Excellent company

Excellent company, we have been with them for over 10 years. Had to have some additional work done following the annual service, Harry attended on time and as scheduled, carried out the work and was very professional, ensured we were happy with the completed work. Very friendly and knew exactly what he was doing, as do all the engineers that have visited us, which is very reassuring and we know all the work has been completed to a very high standard. Have recommended them to many of our friends and neighbours, all are as happy with Weston Fuel as we are.

Be very cautious!

Ordered oil in December, a failed delivery due to access which was promptly resolved. Then they just didnt turn up, days they said they would deliver then didnt even attempt this which went on for a month. On days we were told that the delivery was due we were at home and waiting for this to happen, ensuring there would be no issued, only to be notified that they would not deliver to my property leaving me low on oil and having to arrange an emergency delivery at a much higher cost. Extremely poor service.

I would like to add to my review as the reply is incorrect. There was only one incident of you being unable to deliver and evidence has only been provided for that time. Every time I was advised that a redelivery was due, I was vigilliant with access, I was always at home and my office overlooks my garden and I saw noone enter my garden, I had no knock on my door. My original order was on 17th December and now I am dangerously low on oil, I dare not turn on my heating as I work from home I am freezing.

We’re sorry to hear about your frustration and appreciate the opportunity to clarify what happened.

The delays were not due to any unwillingness to deliver, but arose from issues involving the third-party company the order was placed through, which will lead to delays in communication. The initial delivery attempt was unsuccessful because access to the property was blocked. Following this, we were unable to reattempt delivery until authorisation was provided, as approval is required before a further attempt can be made. This unfortunately caused additional delays outside of our direct control.

When a second attempt was arranged, the driver had to abort the delivery on site due to obstructions in the garden, specifically dog mess that prevented the safe pulling of the delivery hose. For safety and hygiene reasons, the driver was unable to proceed under those conditions.

We fully understand how stressful it is to be low on oil, particularly during the winter months, and we regret that the situation resulted in the need to arrange an emergency delivery elsewhere. We strive to provide a reliable service and are sorry that, in this case, a combination of access issues, safety concerns, and third-party processes led to a poor experience.

For urgent or potentially problematic deliveries, we would always recommend dealing directly with us, as this allows you to speak directly with the team arranging your delivery and helps issues to be resolved more quickly. - JW

Kameron did our boiler service and did…

Kameron did our boiler service and did a great job. He found we had water in our tank and would need it sorted out at some stage. So we have decided to have a new tank and base, Noah came round that day to see what we needed .
Both Kameron and Noah are a credit to Western fuel, great customer service and knew what they were talking about.

I telephoned on Friday afternoon , to be told someone would call back… that didn’t happen..I rang on Monday first thing as I had no heating or hot water .. It was a very cold weekend…
An engineer came Tuesday …. Managed to give me hot water but no heating more parts needed.. Matt returned did an amazing job..

I would like this company to have a vulnerability register.. This would enable the elderly at risk anyone with a disability where heating and hot water essential.
If big companies an offer this , it s something I would like this company to consider..

Rayburn Service

Having found it difficult to find a company/engineer who was willing to service my Rayburn.
I recently had mine serviced by Mark O assisted by Harry from Western Fuel. They were amazing, very thorough, particular and very knowledgable.
I would highly recommend to use this company to service your Rayburn/Aga. Lots of other local companies no longer want to service these appliances so it was very reassuring to find a company and engineers who are passionate and enthusiastic about their business and the service they provide.
Excellent .. highly recommend

Polite and efficient

Harry, who came to service my boiler was polite and efficient. I was kept informed during his visit as to what he was doing the parts he had fitted and why he had fitted them. Advice on safety issues and regulation.
All in all a very good experience of a trades man carrying out an annual visit.

Western Fuel boiler service quote,nearly doubled !

My family and I have used Western Fuel to supply our heating oil for many years, with no problems. Last year I contacted Western fuel for a quote to service a oil central heating boiler at a property I rent out, for its first service, and the work was done at the quoted price and all was fine.
But this year I rang to get a quote and was told £145.00 labour plus parts and labour. The previous year this came to £183.60 including the labour parts and VAT.
On the day the engineer arrived at about 2pm to do the service he met the tenant ,and started the work but he was still there at about 7pm and I asked the tenant what was going on, she thought the engineer was very nice, but did not seem to know exactly what he was doing ,and he had found a faulty part that would be delt with under guarantee.
A while later I received the bill for the service, a total of £483.12 !!
The labour alone was £270.00 plus Vat £324,00. Nearly double what I had been quoted !
There was no itemisation of the parts ,and I had had no contact from Western Fuel, that it was going to be much more than I had been quoted, so I rang the company for an explanation. I asked to speak to a manager who said that the engineer had been given the work the go ahead, by the tenant, something she completely denies, and the manager said they had to go by the tenant ,to which I said , so if a tenant who is not paying for the work asks for a complete heating system they have to do it do they?. Obviously this is rubbish. The manager told me they had not fitted the faulty part, and that I could get the boiler supplier to fit it. In other words he had charged me £483.12 for a service and left it to me to sort out.
So be careful ,if you use Western fuel to give you a quote for a job ,it might come to much ,much more than they quote you, without them even ringing you,and when you complain you get a ridiculous answer from the manager. I paid the bill but beware.
The engineer from the boiler manufacturer, fitted the faulty part under guarantee.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your recent experience, and we’d like to clarify a few important points regarding the service carried out.
Firstly, the original quote provided for the annual service charge was correct and in line with our standard pricing — this included the standard service labour rate and any serviceable parts typically required are always added on top as the parts required vary on each service.
However, while our engineer was on site, it became clear that the boiler — a Navien model — required additional time to complete the work effectively due to a blockage within the system. Also, you're likely aware, parts for Navien boilers are significantly more expensive than average, and this contributed to the overall increase in the final bill. All parts used were strictly necessary for the service and were not outside of what would be expected for a comprehensive annual service on this type of unit.
Additionally, the engineer identified a separate fault that should be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. This was communicated directly to the tenant at the time, and the matter was also documented and logged on our end accordingly to be passed back to the agent dealing with your property. No work outside of the service scope was undertaken in relation to the faulty component.
As for the labour charge, the only additional cost beyond the standard service rate was due to the extended time required to ensure the tenant was not left without heating or hot water — something we considered essential. Despite the work continuing well into the evening, we charged only our standard hourly rate, with no emergency or out-of-hours surcharge applied.
We understand your concerns regarding authorisation; however, at no point was the tenant asked to authorise any major or chargeable work beyond the scope of the agreed service. All additional work was directly related to the servicing itself and ensuring basic functionality for the tenant. As this was booked through an estate agent the engineer had very limited contact details to get any go ahead outside of office hours.
We always strive to be transparent and fair, and we are sorry if our communication did not meet your expectations in this instance. Please rest assured that we take customer feedback seriously and will continue to review our internal processes to ensure clarity and satisfaction for all parties involved.

Great customer support

We have used this company for our oil supply for a number of years. The team are always polite and helpful. Last year we started to use the Boiler Service Team for our Aga. Again, the team are polite and do all they can to get us booked in quickly, especially if our Aga is playing up! Matt our Service Engineer is great and keeps our Aga in great working order. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company ✨️

When my usual boiler service engineer retired

When my usual boiler service engineer retired I contacted Westernfuels to see if they knew of someone that they could recommend. I was surprised to find that they offered a complete range of support services for their customers. Their own "in house" technicians have proved to be courteous, knowledgeable and capable. They were able to explain clearly and logically what parts would be needed for preventative maintenance and completed the task on the same day. I am now reassured that my boiler will function well during the coming winter and I can rely on prompt attention should there be any malfunctions. I found the costs were reasonable and explained clearly.

Boiler break down

Our boiler broke down on Monday 31st March whilst my husband was away and I had my 81 year old mother staying with me. We live in a 300 year old cottage, which can get really cold at night! Western Fuel called and managed to get Harry out that same day! Amazing!
Unfortunately I had to go to work that afternoon and had to leave my mother to look after everything.
She wanted me to leave feedback on her behalf as she found Harry to be very polite helpful and very informative on his visit and treated her with the utmost respect, Having to leave an 81 year old lady with a 'call out person' could have been very daunting and worrying for her, but she felt very safe at all times and really appreciated Harrys helpfulness.
He managed to get a part that was required the following day and all was sorted!! Can't thank Harry and Western Fuels enough...they are very lucky to have such a 'helpful young man'. Please pass our gratitude on to Harry.

Great service, great price

We use Westernfuel for our regular top-ups on heating oil, after being quoted a delivery date of the 4th of April, they delivered yesterday, after only ordered 2 working days prior. Great Price, great service! the only improvement I could recommend, is give the customer a heads up on the delivery date, luckily I was home by chance!
