This gym has gone downhill

This gym has gone downhill.

It's ridiculous.

The steam room, massage tables, and other equipment are always down.

The showers reek of mildew and mold. They should be sprayed with bleach disinfectant daily.

They waste the staff's time​ checking guests' passes instead of having them spray the showers daily​ and clean the bathrooms and rack the weights.

The staff are okay. It's the owner!

The South side location is way better and equipment isn't always down.

My review is about vasas billing. I'm shocked at all the negative reviews for their billing practices. I've been a vasa member since it was golds gym and was bought out. I've always had the same membership it's about $20.00 a month. The gym itself is ok except that vasa in Orem is always packed hard to find parking. But that's not my complaint.. about 3 months ago vasa started billing me twice a month 20.00 then 18.00 a week or so later. First I thought it was one of their fees they surprise you with until they did it next two months also. I called vasas billing office called paramount acceptance. They put you on hold for ever and rarely text you or call you back if you choose that option. Now my account is $127.00 past due as there's several decline nsf fees for funds they were trying to take out. I was told by paramount that I had changed my membership to studio. I don't even know what that is or means. Apparently studio you can bring guests or friends or something. I didn't ask for this. I'm a 61 yr old retired man. I don't have any 60 something hommies that want to workout or go to the gym and my wife's disabled. So I can't access the gym until they figure it out. They owe me money that they took out. I told paramount ok credit my account and we're good but now my account is under some type of hold review of my account . I can tell from all the previous reviews how this is going to turn out. So I'm going to another fitness center tomorrow. I don't have time for their incompetence and sketchy business practices

VASA FITNESS ARE CROOKS LOOKING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!!
In January I decided to go on a health journey and decided to try personal training at Vasa Fitness on 100th and Wadsworth. it was super close to my house and was excited for this new journey. About 2 weeks into my sessions, I was called and told my trainer had moved on and they set me up with a different trainer. We got along really well, she seemed motivated and ready to help me with my goals. She started to miss sessions because her mother was sick in the hospital. So she had missed 2 sessions but had been told they would make up the sessions. the last week in May, my trainer told me she would be out for 2-3 weeks because her mother passes away but she would return and make up my sessions. When 2-3 weeks rolled around, I had not heard from her so I contacted Vasa and was told that they would get me a trainer, 4 more conversations later and about 3 weeks later, I finally get hooked up with a trainer. I was upset it took this much effort to get the services I was paying for. The new trainer worked with me for 2 weeks and then quit herself. I talked to the front desk 2-3 more times asking if I should freeze my account until my trainer came back and asked if my trainer on leave was even coming back. They told me she would be ready to start July 27th assured me she would be back and ready to make up my sessions. August 2nd rolls around and I still have heard from my trainer. So I contact the front desk again, I am pretty upset at this point and am told that she is not coming back but that they will set me up with someone else. August 4th, I call and ask who is going to be my trainer. They tell me oh yeah, sorry about that we will get you hooked up with someone right away. August 5th rolls around, no word from Vasa, so I call again and am told they will get me a trainer that evening. I am texted that evening from a new trainer; he ask my availability and I give him several times on everyday but Friday. He replies that he only has Friday's available. At this point I am LIVID. I don't want to work this company anymore. I ask the front desk for a refund. They said of course we can get you a refund only to find out that NO actually they won't refund my money but they could upgrade me or cancel my payments and wave the 30 day notice.

VASA WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. THEY WILL CON YOU INTO PAYING.
THEY ARE CROOKS AND ONLY LOOKING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. I WAS SPENDING $90 A WEEK, DIDN'T GET SERVICES FOR 3 MONTHS AND ARE REFUSING TO REFUND ME.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET PERSONAL TRAINING FROM SOME OTHER COMPANY OR PERSON.

Vasa has a rigid cancellation policy…

Vasa has a rigid cancellation policy that includes a 30 day notice. Yet they don’t tell you about this when signing up. They will continue to charge your account for a month after canceling, which sucks if this includes the $50 “rate guarantee fee.” I am very frustrated with Vasa’s customer service and will be looking for a new gym that cares about people, not just making money.

My name is Michael Jordan, and I have been a VASA member for several months (and was a member in the past). During a recent visit, I experienced extremely unprofessional treatment from both a staff member and the manager.

When I went to purchase a protein bar, the employee did not greet me, refused to engage, and only pointed to the register without saying a word. When I asked for his name and corporate’s number, he refused. The manager then came out and immediately reprimanded me without asking what happened, siding with the employee and escalating the situation. I left feeling disrespected and frustrated, and I have never been treated this way at any gym.

Scammy hidden fees and technicalities

The gym is fine, the equipment and staff were good, but as many have said, their cancellation policy is full of hidden fees and scammy policies. They are correct in that their fees are officially in the contract, but the details they get you with, mainly the rate guarantee fee, are buried, obscure and confusing. We had a very frustrating conversation with their customer service company that leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. I would like to be able to recommend the place, but absolutely cannot because of their unethical practices of extracting fees through technicalities. Seems like very poor business practice that won’t serve them well in developing a positive brand identity. Stay away and use a different option, there are many.

Avoid like the plague…

Their billing policies are a complete scam. Even if you try to freeze your account, they will take all the 3 months of the freeze and make you pay anyway after the freeze is over. So you are still paying even though you're not using the facility. And they give no warning either. They just take it from your bank.
If your account is frozen you cannot cancel it either.
They will not call you back either. You'll wait for someone and eventually ask to be called back. They won't.

No one on the phone can help anyway. I tried to cancel and no one could help me.
I'm still trying to cancel this BS.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Go to a community recreation center instead and support your city.

The facility was nothing special. The pool was always freezing cold. Staff was basically just college kids who needed a paycheck, didn't really want to be bothered by anyone.

Don't fall victim to Vasa

This place is run down. They have old machines with wear and tear on them. Showers don't work except two. One being a handicap stall with half a curtain on it. Now here is the real kicker, I was assaulted by another member. I called the police, they removed the assailant and then the gym cancels my membership because I defended myself. They will not have your back as a victim. I guess they want you to be injured and assaulted. There are nicer gyms in the area, with the same amenities and nicer people.

I wouldn't even give it one star review but was required to leave a review. The VASA on Sheridan and Jewel has broken machines and is dirty. They don't seem to care about the average gym person. It seems they care about the classes that require additional dollars added to your membership.

I Cancelling my membership and feel a…

I Cancelling my membership and feel a bit scammed. After a month and a half I wanted to quit which I was able to do but had to pay a ton in fees. You pay for an extra month when quitting, you pay a $25 cancellation fee and they charge you this ridiculous $50 fee to “lock in rate for the year”.

Liars and Decievers

As you read this keep in mind the two stars would be five if this company was not steeped in constant feeding lies and deception toward their customer base.

Gym itself great! All kinds equipment activities amenities.

Then there is the management and staff. In the over two years continuous I was a member while living in CO, then relocation to GA for work. I of course had to cancel my membership. We'll get to that... Argh!!!!

During my time at this gym there were few times where I had to change my membership level. Every time I had to do this it came at a cost. Which if told about it, I'd have no problem with. Financially each time I could have planned for.

The 1st time staff member completely omitted this fact. Came back later brought it up, without saying it the outright I was told we don't care. 2nd, time I was offered an increase to a studio red at ZERO cost to me expect for the increased membership price upon next month payment. Specifically asked about the price guarantee fee $50 based on the prior experience. The guy right-out lied to my face. even Staffer had audacity to emotionally play off my veteran status. Low common dominator of human. Brought it up again after a surprise VASA charge one day on my account. Staff looked at me like I was A-Hole for bringing it up. To save money I eventually lowered my membership to lowest level. I knew I was about 2 eat the cost to SAVE money after being deceived and lied to the first tow times.

Now canceling, ready to relocate. Went into my home gym location over one full month prior to my moving. Staff member told me to my face, "You been with VASA for over six months it cost zero for you to cancel." "Come in before the end of your final billing cycle and go online and cancel it." Did exactly that, low and behold the again lies and deception. They processed a new payment before my new cycle date and as I was cancelling. NO F'ING refund! Paramount a none VASA company does all their support bidding.

Never again!!!

The staff at Vasa are amazing. Their 3rd party billing, Paramount Acceptance, is the reason I quit Vasa years ago. Figured I'd give them another try. Same billing issues and when a mistake is made, they deflect any responsibility, because, "It's the 3rd party billing." Never again!

DO NOT sign up for personal training…

DO NOT sign up for personal training you will WASTE your money. VASA fitness does not have customer service.
I signed up for a 3 months personal training which is fairly pricey to get back in shape after having my little one.
Half way through my personal coach that I had built a relationship and knew my goals left, the new coach was not good, he could not remember what the macro was or just not being a coach more of a spectator of me working out, fast forward and I am almost done with my training cessions and without any communication notice or anything I am going to my scheduled cession only to be told “oh yeah this trainer left two days ago” no email, no call nothing. Well I asked for a credit for this cession (membership, store whatever they could do to make up) as it was our last cession and it was completely purposeless to have a new trainer for one cession. So again waste of money. The gym said well sorry corporate said they won’t do any effort so I guess they made $45 for a service that they did not provide.
Fast forward again weird charges on my account I brought it up to them on the phone and was told “oh yes you are right, we will issue you credit for the wrong charges” a week later nothing and I am told who did you talk to, we need to email corporate and ask for them to approve, like come one !

Toxic gym culture, fat shaming & racist members

Northbrook IL: Filthy and overcrowded, bathrooms are disgusting, saunas smell terrible. Toxic gym culture with staff fat shaming gym members and PT clients. Hired personal trainer with a history of sexual harassment. Racist members harassing people in locker rooms. Cruelty and toxic behavior. If you want a supportive and positive environment with real empathy for each other, recommend finding cross fit or MMA gym. Both have been an incredible community so far.

A new front desk worker by the name of…

A new front desk worker by the name of Nick has been quite rude to other employees at the front. As I would walk by or go to purchase items I would hear him belittle his suppose to be co-workers. I found it very unprofessional and sad. Vasa hire better.

Disappointed

My wife signed us up for a 6 month trial period, $25 a month. Next thing we know they are taking out $70 for an annual fee. Which it never stated and now since we canceled we get harassed by collections. I advise not to join.

VASA HAS CRIMINAL PRACTICES AND POLICIES. THEY DUPED MY CHILD INTO SIGNING A CONTRACT WHEN HE WAS THERE FOR A ONE DAY GUEST PASS. He went ONE day and six months later, he is now in collections. STAFF ARE RUDE. THEY REFUSED TO LET ME TALK TO A MANAGER. Paramount does VASA's billing. Paramount DOES NOT ANSWER CALLS, making it impossible to attempt to resolve matters. VASA IS THE WORST!! CRIMINAL AND FRAUDULENT PRACTICES. DECEITFUL. THIEVES. PREY ON THE YOUNG. I'm on the brink of looking into a class action suit. SOMEONE HAS TO STOP THEM!!!
