Account permanently blocked without a clear explanation
My experience with Vinted ended with my account being permanently blocked over allegations of selling counterfeit items.
Unfortunately, this was not the first time my account had been blocked, but this time the decision was permanent. Vinted flagged several of my listings as problematic, even though some of them had been listed on the platform for months without any previous warning. Shortly before my account was blocked, the only change I had made to some of the listings was lowering the price.
I submitted an appeal, provided additional photos of the items and cooperated with customer support. The items I sell are purchased through regular retail channels and authorised retailers. I invest time and effort into taking photos, creating listings, communicating with buyers, packaging and shipping parcels, and I have received very positive feedback from buyers.
Despite this, after my appeal and after providing additional photos, I received a response stating that Vinted had “reasonable grounds to believe” that one or more of my items were counterfeit and that the decision to permanently block my account was final. I was not given a specific explanation regarding any individual item or informed of what exactly led them to conclude that it was not authentic.
I understand the need for a platform to protect buyers and remove counterfeit products. However, I do not believe it is acceptable to permanently block an entire account without a clear and individual explanation, especially after a user has appealed the decision and provided additional information and photos.
What is particularly frustrating is that selling on Vinted requires time and effort – taking photos, creating listings, communicating with buyers, packaging items and taking them to a parcel locker – only for a user to potentially lose their account based on a decision that is never properly explained.
Because of the way my case was handled, my experience with Vinted and its customer support has been extremely negative. In my opinion, the automated detection system and the appeals process should be far more transparent and should provide a genuine individual review before permanently banning a user.
