Hidden import charges
Hidden import charges: a EUR 28 order cost me EUR 67
I ordered two Williams x Marvel comics from Spain. EUR 28 for the comics, EUR 11 for shipping. The product page said "All prices are inclusive of VAT" and that the EUR site ships to Europe.
Days later FedEx demanded EUR 27.66 more before delivery: EUR 6.51 import VAT, EUR 3 duty and a EUR 18.15 FedEx handling fee. That is 70% on top of the order. So the "VAT inclusive" price was UK VAT, and I paid VAT a second time on import, with no warning of the amount at checkout.
The shop replied that shipments are DAP and the charges are between me and FedEx. If you advertise VAT-inclusive euro prices to European customers, you should either offer duty-paid checkout or state the real landed cost clearly before payment.
The comics are fine. If you order from the EU, expect to pay far more than the cart shows.
