A Dream Wedding in Hvar Nearly Ruined by Wedding Muse Croatia – A Cautionary Tale for Future Couples
While Hvar, Croatia is an undeniably magical setting for a wedding, our experience with Anita Pelaic of Wedding Muse Croatia cast a shadow over what should have been one of the happiest moments of our lives. We feel it’s our responsibility to share our experience so that others don’t have to endure the same distress during such a meaningful occasion.
Two days before our wedding, Anita threatened to cancel everything that had been planned — not due to any failure on our part, but because she suddenly demanded cash payment, contradicting the bank transfer terms she herself had set in the official contract. This abrupt change placed enormous pressure on us, especially with guests already arriving and final details in motion. It created chaos and fear that our entire event might fall apart for reasons entirely out of our control.
As if that weren’t enough, just one day before the wedding, Anita demanded more money than was contractually agreed upon. When we tried to discuss these concerns calmly and rationally, Anita responded with highly unprofessional and inappropriate behavior. She first blamed the groom for “stressing the bride” by not simply caving to her last-minute cash demands. She then turned on the bride, criticising her for "freaking out" — a shockingly insensitive response, especially coming from someone whose job is to alleviate stress, not cause it.
Wedding planning always involves challenges, but a planner’s role is to handle them with grace, empathy, and professionalism — not to escalate them with threats, manipulation, and breaches of contract. Anita’s actions were not only unethical, but they also showed a complete disregard for the couple’s emotional and financial wellbeing.
It’s also worth noting that Wedding Muse Croatia’s website claims to have successfully planned over 100 weddings. Based on our experience, we find this number highly questionable and doubt the validity of that claim.
That said, while hiring Wedding Muse Croatia was a regrettable decision, we want to recognize and sincerely thank the outstanding creatives Anita engaged. The photographer, violinist, and florist were all exceptional — true professionals who brought beauty, heart, and artistry to the day. Their talent and warmth helped transform the experience into something magical, despite the lack of support from the planner.
Hvar is a breathtaking destination, and we are grateful to the island and its people for making most of our trip wonderful. But sadly, the conduct of Wedding Muse Croatia left a permanent mark on what should have been a joyful experience.
We strongly advise against hiring Wedding Muse Croatia if you want your wedding in Hvar to be a celebration free from intimidation, unexpected financial demands, and emotional distress. With so many other professional and compassionate planners in Croatia, couples deserve better than what we went through.
