No Church Should Have to Chase Its Own Donations

Our small church has relied on Tithe.ly for more than a decade to process donations and manage our website. Unfortunately, over the past two years, we have experienced a deeply troubling and increasing pattern of delayed deposits — particularly involving larger donations.

The most recent example is especially alarming: a recurring donation made at approximately 4:00 AM on June 5 still had not been deposited into our organization’s bank account as of 4:00 PM on June 16 — nearly 12 full days later. Even more concerning, multiple smaller donations received after this transaction were fully processed and deposited during that same timeframe, while the larger donation remained inexplicably delayed. This is not an isolated incident. It has happened repeatedly.

For churches and nonprofits that often rely on week-to-week giving to meet operational obligations, delays of this magnitude are not minor inconveniences — they create real financial strain and uncertainty.

What makes the situation significantly worse is the lack of meaningful customer support. Tithe.ly offers no direct phone support, leaving customers dependent on chat, an AI bot, ticket queues, and uncertain response times. When financial deposits are delayed, organizations are left with virtually no accountability, transparency, or urgency from the company entrusted to steward donor funds.

After more than 10 years as loyal customers, this decline in reliability and responsiveness has been profoundly disappointing. We expected far better from a platform that serves churches and faith communities.

Shady billing practices and won't cancel.

I signed up for the free trial to explore options. I used my personal credit card to get the free trial, cancelled after the free trial was over, then was promptly billed $200. I went through the cancellation process, cancelled all of it, was confirmed by their customer service that it was cancelled, then was billed a 2nd month for... $200. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!

Not to mention, they will overwhelm you with shady sales people.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I am a widow, one of my severely disabled sons who is on palliative care cannot cancel his donation. Our pastor is leaving. My other disabled son and I were able to cancel our donations. Sam cannot access his account, we have spent hours trying and also trying to contact Tithe.ly for the past 2 weeks. They are totally unresponsive.

Tithely is a tremendous suite of applications that allows for quick integration, church member management, and easy engagement with the church family. I highly recommend it for any size local church.

It is easy to use

It is easy to use. I really like the new bank report. The only negative is how long it takes some of the offerings to actually get to the bank.

Like the Platform and Tools!

Have been really liking the Tithely platform. Still learning, but pretty easy to navigate. One suggestion for improvement would be to allow the admin person to select certain donors to have a tax statement created, rather than running it for every donor in your database. Seems silly to create new files for all of my donors if I only need one statement. Otherwise, so far, so good! Nice job on what is offered, so Thank you!!

Navigate on line a real problme

Finding where I need to go to accomplish my task is really awkward. I notice that an individual giver (myself) and a church are all thrown together. I notice the company has gotten bad review for its web presence. So...fix it! It is a serious problem especially since almost everyone is going to contact the company through the web. I wanted to add additional giving, but wanted it to go to a specific ministry. I could not figure how to do it, so I'll just do it in person. Tithely has a serious problem and needs to look over the shoulder of someone trying to make contact.

As a church plant in an another country…

As a church plant in an another country I would not endorse for one reason …. Integrity. The only part of this company we used was the giving part which was free. We just had 119 withdrawn as apparently it’s been 12 months. They could actually look and see it’s not used but didnt. Some one who has managed sales companies for 20 years I get it.. partly! Why call and risk them xxling and losing the $$. An email leading up to the 12 months would be great or a follow up call. As launching a new church is hard as you know, but reconciling 12 months on a platform unused a check in would go a long way near the end. Tried explaining yesterday for a refund on that to no avail. So feed back I’m putting here and to anyone who asks or if platforms come up as I travel for ministry a lot I’ll say the same thing. Blessings

First, thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. Church planting is incredibly hard work, and we genuinely want to support church planters as they step out in faith to start new ministries.

One thing that may be helpful context for others reading this: we offer all of Tithely’s software free for the first 12 months to church plants. After that first year, the church management system moves to its standard subscription if the account remains active.

That said, your feedback is fair. While churches agree to the subscription when signing up, we don’t currently monitor usage before the transition, and I agree that better communication leading up to month 12 would be helpful — whether that’s reminders, check-ins, or clearer notices. We’re always looking for ways to improve, and feedback like this helps us do that.

If the platform wasn’t being used, that’s not the experience we want for you. I’d be happy to personally make this right — including refunding the charge and cancelling the church management subscription while keeping your Giving tools active and free, since that’s the part you’re using.

Not there yet but improving

There are some parts that have been very effective and dependable. But there’s still much development to be done. We love the prayer wall. Very effective. Our live streaming had some initial kinks, but they have been worked out and it’s been very reliable as well. But we continue to have consistent problems with messaging in the group as well as notifications, especially if it’s an android phone.
