The team here has been extremely helpful. I have attended their webinars weekly, and learned a lot of how to better prepare. In addition, the team has helped provide me with information our team needed that were able to submit for a hearing and they worked together with my attorneys to help draft the needed brief. Also, they helped provide me with information on how to create a detailed release plan, and they helped me review my release plan so I could add needed information to it. With their help I was able to expand my release plan to include more relevant information that i hasn’t thought to be relevant. In addition, they gave me the opportunity to host a free online webinar workshop to teach others how to create their own release plan.

I felt proud to be able to help others create a release plan, and I appreciated the time and opportunity they gave me to do so.

I feel much more prepared and ready now that I have gotten involved with their team. I highly recommend them and their help. Without them, I would have been lost an unsure of what to do. Now, I feel prepared and understand well what to expect and to do and not to do.

I can't explain how grateful I am to have found Michael and the entire team. Though I found them after my sentencing, they have prepared me in ways I did not know beforehand. They truly know this area as they have been either in or affected by the system. Highly Highly Recommended. I have worked with them since the pre-charge(investigation) phase. Sooner you start, sooner you can advocate a possible better plea deal and sentencing. Lawyers CANNOT be your only tool. Simple. Start with the webinars, connect with their team, and go from there.

I got assistance on PSR preparation,character letters,personal narrative,release plan, and Allocution. I attended their webinars and resources made available. They taught me how to advocate! My PSR included my personal narrative and release plan. PSR is your prison “bible”. I was looking at 13-15yrs and I am now looking at 7.5-8.5. If it wasn’t for them, I would NOT be where I am at today. Fact. They helped me on medical prep, RDAP prep, prison prep, prison designation. Lastly, because of their work, I had my supervision modified in my favor prior to my sentence. Again, advocacy is the only way. Lawyers WILL not do that! Lawyers file legal motions, they don’t do the actual advocacy/mitigation work for you which can ONLY be done by you. If I didn’t have them, I would have been looking at longer sentence and not known about programs to reduce time. Fact. Please reach out to them. Amazing team. Michael, Justin, Scott, Brad.

My experience with White Collar Advice started early in my journey with the law. WCA has been by my side guiding, educating, and most importantly supporting me through this difficult experience. They showed me how to turn bad decisions I had made into a learning experience that has made me a stronger and better man. You cannot rewrite the past but you can change how you adapt and handle the future. In addition to what I gleaned from the team it was the intermittent conversations that helped me the most. When going through the process of dealing with the law it is nice to speak to people who have been where you are.
I was sentenced to 51 months and was released to the halfway house after 16.5 months away at a prison camp. This was accomplished by hard work, staying out of trouble and clearly explaining my goals to the stakeholders within the B.O.P. These were the tenets taught to me by W.C.A. and they were invaluable.

Like many others, my biggest regret is not finding and working with the team at White Collar Advice sooner. I started working with them after I had done my PSR, but before my sentencing. They taught me how to communicate better and more effectively with my lawyers, and I received a sentence 3 years less than the prosecutor was asking. What I quickly found out is that most lawyers have no idea what happens to the defendant once the Judge hands down their sentence. That’s not a dig at lawyers—they are hired to perform a specific function in your case. The WCA team uses their experience of having actually gone through the federal prison system to provide practical solutions to benefit those who are going through the process. They helped me to prepare for my surrender to prison—from getting my personal affairs in order, to learning how to advocate for myself while in prison (once you surrender to prison, there is very little a lawyer on the outside can do for you—it is imperative that you learn the self-advocacy process if you want to have a better experience and have the most favorable outcome). As different issues arose during my stay in federal prison, it was very reassuring and stress-relieving to know that I could reach out via the prison email system to the team at WCA, who promptly provided me guidance and advice. By continuing to work with the team from WCA I was able to self-advocate and create a release plan to get out after 21 months on a 60 month sentence under the First Step Act and the CARES Act.

Once you begin working with WCA and watching the videos, you will learn to shift your thinking away from yourself, to learning how to view your case from the perspective of the stakeholders—the Judge, the prosecutor, the victims, your case manager in prison, your case manager in the halfway house, and finally your probation officer. And by learning to advocate for yourself along the way, you’re likely to gain higher levels of liberty and more favorable outcomes.

Having WCA in my corner saved me from so much stress and anxiety along the way.

Facing felony charges & all that goes with that is overwhelming and foreign in every way. I am profoundly thankful to have found White Collar Advice! It is reassuring to talk to people who have been through this personally and who have made the most of their lives after a conviction. I believe their advice & input on my statement (to the judge) and on the character letters I submitted had a major impact on my sentence. I faced a guideline sentence range of 41-51 months, and a request from the prosecutor for 30… and received 24, which will be reduced further by RDAP and the First Step Act.
I am also benefiting from their knowledge & experience when mentally & practically preparing to report to prison. Knowing what to expect is a huge stress reducer for me & my family. And it’s information my attorney just doesn’t have.

Throughout my journey with the federal system, I was looking for advice and guidance. I kept on google searching for anything that would help me understand. I searched podcast, articles and everything in between. Then, I discovered WCA. I started reading their website and listening to Michael on Spotify. Every day I would learn something new. By that time in my journey, I was already passed some very critical points. I discovered them late in the process but early enough to learn some important techniques that would help me get out of prison earlier than expected.

Carole was instrumental in my journey. She provided me with rapid responses and answered all my questions directly. Before I self-surrendered, she told me about important things I can do to help my self-advocacy campaign, such as getting a physical before I go in and mailing the paperwork to myself. This was instrumental in my journey because it provided the documentation I needed. While inside, she was always available via email to provide answers and guidance- and I had a lot.

But, it doesn't end there. After my release (a few weeks ago), they have not stopped supporting me. I recently had a meeting with Michael who has offered some critical additional support for some outstanding financial obligations that I have due to the case. He made certain that I take the important steps needed to avoid additional headaches at no extra cost. The WCA team is also providing guidance to me while I am on supervised release.

The most important factor in this is to understand that everyone who works there have already been though the system. They know and understand it well. They are not trying to evaluate you or judge you which was my fear. They are there to make sure you get through this as safe as possible. I say safe because this journey is mentally frustrating and something I wish no one had to encounter. However, with a team like WCA on your side providing guidance you have an advocate, a real advocate by your side. Quite different from the lawyers we hire. The team at WCA understands the importance of a PSR/I. There are so many things I can speak about but, the truth is that I learned most of it from them. Hire them and regain focus on things that are important at this time in the case- they will guide you. You won't regret it.

I hope this review reaches as many criminally challenged people/loved ones as possible. Self-advocacy and preparation is the key to achieving the best possible outcome, no matter where you are in your journey. I wanted to share the outcome of my sentence hearing on Friday 2/17/23 in Denver, CO. A brief overview, I went to trial, and was basically found guilty of “willful ignorance/conspiracy.” One of my best friends, that I consulted with for over 20 years, got caught up in a Ponzi scheme. He immediately made a deal with government to plead guilty, and offered up myself & one other person up as co-conspirator’s. So, we went to trial, government tried to portray me as mastermind of operation, I was found guilty 8/26/22.

I started working with you guys in September, and you taught me the value of self-advocating, and not relying solely on my attorney. Your help and guidance has been invaluable, the work completed by Larry, from the personal narrative, to the allocution statement was impressive!

Bottom line, when I went to my sentence hearing, I was prepared, I knew what to expect, and I knew with certainty I had done the work (with your help) to position myself for the best possible outcome. And that work paid off, as you guys have said many times, it's hard to pinpoint the one thing that influences a judge/stakeholder, but more than likely it’s the collaborative effort.

Because the amount of money was $14MM lost by the victims, and I went to trial, etc, the government was originally seeking 14 years! My only chance was for a “downward variance” in sentencing, based on how the judged viewed me during the trial, but more importantly, how he received the work I/we did.

The judge chastised the government for trying to portray me as the “mastermind,” when it was very evident that it was the governments witness that was the primary perpetrator. He went on to reprimand me, saying that I was an experienced businessman, sharper than most he has seen, and I should have known better. However, he was impressed with the character letters presented on my behalf, and the work I had done including my personal narrative & volunteer work (Prison Professors). He said that my allocution statement was precise, and he was glad I submitted it prior to hearing (BTW - I decided to submit to the court a week before sentencing, instead of waiting for the hearing).

He sentenced my to 6 years, considerably less than what government originally sought (14 yrs), and granted my additional request that I knew to ask for (because you prepared me), Montgomery FPC, recommendation for entry into RDAP, and a surrender date of 5/1/23.

I am convinced that without all of your guidance and support, this outcome would’ve been much different! Now I will move on to the next stage, and prepare my release plan.

Did White Collar Advice provide value? Yes through them we learned invaluable information substantially reducing anxiety and preparing us as well as possible for an uninvited experience. They continue to provide assistance without hesitation and answers to our questions as well as those we did not know to ask. The only regret and I hear many say this is that we did not know about them earlier.

I have followed and listened to Justin's advice prior to self surrendering my 30 months prison sentence. While in prison, I remind myself constantly about do's and don't during my prison time. Justin's advice was instrumental that it kept me out of trouble and any kind of infraction so therefor, I only served 13 months and out in the halfway house currently. I was a surgeon for 29 years in the same location I had hired two lawyers before constituting Justin Paperny . My plea was completed and during my guilty leading I felt my brother was out of his league and the other attorney was weak. Innately, I recognized to fire the lead attorney after dropping 88 K. I hired a health care attorney and an attorney locally who knew all the stake holders. After that , I called Justin in summer of 2018 and he guided me through speaking in front of the judge and guessed on a 1.5 million dollar medical fraud case. I felt I did the right thing for my patients and it took justin to explain I was still guilty. You can’t act on your own Mike. Took a while for that to sink in. The guidelines were between 49 -59 months. Justin figured since I did so much for my community I would get 18-24 months. I had a 300 page mitigation package with 80 Documents including I built a 1.5 million football and cheerleading and park and ran it for 10 years at 100 K a year. I Hired Justin and he talked me through my case and what to expect. I got 5 years of probation with 24 months of house detention. In September of 2018. I got off house detention using First Step act Pro se. First in the nation to get off prison or house arrest pro se or with an attorney at 17 months. At 35 months , after paying restitution, I wrote another Pro se motion to get off of Probation which was granted.
Remember, when trying to get off of prison time ot house detention you must understand the first step act and must site case documentation similar to yours. I was able to get off house arrest with help of blogs on first step act on Justin Paperny’s website which was written by Their partner Shon Hopwood an ex felon now an attorney and professor at Georgetown University. Shon motivated me to go to law school at age 58. I will graduate this May.
I am also a Football Coach High School and College and I can only say what my University Head Football Coach told us : There is no Elevator to Succeed, You MUST take the stairs. That is you must work very hard for the best outcome. Even if you fall short, you know you left everything on the Field.
Hiring Justin was very Important in getting probation on a 1.5 million dollar health care fraud case which I feel very bad for challenging the Government.
Justin will work with you on price and I was tapped out. The funds I spent on Justin was invaluable!

I began to search online for some understanding in regards of what to expect. I came across Justin first and later Micheal. I watched and read nearly everything they published online. I was in awe because they understood and sometimes I even felt calmness come across my mind given this incredible and free content created by two people who truly care.
