Feeling scammed!
Bought a Getac V110 from TOUGHCOM with a clearly advertised specification including Bluetooth, SIM/WWAN, webcam, barcode reader, ExpressCard and SmartCard.
After payment, they informed me that the advertised unit was no longer available and offered “a replacement of the same model” with upgrades. I accepted this in good faith.
The replacement turned out to be missing several of the features I had originally purchased. They also offered to upgrade the RAM “if preferred”; I explicitly requested this, but the laptop was still delivered with 12GB. The original unit also included a vehicle charger, but I was charged an additional €40 for one with the replacement.
What concerns me most is how their explanation changed afterwards. They later acknowledged in writing that the missing functions were indeed part of the original laptop’s specification, but then claimed the replacement did not need to include them.
The condition of the laptop was also presented in a way I consider misleading. Damage that looked like a small dent in the supplied photos turned out in reality to be a crack with an actual hole in the casing. That is a major difference on a rugged laptop, because it also compromises the water resistance of the unit.
Instead of resolving these issues properly or offering a reasonable price reduction, TOUGHCOM refused any further remedy and declared the matter closed.
Very poor experience. I strongly recommend keeping screenshots of every listing, every photo and every promise in writing before buying or accepting any thing from TOUGHCOM.
