With not being able to use our dog’s French passport this year, we looked at options for AHC and decided to use Vet Home Certs due to reviews and location. The online form process is easy, just double check what you record as this forms your AHC. The team responded to questions quickly and changed our date when we requested, very helpful. I was sceptical about meeting a vet in a what 3 words location, but all went to plan. Nicola the vet was amazing, explained every page of the AHC, what to ensure the French vet filled in correctly and checked for any questions, also saying any concerns to contact her. Overall great service all round, would definitely use again and recommend. Total value for money. Thank you.
Seamless AHC service and cheaper than my normal vet. Repeat service cheaper still. Vet who met us was, friendly, professional and very efficient. All paperwork was in order each time we've used the service. Would highly recommend.
Really grateful for an affordable option for AHCs. On the plus side the documents are faultless, the vet I've met is great and it's worked every time. I'm also grateful for the reduced fee for a repeat application. If I could wish on ways to improve it would be to streamline the application process so that I only have to put in pieces of information once (vs twice), and very little extra for repeat applications at all (e.g. just new dates/destination) etc. It also feels a bit odd the first time agreeing to meet a vet in a carpark, but it's actually all very professional, quick and efficient. These are minor bits! Overall, I will come back again and again, and recommend VHC far and wide.

An extremely quick and efficient service. Very articulate and informative communication throughout, with regular reminder emails. Sam the vet arrived on time at the designated what 3 words location, was courteous and quick. All in all, a highly professional service and I would highly recommend.
First time travelling with my pet and it was much easier than anticipated. I filled out a couple of forms and asked my regular vet to send the vaccine certificates to the vet home certs vet. A couple of weeks later the vet came to our home with the AHC. It was accepted on the way to France and back.
The vet issuing our AHC was great and kept us updated and answered questions with patience. Our dog is usually extremely anxious with vets but the appointment took place at our home and he was relaxed the whole time. The service was recommended to us by a friend. Would definitely recommend!

We did not wait until 7 days before the appointment to raise an issue. The requirement for your rabies vaccination evidence to be sent directly from the vet practice was explained during the request process, in the initial email, and again when a provisional appointment was offered (no less than 7 times within 24 hours of your request, with you ticking confirmatory boxes and saying you would contract your vets to have them send it directly to us).
The provisional appointment email specifically asked you to contact your vet practice again (named directly) and have your pets clinical notes sent directly to us.
This is not just an admin preference, for compliance and audit reasons, and to protect our operating licence, we cannot usually accept your kind of rabies evidence forwarded by a pet owner where it can be sent directly by the vet practice, as it can be easily manipulated. This policy exists because we need to be able to verify the evidence properly and we have had several attempted fraudulent requests. Indeed in the emails when you started replying to our requests you stated ‘I now understand that, for your compliance purposes, you require the information directly from the vet practice rather than via me personally.’
The required information from the vet practice was only received two days before the provisionally held appointment. Until that point, the appointment could not be confirmed and no payment had been requested or taken. The urgent fee applies where all required information and payment are received within 7 days of the appointment, which was also explained in advance. We cannot start generating the AHC until we receive the required information.
We also want to clarify that our emails were not written by AI. Our team responds personally by email, as this creates a clear written record for AHC requests. We do have an emergency phone process where a message can be left and the on-call vet can return calls where appropriate, but routine AHC communication is handled by email, which is how we can keep such low prices.
After receiving the required information, we were still reviewing whether we could proceed, including whether staff were comfortable attending given the tone of the communication from yourself. We have a duty to protect our team as well as provide a service.
We appreciate travel documents can be stressful, but in this case the delay was caused by the required evidence not being received despite multiple requests. No payment was taken from you or even requested from you.

Process of filling out online forms was straightforward, when my vet has sent rabies record the company acted very promptly sending the details of payment to book an appointment. I have contacted them a couple of times and responses were very fast and very helpful.
Unlucky for me trains were cancelled when going to meet the vet to collect the AHC, I had to take the bus which with rush hour and no trains took twice as long as usual. I have texted the vet to say I won't be able to make it on time and I was very stressed. The vet has met me at different location closer to where I got off the bus and she was so understanding.
I cannot recommend this service enough especially that you pay fraction of the price you would pay at your vet surgery.
I am travelling tomorrow and feel confident everything is in order for my dog to cross the border with me.

Very easy process. Cost £99 Saving £150 compared to Veterinary practice. Quick response time. Filled out the application form online. Prompt email response from Liam (local vet) with info required. Emailed my vet to request an email confirming my dog's health record to be sent to local vet, confirming vaccinations. Requested an appointment to scan the dog for microchip & sign AHC. Appointment was confirmed following payment. Local vet in Weston Super Mare. You will be sent a what3words link to a public car park, Either download what3words app or open link via google maps.
Liam was very friendly & professional, he arrived on time, he was very helpful & explained the process fully & what we were required to do on exiting & re-entering the UK. I would definitely use this service again & would recommend Liam. This is much less stressful & easier than having to drive to a vets practice nr the port, ensuring you arrive before they close & finding a parking space for your motorhome or car. I was very apprehensive about using vet home certs as i normally go through my vet , which this time was quoted £230 .
I filled out the relevant form on line i had to forward medical records which my vet was more than happy to do so , we then was given an appointment and a location pick up point this was located on a road in a town not far from me , at this point i was still very anxious as we was travelling in 2 days time.
We arrived at the location and Nicola a qualified vet was there to greet us who then scanned our dog’s microchip and went through the paperwork before we signed.
The whole process went smoothly i would highly recommend and definitely will be using this company in the near future.
Fabulous service. I was a little nervous using an online vet and meeting up in a pre arranged meeting place but the process could not be simpler. I just followed the instructions and met Miriam as arranged. I received a text message confirming the appointment which gave me added peace of mind.
My AHC was checked alongside my dogs microchip at Portsmouth and everything was in order. Miriam explained the home journey process and noted down where the worming tablet had to be recorded too.
I would definitely recommend this service. Not only was it easy to use but also a fraction of the cost compared to visiting a vet practice.

Everything went as described, really smooth and pleasant experience. Indeed costed £99 which saved me about £200, got our time and place to meet the vet who was super kind, explained everything and gave the paperwork. We travelled already and everything was ok at the crossing. Will use this company again for sure
I started the process of applying for an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) 12 days ahead of our travel date, following their advice that an AHC is only valid if done 10 days before travel. Vets Home Certs offered me an appointment for the day before departure — which felt far too last-minute. When I asked for an earlier appointment (in case of any issues needing correction), I was told this would be considered an "urgent request" and would cost double (£199). This felt unreasonable given the notice I had already given.
Throughout the process, my reasonable concerns were met with rigid and unhelpful responses. I had already invested time and effort completing their preliminary steps, only to be left feeling dismissed and unsupported. Ultimately, this experience was frustrating and a complete waste of time. I would not recommend using this service.

Your concerns were only raised within the last 2 hours (presumably this is what you mean by throughout the process), to fully address all your points and give context to other readers, I have explained the situation below:
Our advice as stated multiple times on the website is to request an appointment 4-6 weeks in advance. It is true that the AHC is only valid for 10 days after it is issued therefore the appointment needs to be arranged within the 10 days before you travel however this does not prevent appointment requests being made much earlier especially in the busy summer holiday period.
The appointment was provisionally offered to you the day after you submitted a request (4 days ago) - however it is not possible to confirm an appointment until we have all the required information. This information was only sent to us from your vets last night out of hours. We have no control over how long it takes you or your vets to send us the required information.
This morning we sent the invoice to confirm the previously discussed appointment for a standard AHC and this was the first time you raised any potential issue with the appointment time (which fitted within your initial stated availability).
It is true that if we have less than 7 days in which to generate an AHC this would be classed as urgent however in your case even if we wanted to offer an urgent AHC this would not be possible as the vet is away in the earlier dates.
Therefore I do not see how we could have done anything else in your case. Our team feels similar sentiments to you in that we have done all the work (while working within your stated availability to offer such cost effective AHCs), even accelerating your request, as you intiated sourcing the required travel documents very close to your travel date but ultimately it has been a waste of our time.

Great service and so much cheaper than my local vet. We travelled with our two dogs to France on 24th March and the paperwork was all correct and we had no problems whatsoever. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this service.
