good look at the car made me an offer, I accepted, money was transferred immediately and they drove off into the sunset. Brilliant, them and the sunset.
