Beware: Classic Bait-and-Switch and Refusal to Refund Deposit

I contracted with Movenship (DOT #4350956, MC #1701218) for an interstate move. I was quoted about $2,200 by John W. after providing a detailed inventory. I even removed items (a workout rack and weights) before pickup. I paid a $1,000 deposit to lock in the rate.

When their assigned carrier, American Eagle Relocation (DOT #3700234, MC #1587479), arrived, they refused to honor the contract unless I paid an extra $1,900—nearly doubling the cost. When I refused their bait-and-switch tactics, they canceled the move.

I called Movenship twice: first, they promised to email me a resolution but never did; three days later, a supervisor told me I wouldn’t get my refund and hung up on me.

This was deceptive, unprofessional, and possibly fraudulent. If you’re considering Movenship or American Eagle Relocation, stay away—their practices are dishonest, and they kept my deposit without providing the service.

Horrid. They prey on people by coming late a few days so people become restless, then doubling the price when they come, claiming that the stock is more than what agreed upon originally (it was not), and provides no proofs or calculations or anything, just talk. Then when I asked multiple times if the doubled price (at picking up and bill of landing) is the final price, they assured me it is, only to charge me another time when at delivering, claiming my musical instrument is heavy. When I ask what the bill of landing (which acts as a contract) means when they doesn’t mean to follow it, they said they do, and that they can fix the contract to show the new cost. Now this is a very interesting notion of contracts, ones that can be unilaterally fixed at will. DO NOT FALL PREY TO THEM.

DO NOT USE MOVENSHIP! I did not receive a Bill of Lading. They would not tell me the carrier company. It took two months to receive SOME of my belongings a lot of items that had value are missing! They will not return calls. The carrier company they hired (Handle With Care Moving & Transportation LLC who is the agent for Noble Moving and Storage). There is a lot of damage to the items I did receive, I did not receive furniture, antiques, rugs. It appears to be a big scam! I paid them, they took my stuff, and ghosted me for 56 days! I got things that were not mine, I got pieces of my stuff. Now it's all "handle with the insurance company". My belongings were stolen or severely damaged. They got paid, my stuff is stolen, and now they are off the hook and the insurance company is my only recourse! I'm devastated by my lossses.

Scammer company. Did not inform me they're brokers. Ordered a moving pod but the sent a different company with a truck and demanded thousands more for the move. The delivery is already 2 weeks late and was informed today it would be one more week.

The whole team at Movenship is great. From setting up my complex move to the team arriving on time and taking their time to meticulously wrap everything to make sure it's safe and secure. Everything was delivered and unpacked without issues. I have already recommended others to use their services. They are very reasonable in price.

My experience mirrors that of Karin Howard’s. We engaged this company to help arrange our move from Texas to Arizona. They brokered with Noble Moving and Storage, who arrived and claimed that we required 1,500 cubic feet for our personal belongings—despite our inventory consisting of just one desk. They then informed us that our original quote of $3,500 would increase to $11,944. We declined their services and asked them to leave.
Following this, I contacted several representatives at Movenship to request a refund. Unfortunately, my interactions with their customer service were disappointing. Courtney abruptly ended our call, and April frequently interrupted and ultimately informed me that due to the on-site cancellation, my deposit was forfeited.
After escalating the matter to Lloyd and requesting arbitration, I spoke with Mr. John Jay, who agreed to validate my dispute with the bank so I could recover the deposit. During our conversation, I learned that Mr. Jay was unaware of Noble’s history of rebranding and the legal proceedings currently pending against them. I subsequently sent him documentation outlining Noble’s reputation and expressed concern that continued partnership could be interpreted as willful negligence.
While the sales representatives were personable and engaging, my experience with their customer service team was lacking in professionalism, empathy, and courtesy. Given their exclusive brokerage relationship with Noble Moving and Shipping, I am unable to recommend their services at this time.

Way to go team.My mother’s main concern were her antiques. Everything was taken care of from start to finish

Honesty and transparency is what we’ve brought Movenship after utilizing there services for the third time now. They have always shown the same. Our final hatching will be heading to college soon and I believe this will be the last and final move for a long time. Way to go team!

Our move from WI to TN was a breeze! We were so stressed out with our first time moving states. This made the whole process so easy

Terrible company! Their initial quote was off by thousands of dollars. Asked for an itemized list, spent 30 minutes on the phone detailing everything I had for no reason what so ever. When they showed up was told they charge by cubic feet not by items. So why even get an itemized list? Even tried charging 100 dollars to carry each heavy item. Total joke! DO NOT USE COMPANY!!! Save your self the headache!

The moving crew was amazing. They were professional, worked very quickly, and did a great job. We highly recommend Movenship!

Movenship went above and beyond for our move. I highly recommend!!

If I could give them zero Stars I would. They hire out their customer service in the Philippines they don't speak English they don't understand anything and all they can do is read off a piece of paper. I've been misled by them as well as the owner Mr Williams regarding my move. They can give me a two-day window to get my stuff picked up to go all the way across the country. However they cannot tell me when it will get there until the driver gets here to pick up my stuff. Run fast run far. I am ready to eat the cost that I gave them as a down payment and use another company very unprofessional very unhelpful and adds more stress to a simple move across the country. If you can't trust them to tell you when they're going to come pick up your things how do you trust them to take your things all the way across the country and then get them to you.

I hired this moving company. I explained on the phone with Lloyd all the items I needed to have shipped. When the movers finally got here, 2 days late, they told my not all the stuff I told Lloyd was on their list. Of course you always hear bad things about brokers, I rolled the dice and lost. They tried to charge me another $1400 on top of my contract price. I tried contacting the company, of course I can't talk to anyone, they said they will send me an Email. Of course I never received that either. Of course I did not pay the extortion fee $1400, they probably would have extorted me for more just to release my items. I can not say anything good about this company. Salesmen will tell you anything you want to hear, then stab you in the back.

The Movenship team was outstanding from start to finish. We moved from LA to NY and contracted Movenship for the pack out service. I will be hiring them again in the near future for our Daughter's residency.

If I could give 0/5 stars, I would. I have canceled my move and I would like a full refund for what I have already paid. The mover and representative were not only rude and unprofessional on the phone and in my house but they also made comments in text that they were trying to extort money from me. This is absolutely disgusting and I will never be doing business with movenship again.

I thought that I was getting a good company to move me. I spoke with one of their representatives by the name of Lloyd, and he told me from beginning to the end that I had no problem with them coming to pack disassemble my home and move me from California to Alabama he assured me I didn't have anything to worry about everything sounded good. I'm 65 years old I couldn't do all of this on my own. But he missed represented his company by telling me that. After receiving $2125.57 everything changed. After letting them know that I have went over the contract three days later to see that no, their company didn't do any packing that was an extra fee. If I knew that I would have never went with this company. Honesty is the best policy. So I'll tell you this I would never ever ever have these people move me. So I requested for a refund just to find out this is not refundable. They should be ashamed of yourselves how they go after senior citizens and give them miscommunication. But this is not over, I'm going to fight to get my money back. And I will be forwarding this information to BBB and my bank.

The team made my move super easy, everything was done in a timely manner. I will definitely use them for future moves!!

We recently relocated from California back to Florida and would have to say the Movenship team understood our circumstances. My employer covered only part of the cost and our Rep John W went to bat for us when we thought we would have to dip into savings. We are a Military family and the discounts they offered brought everything in line. The team’s kindness along with professionalism was unmatched from start to finish. Way to go team. 5 STARS.

We feel scammed also by John. Unfortunately we gave $2000.00+ deposit onlty to find out 12 hours later we weren't told the truth. The DOT # indicated they or John was not in business 30+ years as he told us. The address is an apartment in Albany NY. Of course our deposit was not refundable but at least we now have a reputable mover and know out true costs. Beware, it seemed too good to be true and it sure was! Thank God for a rep from a national company looked up the company by DOT code, you can too. Found a fountain of bad information. Run somewhere else.
