Motorbike needing backdated Customs clearance
I had a motorbike that needed a backdated VRT & was advised by customs to contact a Customs Clearance Agent. After doing an internet search I found Customs Declaration Ireland and via an email 'conversation' with Patrick, I was advised on the process and cost. I was also informed that if their services were not required (if I got my TOR clearance without having to present the bike to customs) I would get a refund. I found the service extremely helpful, informative and responsive and would definitely recommend them in the future as they reduced my stress levels with their advise!

Great service,helps to estimate VRT…
Great service,estimates VRT cost for imported car.
There is a free of charge calculator on Revenue website as well,but not all models can be estimated there.
This site gives also independent calculation, an idea,which could be taken into account when VRTing the car.

Easy and quick to use
I accidentally bought the same product information twice which was my fault, vrt refunded me immediately. The service was very fast and gave me a great idea of the overall cost of exporting a vehicle

The service provided by this Company is utterly useless. They can't even identify the vehicle correctly from the correct Reg No provided. The VRT projection is therefore completely wrong. That is why 83% of customers say they are completely useless.

1. We have taken your feedback on board and updated the website to fix these issues. It is no longer possible to order a VRT report for a car reg with a typo.
2. We issue hundreds of reports every month and identify over 1000 vehicles per month with most customers very happy with our service.
3. Your statement that 83% of our customers are unhappy is factually incorrect. Over 20,000 people use our website every month, the majority of our customers are very happy with our service and 5 of our customers on trustpilot are unhappy.

vrt.ie - charged multiple times for one actual quote - which was not accurate
The site claims to give you VAT and Customs estimates for UK imports, as well as the standard VRT.
They charge extra for VAT and Customs calculation - €15
I had a typo in the car reg in my original request, and rather than validate the reg is valid upfront, they charge you for a nothing report, and then ask you to pay again.
When they redirected me, the charge was only €5.00 which I assumed was a reduced fee or a resubmit as I had clicked on a link to correct the registration number on my original request. It turned out they had redirected me a different calculator that did not provide VAT or Customs calculations.
So the second report was useless.
On the third report, again at €15.00 it provided a VAT and Customs estimate but then reported that - 'If this is a Northern Ireland registered vehicle, then it may be exempt from customs and VAT.'
The vehicle is an NI vehicle - which is apparent from the reg number.
After a lot of googling elsewhere I found that the VAT and Customs calculation was not applicable at all in this case - unfortunately this website could not give this information.
So overall a very bad experience for €35.00

In relation to your concern regarding the report stating "If this is a Northern Ireland registered vehicle, then it may be exempt from customs and VAT", our report identified the vehicle as being a Northern Ireland vehicle, however depending on the history of the vehicle it may or may not be subject to customs & VAT: please read: https://www.vrt.ie/buying-car-northern-ireland/. Therefore it is not possible to make a definitive statement on the report.
3. Please email info@vrt.ie and we will issue a refund for any duplicate or erroneous reports.

Can't give less than 1 star pity. Messed up paperwork and wouldn't resolve it gave wrong car details to me.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for your review, we provide the car details for over 1000 vehicles per month. On occasion the wrong car details come up, the main reasons for this are:
1: If the vehicles registration number was recently changed in the UK then it may not be updated on all the systems yet.
2: If the vehicle is not in the revenue's database then we match on the closest vehicle we can find in the revenue database.
Please email your issue to info@vrt.ie, we will investigate and if the report is not satisfactory we will issue you are a refund.
