A two-star rating tells us the team who looked after you there fell short of the five-star service we set out to give on every appointment, and we apologize.

Before anything else, there is something on your vehicle's record you should know about. Our offer is set after a professional, in-person appraisal that establishes the verified condition of the vehicle and reads its recorded history, and your vehicle's Experian AutoCheck history uncovers evidence of a potential odometer rollback. The mileage climbed steadily to roughly 266,700 miles by April 2023, and from April 2024 onward the records read roughly 139,500, a drop of around 127,000 miles. The reading when the vehicle reached us was roughly 170,600. An odometer cannot decrease on its own, so something happened to this vehicle's recorded mileage in that window. In many cases a change like that is made well before the current owner acquires the vehicle, and it then passes quietly from one owner to the next. We would encourage you to pull your own history report. Anyone who finds an altered mileage figure on a vehicle they bought in good faith may have options worth taking advice on. Our appraisal recorded the mileage as a permanent sale disclosure, and it is the single biggest reason the offer landed where it did.

Separately from the mileage record, the rest of the difference comes from condition. Our online valuation is an estimate, and it is built from the information provided by the customer. When you completed that valuation, we asked you whether the vehicle had any physical or mechanical issues and you answered yes. Our website then took you to the damage declaration screen where you can tell us what those issues are, and I see from our record of what you disclosed online that no specific issues were entered. When you went to complete the valuation, our system warned you that the details were missing, and you opted to finish it without submitting any damage information. That was the basis of the estimate you were shown.

Our professional appraisal identified 22 further physical and mechanical issues that were not reflected in the online estimate, including:

- Rust through both rocker panels, requiring replacement, and recorded as structural damage that has to be disclosed to any future buyer
- An illuminated check engine light
- Damaged front and rear seats, requiring replacement
- A dented roof panel, with dents, scratches and rust across several other exterior panels

Our OBD-II diagnostic scan revealed four active fault codes:

- P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
- P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
- P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
- P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

Hi Steven and Rodney,

When we replied to your review we said we would go back through every recorded call and then come to you directly. We have now done both, and a member of our leadership team spoke with you earlier today.

When you valued the car on our website, you first told us it was not driveable, and the estimate you were shown reflected that. You then valued it a second time as driveable, and that is the estimate you brought to us. Our advice on the call was to get it jump started and driven in so that we could appraise it as a running vehicle. In the event it arrived on a truck and would not start, and we are sorry for any misunderstanding on that point.
