Extremely disappointing and disrespectful experience and unfortunately not the first one.
I had already purchased the same coat before, but it arrived much smaller than expected, making it unusable. What followed was an exhausting and frustrating return process. The return policy is unclear, confusing and difficult to follow, offering very little guidance to the customer.
Only after sending six emails, and after repeatedly chasing both Debenhams and Urban Studio, did I finally receive the correct return procedure by email. Even then, despite the return being accepted, I was forced to wait 14 days to receive my refund, which is unacceptable given that the issue was not caused by the customer.
Despite this previous experience, I placed the order again. This second purchase was made 10 days ago, with sufficient time for processing and dispatch. However, only on December 23rd, the day before my Christmas trip, I was informed that the item I had already paid for was supposedly the last piece available and had been damaged, resulting in the cancellation or delay of my order.
If the item was damaged or unavailable, it should never have been listed or sold. Informing the customer at the very last moment, especially right before Christmas, shows a complete lack of organisation and respect.
As a direct consequence of this failure, I was forced to urgently find another coat at the last minute, on the eve of my trip, dealing with unnecessary stress, lost time and potential additional costs, all caused by the seller’s operational mistakes.
To make matters worse, once again, instead of offering an immediate refund, the company attempts to impose a 14 day waiting period, despite being unable to fulfil the contract. Customers are not obliged to accept delays, substitutions or extended refund times due to a seller’s error.
This clearly demonstrates a pattern of poor service, delayed communication and disregard for the customer’s rights.
It is genuinely concerning that Debenhams continues to work with a seller that operates at this level, repeatedly causing stress and inconvenience to customers. This reflects badly not only on Urban Studio, but also on the marketplace that allows such practices.
I do not recommend this seller.
