absolutely appalled by the service of this company. the locksmith was very aggressive when trying to break my lock. he damaged my new carpet with WD-40 and broke my door handle which now needs replacing. i was left without a secure lock over night because the locksmith didn't seem very bothered to find a lock to fit in. I tried sending an email to complain to the company but keeps on bouncing back! disgusting service.
Watch out
Watch out - £175 to drill out a lock!
Plus £39 call out, plus £59 labour (15mins)
Plus cost of new lock
£525 total - if I wasn't stressed out and in a rush I'd never have paid this.
Absolutely despicable company
Absolutely despicable company. Got caught out after waiting over 2 hours for supposed 30 minute call out guarantee.
Panicked as had been locked out of the house so stupidly did not read the reviews.
When eventually turned up - 10 minute job £558 charge!!
Am going to try & claim on home insurance but please don’t get caught out by these scammers.
EXCESSIVE costs
This company gives tradespeople a bad name
This company are the epitome of rip-off merchants. I had been having issues with my front door lock and called this company out in good faith. The locksmith arrived in fairly good time and after a short while, informed me that the gearbox section of the door locking mechanism would need replacing at the cost of around £400 with an additional £89 for labour plus VAT to be added. This raised a red flag for me as he was too vague about the exact cost of the lock itself. I informed him that I would rather source the part myself and he proceeded to inform me that I needed to pay an additional £89 +VAT to the £39 call out fee to simply put the existing lock back on (I of course refused). What I am most disgusted by is the fact that the part required can easily be obtained for less than £100.
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!
We were quoted £39 call out charge after shutting our front door, with the spare keys in the interior lock.
The locksmith said he'd have to drill the lock out, I said no... that he must have a Scribbler or some similar tool, he went to have a look in his Mercedes car and came back with said tool.
Two minutes later we were indoors, the bill came to £226... we expected to have to pay but that was daylight robbery... thank goodness we stopped him, unnecessarily, drilling the lock out !!!
Racist rude and useless:
Racist rude and useless:
I called out because we had gotten locked out of the apartment. There was no mention of a call out charge anywhere. The guy arrives and says he is unable to open the door without damaging it. I refuse the service and he asks for the call out charge. I didn't know there was a 46.80 call out charge. So, I start asking him why I wasn't informed of this in the first place and why he can't send me an invoice at the address we were standing at so that I can settle it with his company.
At this point, the locksmith became very rude and and racist. Rather than having a civil conversation around it, he started educating me about how things are done in this country.
Since it was an emergency situation, I made the payment so that we can go and get the spare keys before it gets too late. But the audacity for such repugnant behaviour was truly shocking.
The helpline service I used to get them was also utterly useless and refused to take any action or be of any help. At the end of the day, the experience didn't solve the problem, subjected me to some abhorent racist behaviour and with a charge which wasn't made clear at all.
We have regrettably used this company…
We have regrettably used this company after it coming up as locksmith-ltd.co.uk on their google advertisement. We have a similar experience to others where we were advised of the £49 call out fee on the phone but once the 'locksmith' got here we were advised they needed to drill the lock at £270. I wish we said no at that point but accepted those fees given the circumstances but as others had mentioned already, they are vague about what they will actually charge you for completed works and we ended up paying over £600 for a replacement lock. Avoid at all costs and if a reputable locksmith is showing closed on google go on their website and check instead for their emergency number. We will be reporting to trading standards!
SCAM!!
Charged us £664 for a lock to be changed!! Drilled into the lock immediately when he arrived, before even discussing the price or works with us. When we stopped him to ask about prices, the locksmith said "well I've drilled into the door now". I've since found out this is a known scam. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
RIPOFF SCAMMERS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF DISABLED YOUNG WOMAN
Was initially quoted 280 for a front door lock drill and change after being locked out and no response from my letting agent. I have a neurological disorder and needed my medication which was inside, so I felt I had no choice
Boy kept adding on more charged and I ended up paying over £500. I was scammed, no doubt
Avoid this company
AVOIDE company.. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE OVERCHARGED!
They charged me £650 for replace a lock.
The lock i searched on website only £18. but i was charged £280.
Later i wrote email to the company, but the email was refused back.
THEY DON'T HAVE A PROPER CONTACT INFO.
DO NOT call these rip off…
DO NOT call these rip off contractors. They charged me 518.40 GBP to just change a front door lock!
The work was very poor and frankly you are their mercy once you call them. They keep adding charges on top of a nominal 49 GBP call out to creatively make an exorbitant bill at the end!
Rip off merchants
Disgusting service. My grandparents called the company out. Once they had done the initial work and were paid they never came to complete the job. Called numerous times and promised they would be there and still havent come. He is rude and to rip off to pensioners shows the class of this disgusting company.
Never use this company for anything...
Never use this company for anything, they fleece people and most especially the frail and elderly. They do not belong to 'any' trade organisations (BIG WARNING), most of the links on their poor website don't work, they charge extortionate prices. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Absolute jokers
Absolute jokers, charged my 89 year old mother 830 pounds to open and replace a front door lock. The job looks like a monkey did it, the striker is wobbly with a screw missing and paper packing hanging out, the door can be moved 10mm in and out when closed and a metal stick on plate to cover over the hole they drilled in the wood door that overhangs the glass window, not even an effort to trim it. As i said, absolute joke. The lock fitted is 24 pounds in toolstation, a standard TSS lock. Better option is to kick your door open than use these people, it will leave less mess. These scammers make my blood boil and im not finished with them yet. DISGUSTING-DO NOT USE THEM
Absolute cowboys DO NOT USE
Absolute cowboys DO NOT USE, front door wouldn’t open at my mums house so panicked and called these who came out, young foreign guy turned up and first thing he wanted was a signature, charged £49 call out and £49 to drill the cylinder (which I could have done quicker) but obviously I didn’t have any spares, he still couldn’t get the door open so he suggested he needed to drill big holes in the door when the hooks are in the mechanism or chip the bricks away and take the full door and frame out, considering my mum is vulnerable and it was -2c outside it was a NO, he then whipped out a card machine, took payment and off he went so still couldn’t get the door open, he just turned around and left.
The next day I got a reputable local locksmith out who had the door open in less than a minute and diagnosed the problem straight away, he replaced the faulty part and replaced the cylinder that the cowboy had needlessly drilled out!!

The key to my front door broke in the…
The key to my front door broke in the lock and so I searched for local (Bury Lancashire) locksmiths on Google. Top listing was a local service - not called Tradespex - who I called out. £49 call out charge. Guy came and said he would have to drill out the key and it would be £125. I asked what then, he said it would need a new lock. I asked how much and he said he couldn't tell me until he took the old lock out. I pushed for a price and he said between £75 and £300!! I said no thanks and called a local tradesman who came out - that evening, out of hours - and flicked the broken key out with a screwdriver in 10 seconds. He didn't charge because there was no time spent. Watch out for this lot. Predators.
Scam
Front door handle broke off so called someone out for my 86 year old Dad. First quoted £250. Eventually the bill was £756!!!!! Disgusting. Vat number doesn't even exist. Tried sending an email and was returned by the post master at Outlook. DO NOT USE
Absolute scammers
