No response to complaint of significant overcharge
I booked two tickets for Stick Man through the Visit London website and paid £60 in total.
I subsequently found out that the theatre’s own website had the exact same tickets for £41 — a £19 difference.
I completely understand that ticket agencies may charge booking fees. My concern is that the additional amount was significant, and it wasn’t clear to me when booking how much of the £60 was the actual ticket price and how much was an agency/booking fee. Had I realised I was paying around £19 more than the theatre’s own price, I would have looked elsewhere or reconsidered the purchase.
I contacted Visit London to raise this issue and have followed up, but I have received no response at all.
I have also raised the matter with London Theatre Direct, who have refused to reconsider the difference.
I find it particularly disappointing that Visit London has not even acknowledged or responded to my complaint. If you are booking tickets through Visit London, I would recommend checking the venue’s own website first to make sure you aren’t paying significantly more for the same tickets.
