Also fake positives are common, even after being reported as fake... (Not to mention false negatives.)

And yes, they ask repeatedly to solve reCAPTCHA trashy tests just to REPEAT them again, regardless if those are successful or not...

It is good but like everything else it also has its limits. By my experience it is good for scanning already downloaded files but does it poorly if you add a URL to scan. And sometimes it flags perfectly safe files or URLs it is a great first layer of security if you remember to scan them but cause it flags safe files I recommend using a second local scanner like Bitdefender free to confirm your suspicions. But overall a great website.

My go-to for checking suspicious files and links Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve been using VirusTotal for over [4 years] and it has become an essential part of my online safety routine. Whenever I download a file from a source I don't 100% trust or receive a weird link in an email, I run it through VT first.

I've only had a few situations where I got a bad/confusing read, but that was either a very literal read or the site just reading everything by definition. Only had that a few times with some windows visual mods and other similar apps, but besides that it has been a great tool.

Fake websites are spoofing domain names to sell services to remove fake warnings. Damn, VirusTotal is a 100% scam.

I was right to be sceptical about Virustotal. I tested it by copying what little html code is on the chrome "New Tab" page and it flaged it as dangerous and it said it had a IP collector when it was only the raw html code from the google chrome "New Tab" page.

Amazing site, you can scan files, sites and use it in Process explorer to scan everything that is running on your pc. It uses a lot of different scans to determine if something is malicious. Best online virusscan.

Tackles fake harmful download sites.

For some paid games like Subnautica, I have scanned malicious pirate websites in this engine and it effectively detects it. However I have to mention it has false positives for some non-harmful websites. To improve the company should make the "rescan" button easier to see which would make seeing the latest results easier (accessibility).

Echt Empfehlenswerte Seite. Man kann dort Dateien bei denen man sich unsicher ist, überprüfen lassen nach Viren. Funktioniert auch sehr gut, ich bin Froh das es sowas gibt.

As a developer with 100% clean code I get so irritated when unknown scanners on their website telling me and my clients that there is malware in it. i dont trust the Behaviour scan from Microsoft looks like they want to kick out usage of Delphi ect. A simple Windows registry change to start with Windows and a lot of scanners on their site jump in panic mode.

Hi! The virustotal is obviously fake! This because I created a payload of a simple coinminer and I encrypted the payload with AES-256 bits encryptation and he says that is virus. Obviously is virus but he can’t see the code to say that it’s virus. How is possible to say that is virus if the payload is encrypted? Good troll on internet, btw.

Hice una revisión en la página y el archivo me salió limpio y luego lo descargue y ese archivo tenía virus me daño Windows y según esta página el archivo.exe era limpio
